Story
Tucker is a 9 year old little darling. He loves being around people and gets along well with his foster family’s other Shih Tzu and cats. He loves long walks where he can enjoy all the smells and sights along the way. He is house-trained, leash trained and crate trained. He knows how to sit and beg for treats and working on additional commands. He is a very laid back dude and only uses his bark to let you know if strangers are at the door.

Story
DOB: 5/19/23                 Approx Weight: 13 Lbs Adoption Fee: $275 includes a 2 week trial to ensure everyone's happiness! Meet Pico — aka Piqueno! 3 years old | Shih Tzu/Terrier Mix | 13 lbs. | Male Pico may only weigh 13 pounds, but this little guy is absolutely packed with personality, playfulness, and LOVE! ❤️ Pico came to Furry Kids after his owner had to move into assisted living. Losing the home and person he knew was a big change, but Pico has adjusted beautifully in his foster home. He is a happy, playful little guy who loves having fun—but when playtime is over, he is more than ready to curl up on your lap. Pico is a true little cuddle bug who loves being close to his person! Pico does great with other dogs. We believe he previously lived with two other dogs, and he is currently sharing his foster home with two furry foster siblings. We do not know how he would do with cats. He does need a slow introduction to other dogs initially. It appears Pico wore a belly band for much, if not all, of his previous life, so he never really learned proper house-training. The good news is that he is catching on quickly! In his first six days in his foster home, he had only ONE accident. His new family will need to continue working with him and be patient and consistent while he finishes learning. Pico already comes when called—although you may not have to call him very often because he really likes sticking close to his human! His foster is currently working with him on “sit” and leash walking. He actually gets pretty excited when the leash comes out because he knows it means he gets to go somewhere! He is crate trained, sleeps through the night, and rides great in the car. Pico is accustomed to having a fenced yard, but we don't feel one is required for him as long as his family is committed to regular walks, potty breaks, and plenty of activity. Pico is simply a happy, affectionate little guy who LOVES attention. He would love a family who wants a little companion to play with, take along on adventures, and—most importantly—snuggle with at the end of the day. If you're looking for a playful little shadow who thinks being with his person is the best place in the world, Pico just might be your guy! ❤️  I have been neutered, vaccinated, heartworm tested negative, wormed and microchipped.  If you are interested in adopting me, please complete the adoption application located at www.furrykidsrefuge.org/adoptadog and a dedicated volunteer will get back to you as soon as possible. Furry Kids' Refuge is in need of good quality dog and puppy food with meat as the first ingredient.  You can drop off donations at our weekly adoption events at the Lee's Summit Petco (1860 NW Chipman Road, Lee's Summit, MO), Saturdays only from 11am to 2:00 p.m.  Donations are tax deductible as allowed by law.  Would you like to foster a Furry Kid? Furry Kids' Refuge will supply the food & vet care while you supply the basic house rules & love.......win-win for all!!  Just visit our website http://www.furrykidsrefuge.org/category/fostering/  for more information. Thanks for your support! Story
Beppe is a loving 3-year-old Shih Tzu with a big personality who I originally acquired from a reputable breeder in 2023. He has a thick, healthy coat and brown eyes, and he is happiest when he’s with his owner, chewing on a Bully stick or at his Mimi’s house with other dogs. He does great with people he knows and has lived comfortably around both dogs and cats. He has a harder time with unfamiliar people, children, and animals and can be reactive or fearful in those situations. He has shown signs of aggression toward strangers and is currently taking Prozac to help with anxiety and reactivity. He also experiences separation anxiety. Because of his anxiety and reactivity, he would do best in a calm, patient home with low foot traffic & with someone who understands these behaviors that is willing to continue working with him. A home without young children may be the best fit, and slow introductions to new people and animals are important.

Story
Meet Hope Hope is an 11-year-old Lhasa Apso with a gentle spirit and a heart that's quietly waiting to learn how to trust again. Originally adopted after spending her early life as a breeding dog, Hope was dearly loved by her owner until they sadly passed away. Now, through no fault of her own, she's looking for another special person willing to give her the time and patience she deserves. Hope isn't the type of dog who will jump into your lap or immediately ask for affection. In fact, she's quite shy with people and needs someone willing to play the long game. Earning her trust takes time, consistency, and understanding—but watching her slowly gain confidence is incredibly rewarding. One thing that does make Hope feel secure? Other dogs. She absolutely thrives around canine companions and would do best in a home with another friendly, confident dog to help show her the ropes. She's also friendly with cats, making her a wonderful addition to the right multi-pet household. Hope is still working on house training. She uses potty pads some of the time but is only partially reliable and continues to have accidents. Going outside can feel overwhelming for her, and she currently shows little interest in pottying outdoors, so her future family should be prepared to continue patiently working with her without expecting overnight success. Despite her timid nature, Hope has a few things she thoroughly enjoys. Mealtime is always a highlight of her day—she has a wonderful appetite—and she even surprised everyone by happily soaking up all the attention during bath time! Hope isn't looking for perfection. She's looking for patience, kindness, and a home where she can move at her own pace with a dog friend by her side. If you understand that some of the deepest bonds are built slowly, Hope just might be your perfect match. 🐾 ----------------------------------------- If you’re interested in adopting, please apply online at mscrescue.org/adopt.
