Duchess came to Dakin from a home with multiple cats. She is very nervous here at the shelter and will need a family with lots of patience to help her adjust to her new home. She has had access to the outdoors in her previous home but would also do well as an indoor only cat. Change is hard for this cat. This cat will be very nervous when you first bring them home. You will need to set up a room with a litter box, food, and water. It will take days for this cat to become comfortable and confident in the new home. This cat will be going home with a behavior plan that will need to be followed in order for everyone to transition successfully. This cat has specific litterbox needs. When you bring this cat home they will need to be set up in a room by themselves. This cat will go home with a behavior plan that you will need to follow in order for them to use the litterbox reliably. Ready to Adopt? You have two options: #1- VISIT IN PERSON Come during our open adoption hours: Tuesday - Saturday,12:30 - 3:00pm. You’ll be able to meet available cats in the shelter. (Cats in foster care are not available for in-person visits.) #2- ADOPT REMOTELY OR PLACE A 24-HOUR HOLD** If you’re ready to adopt without meeting the cat first, or you’d like to place a non-refundable $25 hold to reserve a cat for 24 hours, just call or email us: (413) 781-4000 x 1 springfield@dakinhumane.org. Gabriel is a sweet boy who was originally found as a stray but has been living in a home. He came in with three other cats and has done well living with other feline friends in the past. Meet Dusty 🌫️Dusty is a beautiful 2-year-old Siamese currently living in a loving foster home. Though she has a bit of a medical history, she is doing well with twice-daily medication to prevent seizures of unknown origin. She's quite smart and may hide when it's time for her meds, but takes it easily once her hiding spot is discovered.Despite this, Dusty is still young at heart and has a playful, curious personality. She enjoys batting around toys and exploring her surroundings, always ready for her next little adventure. Dusty also appreciates the company of other respectful cats; she may take a moment to observe before joining in, but she generally does well with calm, cat-savvy friends.This sweet girl enjoys gentle attention and likes being held and petted — especially when she’s in the mood — before she’s off again to see what’s happening around her.
