Story
Meet Moira: From Rescued to Royalty! When Moira first came to us, she was a bit of a mess. Matted, uncomfortable with an ear infection, and completely full of foxtails. But if you think that dimmed her spirit for even a second, you don’t know Moira! At 2 years old, this resilient Shih Tzu mix has put her rough past behind her and is ready to live the pampered life she always deserved. Moira’s energy is a perfect 10! She has a zest for life and absolutely LOVES to play with her foster dog siblings, her toys, and every person she meets. When playtime is over, she transitions seamlessly into a professional lovebug. (Her favorite things in the world are giving kisses and curling up for snuggles.) She would love a home with a playful dog friend or an active human to keep up with her fun-loving vibe. Cat Approved (With a Catch): She has been non-reactive to cats thus far, though her high-energy play style might be a bit too much for a sensitive feline roommate. Crate & Sleep: She sleeps beautifully in her crate, though she will always vote to snuggle in bed with her people if given the choice. Pampering Required: Moira needs a family committed to regular professional grooming sessions to keep her looking and feeling like the princess she is. Moira survived the unknown with a wagging tail, and now she's ready to find her forever family. Could it be you? Moira has been spayed, is current on vaccines, has tested negative for heartworm and is microchipped. If you are interested in adopting Moira, please complete an adoption application on our website (uaaf.org/adopt). For more information, call/text Jessa at 385-522-3159 or email jessa.hurty@gmail.com

Story
Meet Haruto Male DOB: June 10, 2022 Weight: 15 pounds Breed: Shih Tzu Neutered (Fixed) Vaccines: Up to Date Microchipped Healthy & Adoption-Ready Personality, Breed Info & Expectations Haruto is a silly, friendly little dog with a big personality packed into a tiny package. At 3 years old, he has the perfect combination of playful charm and adult maturity. He loves being around people and has a fun-loving spirit that brings smiles wherever he goes. Haruto enjoys attention, companionship, and being involved in everyday activities. Whether he's making you laugh with his goofy antics, following you around the house, or curling up beside you after a busy day, he thrives on spending time with his family and being part of the action. As a Shih Tzu, Haruto is likely to be affectionate, social, and people-oriented. Shih Tzus were bred to be companion dogs, and they excel at forming close bonds with their families. They enjoy being included in daily life and are happiest when they are surrounded by love and attention. Haruto would thrive in a home prepared for: Daily companionship and interaction Continued training and guidance Mental stimulation and enrichment Structure, consistency, and routine Plenty of love and affection A lifelong commitment to his emotional and physical well-being His small size and friendly personality make him an excellent companion for a variety of households. Training, Adjustment & What to Expect Many rescue dogs come from uncertain beginnings and may not have had structure, socialization, or training before arriving at rescue. Because of this, most rescue dogs arrive with only basic training at best, and some may have had no formal training at all. The rescue environment itself also does not always allow for extensive one-on-one training. While we work hard to provide safety, structure, socialization, and basic guidance, adopters should expect to continue training and support after adoption. Like all rescue dogs, Haruto may need time to adjust to a new home and routine. Patience, consistency, and positive reinforcement will help him settle in and feel secure as he learns his new environment. Haruto will benefit from: Positive reinforcement training Daily structure and routine Continued socialization and exposure Exercise and mental stimulation Patience, consistency, and supervision Please remember the 3-3-3 Rule: 3 days to decompress 3 weeks to learn your routine 3 months to fully feel at home With patience, guidance, and commitment, dogs like Haruto blossom into deeply loyal lifelong companions. Owner Responsibilities & Veterinary Care Owning a dog is a lifelong commitment that includes training, daily exercise, companionship, routine veterinary care, financial responsibility, and emotional commitment throughout every stage of life. Haruto will need: Daily walks, exercise, and interaction Continued training and guidance Routine veterinary care and wellness exams Preventative care including flea, tick, and heartworm prevention Proper nutrition and weight management Regular grooming and coat maintenance Mental stimulation and enrichment A safe, stable, indoor living environment Because of his Shih Tzu coat, regular grooming and coat care will be important to keep him comfortable and healthy. Consistent veterinary care, emotional stability, proper nutrition, and daily companionship are all essential to helping Haruto thrive in his future home. Haruto is an indoor family dog and is not to be chained or left outside. Story
We bought her from the Puppy Barn as a puppy. Her birthday is March 9. She has been part of our family for the past 10 years. She is sweet and lovable. Now that our kids are grown and out of the house, we are moving to a place where dogs are not accepted. We are sad to look into this option but have no choice. We would love her to be re homed somewhere that she can be loved as we have loved her. She is definitely an inside dog and will keep you company! She is very insightful to your feelings!
