This is Pablo Neruda, the sweetest little Velcro dog you'll ever meet! He had a rough start in life, so he came into foster unsocialized and fearful. With lots of love and patience, he has really come out of his shell and has shown himself to be cuddly, silly, attentive, and affectionate. He is learning how to walk on a leash very quickly and now gets so excited for walks; he's a master at "heel and likes to walk right at your side on a loose leash. He is working on kennel training and potty training and does well as long as he is let out frequently! In his foster home, he has worn a belly band to prevent his marking because he has not been neutered, but once he's fixed this should improve as neutering reduces marking behavior by 80% in male dogs. He is very scared of stairs and will not use them save for a couple steps, but with training we're sure he'll learn! Pablo wants to stick right by his people and will follow his foster parents everywhere they go. All he wants to is cuddle on the couch and chillax with a movie on! He is learning about dog toys and so far he's loving them! Pablo is dog-friendly and cat-friendly, and does fine with strangers with a slow, patient introduction. Pablo's ideal family would have a calm and quiet home with another dog to help show him the ropes; his foster-sister gave him so much confidence that we think he would thrive with a doggy sibling! He has not been introduced to kids, but his foster family believes he would do fine with kids who are respectful and patient with him. Overall, he needs someone in his life who understands what he's been through, and knows he will need patience, gentleness, and ongoing training to be the best dog he can be! Whoever that lucky person is will get to see just how loyal and loving Pablo is to those who he bonds with.
