Story
Tiny, Tilted, and Totally Perfect Tinker is a 15-year-old, 15-pound sweetheart with a built-in head tilt that makes her look like she’s always politely listening—even though she’s deaf. She may not hear your voice, but she absolutely feels the love, and she’s all about gentle pets, cozy naps, and being your loyal little sidekick. This lovely senior gal does great with other dogs and cats and would thrive in a peaceful home where she can enjoy her golden years in comfort. If you’ve ever wanted a tiny companion who will happily accept all your affection and give you unconditional love in return, Tinker is your girl. Warning: prolonged exposure to Tinker may result in spontaneous “aww” noises. March 7, 2026, 9:03 am

Story
Lilly is a wonderful companion for someone with an active lifestyle. She would thrive with a family that enjoys spending time outdoors, as she has plenty of energy and would make an excellent jogging or hiking buddy. Lilly can be selective when it comes to other dogs. While she may not get along well with unfamiliar dogs, she can become friendly with them once she's had time to get to know them through slow, positive introductions. At mealtime, she does best being fed separately from other dogs to help her feel comfortable and avoid any food-related conflicts. With the right family who can provide regular exercise, patience, and understanding, Lilly has the potential to be a loyal and loving companion.

Coco is an energetic, expressive, and sassy dog who loves to go on walks. She loves to sit up on the couch and sunbath outside. She is highly intelligent and needs as much mental stimulation as physical stimulation. She would do best in a fenced yard to play in. She loves having her hair brushed and is used to grooming. She has recently gotten her rabies and DA2PPV vaccines for this year and is well behaved at the vet/clinic.

Story
Crimson is being fostered in VA. Crimson is blind and has kidney disease. Crimson Update – April 1, 2026: Crimson has settled into his foster home, making friends with his foster parents and the four other blind dogs who live in the home. He now knows all about evening sofatime with his foster mom and the other pups, and, after a belly and head rub, takes a nap. He is doing a great job learning to go up and down the two steps from the deck into the yard and then back into the house again. And, with the warmer weather, he likes to take a quick roll in the grass when he goes out to do his business. Crimson does have dry eye now, so is on daily Optimmune (eye ointment). He does a very good job at medication time. For more information about this sweet boy, read what his foster home wrote about him in February 2026. See below. Crimson is a friendly little guy who loves belly rubs! If you would like to know more about this special pup, read on! Crimson is from Florida. His family could no longer care for him and so they turned him over to the Blind Dog Rescue Alliance. He traveled to his Virginia BDRA foster home in January 2026 and made friends all along the way. Crimson has settled into his foster home quite well! There are four other blind dogs in the home and Crimson gets along just fine with each of them. He is happy to share a bed and doesn’t mind if a dog bumps into him. He ignores the family cat. At night, he settles easily into his bed and sleeps through the night. He is housetrained – not a single accident yet! He has a deep bark and, when he first arrived, he barked fairly often but now that he is learning the routine, he barks only occasionally (usually when anticipating a meal!). As mentioned, he loves belly rubs and he enjoys head rubs too. He also likes toys. Crimson is blind, diagnosed with SARDS several years ago. SARDS (Sudden Acquired Retinal Degeneration Syndrome) is a condition that causes rapid and irreversible blindness due to changes within the retina. In addition, he arrived at his foster home with ear infections that are in the process of being treated. He hears well though and he doesn’t let his blindness bother him at all. His eyes are currently healthy although he does have some clear discharge at times. Crimson also has been diagnosed with kidney disease/kidney failure along with high blood pressure. He is on a prescription kidney diet (Purina) and also on Benazepril twice a day. We don’t know all the details about Crimson’s medical history before he arrived at his foster home and – as is true with any rescue dog – we can’t predict what the future holds for his health. Anyone interested in adopting Crimson should first speak with their vet about canine kidney disease so there is an understanding of this disease, its progression, and how it is treated. Crimson has not spent time with children and, although he is such a nice dog, he should be adopted into a home with older children or adults only. And he should always be supervised when he is with young children, as all dogs should be. If you think you can provide this sweet, gentle dog the wonderful forever home he deserves, complete an application today! BDRA has voted against the use of electrical fencing effective immediately.

Story
McGee & Sadie – A Bonded Pair Looking for Their Fresh StartMcGee and Sadie are a devoted sibling pair who came to us after their owner experienced medical challenges and could no longer care for them. When they arrived, both were very matted, but it was clear they had been deeply loved. Thanks to the wonderful team at Shaggy Paws Grooming, these two now have a fresh new look to match the fresh new chapter they’re ready to begin.McGee is an 8‑year‑old Shih Tzu with a calm, reserved nature. He likes to take his time getting to know new people, but once he feels safe, he becomes a total lap dog. Having his sister nearby helps him warm up even faster — she’s his comfort and confidence.Sadie, his 7‑year‑old sister, is the opposite in all the best ways: lively, wiggly, and always ready to play. She loves rolling in the grass, greeting you with immediate kisses, and keeping life fun and upbeat. Her joyful energy reassures McGee, and his gentle presence helps her settle — they truly balance each other. This pair has done well with other dogs who are respectful of smaller pups, and they showed no reaction to our kitten room, making them a good fit for homes with calm dogs or cats. They do not enjoy being crated and will thrive with someone who is home more often than not.McGee and Sadie are looking for a family who can give them stability, patience, and love — together. If you’re ready to welcome a bonded pair who bring both serenity and sunshine, these two will fill your home with warmth from day one.McGee & Sadie's adoption fee is $150, which helps support their medical care and preparation for adoption. Please note: All of our animals are spayed/neutered and up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations. Each pet also receives a behavioral assessment to help us better understand the type of home they may thrive in. However, it’s important to remember that the results may not fully reflect an animal’s true personality, as shelter and foster environments can be stressful. If you are interested in meeting any of our animals, we encourage you to first visit our website and submit an adoption application: https://www.acskc.org/adopt-1Once your adoption application has been approved, we will call you to set up an appointment to meet with the pet! We welcome adopters from out of state to apply! _When it comes to our pets, we're all-inclusive!
