Story
Meet Shaggy! This handsome honey-colored Shih Tzu has quite the comeback story. When Shaggy arrived at the shelter, years of neglect had left his coat so severely matted that no one could even tell what breed—or what sex—he was. He had to be sedated for a full shave-down and lost an incredible 2 pounds of matted fur in the process. Despite everything he’s been through, Shaggy is a happy boy with a heart full of love. He adores his people and is ready to make up for lost time enjoying all the affection he missed. Shaggy recently had a dental and lost a few teeth, but he’s feeling much better now. He gets along with other dogs, though he’d truly love being your one and only. He appears to be housebroken, knows how to use a dog door, and enjoys spending time outside. Seeing a leash makes him downright giddy, so a family that enjoys walks would make his day! One thing to know about Shaggy: he growls when he communicates. It’s simply how he talks and isn’t a sign of aggression. After years of being overlooked, Shaggy is ready for a family who will cherish him and give him the love he has always deserved. Could that be you? Shaggy has been neutered, is current on vaccines, has tested negative for heartworm and is microchipped. If you are interested in adopting Shaggy, please complete an adoption application on our website (uaaf.org/adopt). Story
Meet Benny Given a Second Chance—Now Ready to Find the Forever Family He Deserves ❤️ Breed: Jack Russell Terrier / Shih Tzu Mix Gender: Male | DOB: April 29, 2026 | Weight/Expected Size: 10 lbs (Expected Small to Medium) Good With: Dogs ✔️ | Cats: Unknown | Kids ✔️ Medical: ✔️ Neuter Pending (Age-Appropriate) | ✔️ Current for Age Vaccinations | ✔️ Microchipped Location: Los Angeles, California Transportation: Ozzie and Friends Rescue provides safe transportation to approved adopters throughout the United States. https://www.ozzieandfriendsrescue.org/adoptions ❤️ Personality, Breed Information & Benny's Story Benny is proof that every puppy deserves a fresh start. At just a few months old, Benny was surrendered by his previous owner through no fault of his own. While losing the only home he had ever known was confusing, Benny has embraced his second chance with an open heart and a wagging tail. Now he's looking for a forever family that will love him for a lifetime. Benny is a cheerful, affectionate puppy who brings happiness wherever he goes. He loves meeting new people, exploring his surroundings, and playing with toys before settling in for cuddle time. His friendly personality and sweet nature make him easy to fall in love with. Curious and eager to learn, Benny enjoys discovering the world around him. Whether he's chasing after a ball, following you around the house, or curling up beside you for a nap, he's happiest when he's part of the family's daily adventures. As a Jack Russell Terrier / Shih Tzu Mix, Benny offers a wonderful blend of intelligence, playfulness, and affection. The Jack Russell side brings confidence, curiosity, and an energetic spirit, while the Shih Tzu contributes a loving, loyal, and people-oriented personality. With continued guidance and positive reinforcement, Benny is expected to mature into a devoted companion who enjoys both playtime and quiet moments with his family. Benny would thrive in a home that offers: Plenty of love and companionship Positive reinforcement training Daily puppy exercise and supervised playtime Interactive toys and mental enrichment Continued socialization with people and other dogs A consistent daily routine A safe indoor home where he's treated as a beloved member of the family A lifetime of love, patience, and commitment Benny's first family couldn't keep him, but that doesn't define his future. He's ready to find the family that will love him forever. Training, Adjustment & What to Expect Benny is still a young puppy and is in one of the most important learning stages of his life. Like all puppies, he'll need guidance as he learns house manners, basic obedience, and confidence in new situations. Please remember the 3-3-3 Rule: 3 Days to decompress and begin feeling safe 3 Weeks to learn your household routine 3 Months to fully settle into family life Benny will benefit from: Positive reinforcement training House-training and consistent routines Puppy-safe exercise and supervised play Continued socialization with people and other animals Mental enrichment through toys, games, and training sessions Plenty of patience, encouragement, and love With consistency and gentle guidance, Benny will grow into a confident, well-mannered, and loyal companion. Owner Responsibilities & Veterinary Care Bringing home a puppy is a lifelong commitment that includes providing veterinary care, training, exercise, and plenty of love. Benny will need: Completion of his puppy vaccination schedule Neutering when age-appropriate Monthly flea, tick, and heartworm prevention A high-quality diet to support healthy growth Daily exercise and mental stimulation Ongoing obedience training and socialization A safe, loving indoor home We recommend scheduling a wellness examination with your veterinarian shortly after adoption to establish care and ensure Benny continues to grow into a healthy, happy adult dog. Adoption Information If you are interested in adopting Benny, please complete an adoption application by visiting: https://www.ozzieandfriendsrescue.org/adoptions Thank you for considering adoption through Ozzie and Friends Rescue, a Los Angeles-based nonprofit dedicated to giving dogs a second chance at a loving home. Benny's story is only just beginning. His next chapter could be filled with family adventures, cozy naps, endless belly rubs, and the unconditional love every puppy deserves. All that's missing is the family he'll call his own. ❤️September 13, 2026, 7:55 am
