He loves playing with the other puppies in his foster home, chasing toys, and zooming around being silly. Cameo’s happy personality shines through everything he does — from his playful hops to his curious little nose nudges. When he first arrived, Cameo had a sensitive tummy and some digestive struggles. His tests were all clear for parasites, so we went into detective mode and discovered that his system does best on Zignature kibble topped with Steve’s and a spoonful of pumpkin. His tummy has been much happier since! He may outgrow this sensitivity, or he may always need a quality diet to stay feeling his best. Cameo is also known for his shadow skills — he loves to follow foster mom everywhere and occasionally get underfoot, so he’s not suited for homes with mobility concerns or very small children. TeddyBears are known for their affectionate, people-loving nature and fun, spunky personalities. Cameo fits that perfectly! He’ll need regular grooming and frequent brushing to keep his soft coat looking great. Preference will be given to homes with children (ages 6+) or a playful young dog. Cameo’s adoption fee is $550. He is current on age-appropriate vaccines, microchipped, and on monthly flea and heartworm prevention. He is not yet neutered due to age; a neuter contract is required, and Leia’s Hope will cover a portion of the cost if completed between 6–9 months. Leia’s Hope Canine Rescue is a volunteer-run, foster-based rescue. Applications take 7–10 business days to process. Approved application required before a meet and greet, which must include all family members (dogs included). We do not transport or allow cargo flights. Adopters must travel to the dog’s location for adoption. Dogs are a lifetime commitment — please be sure you’re ready to love Cameo for the next 12+ years.

3/20/25 Roberta is a very sweet girl that prefers to snooze in her crate. Roberta gets along with all the other dogs here, whether they are small or large. Roberta needs a fenced yard as she does not know how to walk on a leash. She is due for a dental next month, and we will also have the vet do a good physical on her at that time. 10/23/24 We can't believe Roberta is still here. Someone, PLEASE give her a home of her own! Roberta is a 9 year old gold and white Shih Tzu weighing about 11 pounds. She came to us a year ago, and she likes to think she's in charge. This girlie loves to be out in the back fenced yard, monitoring the other dogs and the neighborhood. She likes to find a sunny spot to catch some sun, then moves to a cool spot to enjoy the breeze. She's still working on her house training and relaxing around people. Roberta gets along with the other dogs here and sleeps quietly in her crate at night. UPDATE - 10/14/25 /Roberta recently had her vaccinations updated and at her visit the vet told us to continue waiting on doing a dental. She had lost a couple of her bad teeth, and the vet said at this age, she'd prefer to not do a dental on her as her tarter is not a concern at this time. Her sight is dimming, but there is nothing our vet thinks is a concern with her aging. She's a sweet girl that really wants little from her humans other than trips out to potty, 2 meals a day, and a treat at bedtime. She prefers to spend her time in her bed with little attention from her humans as many former breeder dogs do.

We have the Three Amigos who joined our rescue a few months ago. They were found covered in ticks and abandoned in the woods. Their initial vetting has been completed. We have DNA tested them, and Steve, Chevy, and Martin are brothers - mainly a mix of Shih Tzu, Chihuahua, and Bichon Frise. They really would enjoy either a house with a young dog that likes to run and play, or the best option would be that they were adopted together. But we know that is asking a lot. These boys sleep quietly in their crates at night and are learning to accept human attention, settling in for a short time on your lap. They have LOTS of ENERGY and need a securely fenced area to run and chase and play. We have not walked them on a leash, so a fenced yard is a must. They are waiting for their Person to see them and give them a home.
