Story
OTHER PETS: Kira was interested in meeting other dogs, but most were a bit too excited for her. She's unsure around dogs, so would likely do best with a relaxed, confident dog that can understand when she wants her own space. [Case-By-Case (Must Meet First)]OWNER EXPERIENCE: Kira is a young dog that's still figuring out just how big the world is. As she ages, she'll do best with someone that can be dedicated to helping her build her confidence and supporting her as she continues to learn via positive reinforcement. [First Dog]KIDS: While Kira has been tolerant for handling--though she pulls away from having her teeth looked at--she is sensitive to loud noises and would likely do best in a quieter home without a lot of foot traffic. She would likely do well with older kids or kids that are able to understand how to respectfully interact with her and when to let her have her own space. [13+ (Must Meet First)]ACTIVITY LEVEL: Kira hasn't had a high level of energy while at TJO, but as she settles into a home environment this could always change. That doesn't mean she doesn't know how to play, though, and she'll chase after a ball or squeaky or other toy as long as there's people around to interact with! She's a sweet little lap dog who's highly people-oriented and will do well with a combination of mental enrichment and regular exercise. [Couch Potato / Good Walking Buddy]VETERINARY CARE: [Routine]LEVEL OF TRAINING NEEDED: Kira is still at the beginning of her positive training journey, and will do best learning with someone who can offer patience while she adjusts. Positive reinforcement training will help Kira not only learn new skills and fun tricks, but also help her to feel more comfortable and confident in herself! It will provide a good opportunity for her to bond with her new owner as well. [Minimal]GROOMING: Due to her fur type, Kira will likely need routine appointments with a professional groomer every 6-8 weeks to ensure that she does not become matted. Consistently brushing her in between appointments will also help to keep her clean and comfortable. [Professional Grooming]January 21, 2026, 12:08 pm

Story
Meet Ralphie. This poor little guy was found tied to a chain-link fence in Hartford, abandoned, absolutely terrified and riddled with fear. He ended up at the Hartford town pound where we pulled him. It took a long time for him to begin to start to come out of his shell. Now he is a happy, happy boy and wagging his tail and playing with toys. He gets along great with all the other dogs and does enjoy interacting with them. He is a snuggle bug as well. Ralph does have one issue with some resource guarding. We have been working on this with him and he’s come a long long way. He now will eat his dinner amongst all the other dogs with their bowls on the floor in the kitchen together. However, he can still become possessive of a special toy or his bed or something you drop on the floor that he happens to grab. Due to this resource guarding, we are saying no small children. But with love and patience and continue training, he’s going to make someone a great companion. Ralphie is approximately two years old, 11 pounds and male. We think he is a Shih Tzu mix. He is vetted and neutered. Please visit our website at https://sites.google.com/view/muddymoosemutts/home or email pawrescued2016@gmail.com for an application. His adoption fee is $525.

Story
Hercules lives up to his name — strong, loyal, and fiercely devoted to the one he loves most. This handsome pup forms deep bonds with his person and thrives in a calm, one-on-one environment where he can truly shine.Due to his protective nature, Hercules needs a home with a single adult owner who understands dog behavior and can provide firm, consistent guidance. He becomes very attached to his person and may act defensively around strangers or other animals. But once he trusts you, you’ll have a loving, loyal companion who’s always by your side.Hercules would do best in a quiet home without a lot of visitors or chaos. He’s smart, trainable, and eager to please — he just needs the right environment to feel safe and thrive. No apartments or condos

PLEASE NOTE! Unless stated otherwise, our dogs and puppies are located in Arkansas, and transported to the north/northeast once adopted. We do occasionally have dogs/puppies placed in foster homes in the north/northeast. In the cases where the pet is somewhere other than Arkansas, it will be noted beside the name of the pet.1/17/26 Prudence and Princeton are a happy, sweet, little bonded pair of Shih Tzus (possibly mixed with Lhasa Apso?). These 2 precious babies were found as strays, and it was later found that their owner had moved and left them behind. Prudence is the girl and she has the darker coloring. She is slightly smaller than her brother. They are both around 15 lbs. They are a little bit shy at first, but warm up quickly with a little bit of baby talk. They have been with their foster for a little while now because it took a while for us to fit them into the spay/neuter schedule. Princeton has a cherry eye that will be surgically fixed next week. Once that is done, they will be ready for their own home! We feel that it is important for their mental health to be kept together, because they are very bonded to one another. They both seem to be young, around 2 years old. They will need a little help with house training, but they do well in their crate at their foster home. Once they are in their own home where they can receive more individual attention, they will learn faster. It is difficult to work on training in their current foster situation. These little ones are going to be such a great addition to someone's family! Prudence and Princeton are located in Arkansas. They can be adopted locally, but transport is available to the New England area as well. Adopter must be able to pick up or arrange for someone to pick up for them in PA, NY, or CT on Saturdays. To apply, please fill out the adoption app: https://form.jotform.com/212690945239059 Message us or email apps.aasr@gmail.com with any questions.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.Our typical adoption fee for puppies younger than 6 months old is $400, and for older puppies and adults, the usual fee is $350. This includes microchip, spay/neuter,  up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, dewormings, flea/tick treatment, and heartworm test (if over 6 months old) as well as heartworm treatment if they test positive. There is a transport fee of $150 per dog, depending on the transporter. We use Pack Leaders Rescue Dog Transport most often, but also use Hearts Transport as well on occasion.
