Bubbles is a 10-year-old, 22 lb purebred Shih Tzu with a heart as soft as his fluffy coat. He came to us from the shelter after reportedly feeling unwell and deeply depressed—but once we got to know him, we learned the cause: Bubbles is diabetic, and we have no idea how long his condition went untreated. The moment he entered rescue, he was started on insulin, and the transformation has been incredible. This sweet boy went from quiet and withdrawn to doing full-speed zoomies around his foster home! He’s had both his neuter and dental, and now proudly sports his adorable smile—complete with four teeth. Bubbles has an amazing temperament: gentle, patient, loving, and wonderfully cooperative for his twice-daily insulin injections. His beautiful Shih Tzu coat will require regular grooming, but he takes it all in stride. We are so grateful we took a chance on him—he has been pure joy every step of the way.
