This friend has just arrived because their owner could no longer keep them. While owners can provide some history on their pets, our medical and behavioral teams will still evaluate them. Dogs that have lived in homes previously typically have some training established, but we cannot guarantee that those behaviors will remain consistent in a new home environment. They are pending interactions with other animals at the shelter until they have been cleared by our vet. Our staff will spend some time getting to know them and we will update their bio with more information as we learn. If you are interested in adopting this dog, please submit an adoption questionnaire! Our adoption process is on a first-come, best-match basis and we are not able to hold animals. If you are interested in this specific dog but it ends up not being the best fit upon meeting, our adoption counselors will work with you to help find a match! All household members, including children and other dogs, must come along for the meeting to make sure it's a good fit. If a match is made, we encourage same-day adoptions! Our adoption fees include the animals' spay/neuter, microchip, age-appropriate vaccinations and preventatives, fecal testing, heartworm testing, and a small bag of food to get you started.

Shorty is a spunky sprite that loves being outside and enjoys walks with his nose down and grunting like a little piglet while he sniffs everything. He thinks he can catch squirrels but doesn't understand how they just disappear! He enjoys spending time with my grandchildren and snuggles with them every chance he gets. He is initially fearful of men, until they get down on his level and once, he sniffs them, then he is all wiggles. He is also skittish around other dogs. He doesn't mind being groomed and has a beautiful full tail. He is house trained and will tell you when he has to go out. He is a super sweet dog and would be a great companion for a just about anyone, single, or family.

Buster came to us several years ago after my sister's death, so we're unsure of his age. He is a friendly, even temperament companion. Very good with children. We hate having to surrender such a good friend, but our own health issues make it necessary. We would love to see him find a loving home and appreciate your efforts in accomplishing that.

Onyx is a 6-year-old, fun-loving, energetic dog who likes to snuggle and still thinks he's a puppy at times! He loves to play, enjoys attention, and has a big personality that will keep you smiling. We welcomed him into our family during the COVID pandemic after getting him from a breeder in the Lincoln, PA area. During that time, we had plenty of time for training, daily walks, playtime, and giving him all the attention he deserved.As life has changed, so have our schedules. Between busy lifestyles and increased work travel, we've come to the difficult realization that we can no longer give Onyx the time and activity he truly deserves.Our greatest wish is to find him a loving, caring family, preferably one with children, where he can receive the love, playtime, and companionship he thrives on.

Shorty is a very active dog who loves to be outside, with his nose to the ground and grunting like a little piglet while he sniffs everything. He thinks he can catch squirrels but doesn't understand how they just disappear! He enjoys spending time with my grandchildren and would fit well in a home with children. He is initially fearful of men, but once they get down to his level and he sniffs them, he is all wiggles. He is skittish around other dogs. He is fully house-trained and if he needs to go between walks, he will come and scratch your leg. He doesn't mind being brushed and has a beautiful curved tail. Overall, he is a sweet dog that requires someone/family that is active and ready to play or walk. At the end of the day, he is content to have a few belly rubs and be near his person(s).
