I will likely need extra time to adjust to home life. I have lived with other dogs but have not socialized with people. Things like walking on a leash and going through doorways can be challenging for me. Adopting me will be extremely rewarding, but I need time to learn. - I am enrolled in Confidence College. This is a program for dogs to build confidence and learn that the world is not so scary. My adoption comes with a free 30-minute private training session. - I’m a shy dog and need someone willing to be patient with me. - I am eligible for a Slumber Pawty, a 7-10 day in-home trial period. My home needs are:- I must go to a home that already has another social dog so they can show me the ropes.- If you`d like to meet me, Wayside requires bringing your resident dog to Wayside to make sure we can be buddies. - A fenced yard is a must for me! I do not know how to walk on a leash, so I need a secure area to go out for potty breaks.- I need a home with kids 6 years old and older since I tend to be nervous around new people and loud noises. - For my safety, I need to go home on an anti-slip collar called a martingale collar. For your convenience, we sell them in our retail store, Whiskers and Wags. - Wayside recommends that I have a quiet home and an adopter who has experience with shy and fearful dogs.- I must go home in a travel/airline carrier.

Beppe is a loving 3-year-old Shih Tzu with a big personality who I originally acquired from a reputable breeder in 2023. He has a thick, healthy coat and brown eyes, and he is happiest when he’s with his owner, chewing on a Bully stick or at his Mimi’s house with other dogs. He does great with people he knows and has lived comfortably around both dogs and cats. He has a harder time with unfamiliar people, children, and animals and can be reactive or fearful in those situations. He has shown signs of aggression toward strangers and is currently taking Prozac to help with anxiety and reactivity. He also experiences separation anxiety. Because of his anxiety and reactivity, he would do best in a calm, patient home with low foot traffic & with someone who understands these behaviors that is willing to continue working with him. A home without young children may be the best fit, and slow introductions to new people and animals are important.

Meet Loki 🐾Loki is a sweet, playful 5-year-old who came into my life after my mom adopted him from a shelter in Arkansas. He loves playing with balls, running around, and being around other dogs. He has an anxious side, but with patience, love, and consistency, he does well and has so much love to give.I’m exploring rehoming because I want to make sure he has the time, attention, daily interaction, and opportunities for daycare and socialization with other dogs and people that would allow him to truly thrive. This is not an easy decision, and my priority is finding him a loving, committed home that is a good fit for his personality and needs.I’m willing to keep him for as long as necessary while looking for the right family. More than anything, I want him to be happy, loved, and well cared for in a home where he can get the quality of life he deserves.
