Summer Breeze...makes me feel fine...blowing through the jasmine in my miiiiinnnd My foster mumsie sings that to me because she says I remind her of that song ....I'm like a warm Summer Breeze coming to bring you out of your winter woes. I make friends with all the dogs big and small, I like cats,I love kids,and I am gentle, wiggle butt of happiness all the time. My foster mumsie says another big bonus is that I'm like a shihtzu for someone on a budget... I have the cute squishy face and none of that long hair that has to be continuously groomed. Win-win! Summer is a wonderful little Shihtzu mix of some such. She is approx a year old and 14lbs grown. She is extremely easy,happy,and affectionate. She gets along with all of my dogs and fosters ,my cats,and the neighbor kids love her. They are at my door daily to see if she can come out and play. Summer recalls like a dream and doesn't run off if not on leash,but she also has great leash skills now. She is kennel trained and sleeps overnight in her kennel. She loves toys and to play, starting to learn fetch with little smaller 's. She is very gentle and would be perfect for a family even with small children. She is still working on her potty training, but is learning fast. She is maybe medium energy. While she does love to play and bounce around she also can just sit on your lap while watching a movie. Local adoption fee is $200 (in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $400 (includes transport to your area - $50 Temporary Fuel Charge will be added)

10/23/24 We can't believe Roberta is still here. Someone, PLEASE give her a home of her own! Roberta is a 9 year old gold and white Shih Tzu weighing about 11 pounds. She came to us a year ago, and she likes to think she's in charge. This girlie loves to be out in the back fenced yard, monitoring the other dogs and the neighborhood. She likes to find a sunny spot to catch some sun, then moves to a cool spot to enjoy the breeze. She's still working on her house training and relaxing around people. Roberta gets along with the other dogs here and sleeps quietly in her crate at night. She needs her own family that can help her learn all the secrets of being a family member in a home. If you are looking for a high octane, energizer bunny who takes naps nestled up close to their person, then I'm your guy. Nelly's the name, being cute is the game. It's not vain to say I am the handsomest 2 year old, 7 lb, Shih Tzu you'll ever see -- Those are just the facts. While I am new to such things as "toys," I will say that I have mastered those things you call bully sticks, and I do love playing and carousing with my fellow foster pups. I love to run wild outside with my friends so a fenced yard is a MUST -- catch me if you can! Sure, I play hard, but what I want more than anything is a good lap snuggle, so if you need a lap dog, I'm your man. I'm a good boy and will make my nest in a crate at bedtime, but I would be more than happy to cozy up with my human if that's an option at bedtime. I'm a quick learner and doing quite well with potty training (I sleep through the night without incident, no problem). I'm still working on harnessing all my energy when it comes to leash walking, but I am an earnest student and as long as I have a stylish vest/harness to prance about in, I'll be good to go in no time. I'm just one rambunctious cuddler looking for my forever family. Due to my tiny stature I will not be placed in a home with young children. I’m up to date on all my shots, have had a dental, had a negative heartworm test and am on monthly preventative. I’m also neutered, dewormed and microchipped. Ready and waiting, folks. I'm Kimmie! [Squirrel!!] Oh sorry. I got distracted for a moment. Yes, hello there. I'm a sweet and energetic 2 year old Shih Tzu who loves to be your bodyguard and watch your every movement [Squirrel!!]. As I was saying, I am an excellent kisser and am learning how to walk properly on a leash. AND I have a purple belt in going potty outside (I think that means I am doing pretty well). That is what Diamond wants to be! She is a sweet little lady that has a pretty chocolate coat and likes to play. She likes to keep things simple and prefers not a ton of chaos. Diamond loves toys, snuggles, and running around outside. She can be a little shy but warms up quickly. She would do best with another young dog to play with and help her with her confidence. Children are also great as we think she would love to grow up with a best friend! Diamond was treated for giardia, a common parasite found in puppy mills. Her stools should be retested after 30 days. Diamond is a healthy, happy, snuggly puppy! Diamond's adoption is $500. She is current on age appropriate vaccines, microchipped and on monthly heart worm prevention. She has not been spayed due to her age. A spay contract is required and covered by LHCR if using our vet in Troy, MO. Visit leiashope.org for next steps. PLEASE NOTE: We are a volunteer ran rescue with full time jobs. Please allow 7-10 days for application processing. All of our dogs are in foster homes and a meet and greet is done ONLY after an approved application. We do adopt out of the area. However, we do not ship or provide transportation. You must come to the location of the dog to meet and adopt. NO EXCEPTION. All family members and dogs must be present at the meet. Dogs are a commitment for THEIR lifetime. For puppies this could be 15 years. If YOU cannot commit to the lifetime of the DOG, please do not apply. Puppies under 9 months must go to a home where there is someone home frequently (works from home or a partner is home), can adequately socialize and train the puppy, and can keep up with puppy energy!
