Story
Crimson is being fostered in VA. Crimson is blind and has kidney disease. Crimson Update – April 1, 2026: Crimson has settled into his foster home, making friends with his foster parents and the four other blind dogs who live in the home. He now knows all about evening sofatime with his foster mom and the other pups, and, after a belly and head rub, takes a nap. He is doing a great job learning to go up and down the two steps from the deck into the yard and then back into the house again. And, with the warmer weather, he likes to take a quick roll in the grass when he goes out to do his business. Crimson does have dry eye now, so is on daily Optimmune (eye ointment). He does a very good job at medication time. For more information about this sweet boy, read what his foster home wrote about him in February 2026. See below. Crimson is a friendly little guy who loves belly rubs! If you would like to know more about this special pup, read on! Crimson is from Florida. His family could no longer care for him and so they turned him over to the Blind Dog Rescue Alliance. He traveled to his Virginia BDRA foster home in January 2026 and made friends all along the way. Crimson has settled into his foster home quite well! There are four other blind dogs in the home and Crimson gets along just fine with each of them. He is happy to share a bed and doesn’t mind if a dog bumps into him. He ignores the family cat. At night, he settles easily into his bed and sleeps through the night. He is housetrained – not a single accident yet! He has a deep bark and, when he first arrived, he barked fairly often but now that he is learning the routine, he barks only occasionally (usually when anticipating a meal!). As mentioned, he loves belly rubs and he enjoys head rubs too. He also likes toys. Crimson is blind, diagnosed with SARDS several years ago. SARDS (Sudden Acquired Retinal Degeneration Syndrome) is a condition that causes rapid and irreversible blindness due to changes within the retina. In addition, he arrived at his foster home with ear infections that are in the process of being treated. He hears well though and he doesn’t let his blindness bother him at all. His eyes are currently healthy although he does have some clear discharge at times. Crimson also has been diagnosed with kidney disease/kidney failure along with high blood pressure. He is on a prescription kidney diet (Purina) and also on Benazepril twice a day. We don’t know all the details about Crimson’s medical history before he arrived at his foster home and – as is true with any rescue dog – we can’t predict what the future holds for his health. Anyone interested in adopting Crimson should first speak with their vet about canine kidney disease so there is an understanding of this disease, its progression, and how it is treated. Crimson has not spent time with children and, although he is such a nice dog, he should be adopted into a home with older children or adults only. And he should always be supervised when he is with young children, as all dogs should be. If you think you can provide this sweet, gentle dog the wonderful forever home he deserves, complete an application today! BDRA has voted against the use of electrical fencing effective immediately.

Story
Scout, is a 10-year-old shih tzu mix who started life in a puppy mill, making her a bit shy around humans. But when it comes to dogs—especially Sophie—Scout is all in. Scout enjoys walks alongside Sophie, though she prefers to avoid grass.Sophie is potty-trained, while Scout prefers using a potty pad due to lingering effects from her early life. Her BFF Sophie, a 9-year-old beagle mix, is the ultimate social butterfly—she adores dogs, cats, people, and even carrots! She’s happiest on a stroll but also enjoys neighborhood watch duty from her favorite cozy spot. Though she was recently diagnosed with diabetes, she’s doing well with insulin management. Both pups are up to date on vaccines and looking for a home filled with love. Can you give this loveable, bonded pair a safe space? If you are interested in fostering, adopting, or fostering to adopt these besties, we`d love to hear from you!

Story
Meet Julius Caesar AKA: The cutest tiny dictator Vibe Check: Distinguished senior statesman. Low drama. High cuddle diplomacy. Fun Fact: Julius Caesar is a professional couch potato—but please install guardrails. His depth perception is less "military strategy" and more "abstract art". Rescue: Albert’s Dog Lounge Age: Senior (aged like a fine Roman wine) Weight: 12 lbs of pure imperial elegance Health Notes (All Hail the Honest Scroll): Julius's vision isn’t great, and his hearing may be questionable… or he may simply be choosing peace and ignoring you. Et tu, Brutus? He is on Optimune ($55 per tube) but doesn't mind it. Current Residence: Monroe, WI (far from Rome, but still respectable) Activity Level: Low… except for his daily, non-negotiable Zoomies of the Republic™ Social Skills: Dogs (will politely relocate if play gets too rowdy) Cats Older, respectful kids Loves the ladies, but REALLY loves men. Full-butt-wag allegiance. No judgment—everyone has a type. Sleep Style: Strictly dog beds only. No furniture hopping. No risky jumps. Julius believes in peace, stability, and not falling off things. Dining Preferences: Stella & Chewy’s raw kibble topped with meat, served twice daily. Refined palate. No counter surfing. Knows his lane and stays in it. Bark-O-Meter: 0/10 Julius believes barking is beneath a civilized ruler. Shedding Meter: 0/10 (but yes—regular grooming is required. Great hair doesn’t govern itself.) Fashion Sense: A toga. Of course. Signature Color: Crimson—because it pops against his inky black fur. Extras: Walk-Out Song: "Julius Caesar" by French Montana Favorite Pastime: Sunny day naps on the deck Best Feature: Softest fur ever. Must missing a crown of laurel leaves Signature Move: Locate soft bed → immediate nap Love Language: Car rides on a cozy blanket, lounging near your desk on a plush dog bed, or chewing a marrow bone while you watch TV. If given the option, Julius would chew marrow bones 24/7 without regret. The Final Decree: Julius Caesar is happy, cuddly, and deeply committed to chin scratches—his greatest joy in life. He thrives on routine, sleeps through the night, and is a pee-pad professional on the rare occasion one is needed. In summary: Julius Caesar is ready to lay down his laurel crown and retire directly into your heart. But will he find a home before the Ides of March? Neutered Microchipped Working on potty training. Uses belly bands and pee pads for now. Story
Meet Mia – The Sweet Sloth-Faced Dreamer With a Nose for Adventure 🖤🤍Nickname: Baby ReindeerBreed: Shih Tzu / Brussels Griffon MixAge: 6 yearsWeight: 14 lbsCurrently Residing: Oregon, WIMia's StoryMia was found as a stray along a roadside in Georgia, so we don't know her background, but one thing is certain: this little girl has all the love in the world to give. She made her way to Wisconsin, and now she's ready to find the forever home she's always deserved. Mia moves through life with quiet curiosity and zero fear. She doesn't let anything slow her down — especially not a squeaky toy hiding somewhere on the floor.Personality & Fun FactsActivity Level: Low to Medium. Mia is a gentle explorer who roams the house sniffing out adventures, soaks up sunny spots on her soft dog bed, and loves nothing more than climbing into a warm lap for cuddles.Fun Fact: This girl has LEGS. Mia is surprisingly tall for her breed and trots around the house like an adorable baby reindeer — long-legged, elegant, and full of quiet charm.Friendly With: Adults, older children, cats, and small dogs. She currently lives peacefully with two small dog housemates and loves to follow them around the house.Sleep Style: Cozy dog bed on the floor — she has two or three favorites and knows exactly which patch of sunlight belongs to her.Bark-o-Meter: 1 — Mia is nearly silent. The only time she'll speak up is when her dinner is late, and honestly, fair enough.Shedding Meter: 2 out of 10 — minimal shedding with a gorgeous black and white coat.Mia's PreferencesMeals: Soft batch freeze-dried patties mixed with a bit of dry kibble, twice a day. Favorite treat: beef freeze-dried snacks.Fashion: a hooded raincoat and rain boots for dancing in the rainSignature Color: Bright, bold spring colors~ bright pinks and lime greensFavorite Season: Spring! Her long legs and soft coat scream baby fawn in a meadow — she was simply made for blooming flowers and fresh air.Walk-Out Song: Love Will Keep Us Together by Captain & Tennille 🎵 — because she loves everyone she meets, and she wants everyone to know it.Special NeedsVision: Mia has no vision in her right eye and very limited vision in her left. She navigates beautifully using her nose and memory, but she will need a patient adopter who gives her time to learn the layout of her new home. She does wonderfully on a short leash outdoors — feeling her human at the other end gives her all the confidence she needs.Learning the Lay of the Land: Mia may bump into things gently at first, but she quickly memorizes her routes and settles in with grace. No special equipment needed — just patience and love.Likes & DislikesLoves: Squeaky toys (she will stomp her little feet to find them!), sunny dog beds, lap time, sniffing absolutely everything, following her dog friends around, and seeking out her humans for pets. Not Worried About: Basically anything. Mia is remarkably confident and calm for a dog with such limited vision. She is not fearful of people, sounds, or other animals.Commands She KnowsMia knows her name and responds to it reliably. She also knows "no." A quick learner with the right motivation! Why Mia is SpecialLook at that face. Mia's black and white coloring and sweet expression make her look just like a little sloth — and once you meet her, you'll never want to let her go. She is a true lap dog at heart, seeking out her people and placing her little paws on your leg as if to say "excuse me, I believe this spot belongs to me." Independent enough to nap in the sun on her own, but always ready to curl up with someone she loves.Mia doesn't need perfect eyesight to find joy — she finds it everywhere, in every sniff, every squeak, and every warm lap she can locate.Could you be Mia's forever person? If you have a calm, loving home and a lap to spare, this sweet, soulful girl is ready to trot her long reindeer legs straight into your heart. 🦌🖤🤍SpayedMicrochippedTreat motivatedWalks happily on leashRoams freely when home aloneHousebrokenUTD on vaccinationsUTD on preventativesAlbert's Dog Lounge is a specialty rescue focusing primarily on senior and special needs dogs. Our process includes an approved application, reference checks, a homevisit, and then a meet and greet with the dog.
