Story
Molly is a STUNNING 7 year old, 124 lb purebred Saint Bernard. Rescued from a puppy mill after a life as a breeding mom, this girl could not be sweeter! She is wonderful with other dogs of all sizes, goats, donkeys, horses, and even chickens. Although she initially didn't know what treats, toys, or beds were, she has learned all of these wonderful things and is food motivated. She is playful and extremely loving! True to her breed, she is loyal and gentle but is startled by young children, so she needs a home with kids over 14. She adores her humans, loves to be pet, and thinks she is a lap dog! Best of all, you don't have to bend down to reach her! Molly is housetrained, great on leash, comes when called, and is working on basic commands. She rides well in the car and enjoys being outside but is just as happy to hang out indoors. This soulful girl is extremely quiet and doesn't get into things in the house. Molly had surgery for entropion but is still on eye ointment. You won't find a better or more deserving girl than Molly! Molly is available for adoption but is also in need of a foster home. To Adopt (or foster-to-adopt), please complete the adoption application here: https://anewchancear.org/adopt/adoption-application To Foster, please complete the foster application here: https://anewchancear.org/foster/fostering-application/ Thank you so much for your interest in adopting a dog from A New Chance Animal Rescue (https://anewchancear.org). We are a 501c3, tax deductible organization. ANCAR is a foster-based rescue, and we adopt within a 90 mile radius of Bedford Hills, NY. You will find the adoption application here: (https://anewchancear.org/adopt/adoption-application/). All fields on the application must be completed. Please read about the adoption process (https://www.anewchancear.org/adopt/our-adoption-process/) so you'll know what to expect when you submit. Our dogs are in foster care and we do NOT have a shelter or boarding facility. AN APPLICATION MUST BE COMPLETED IN FULL AND APPROVED BEFORE A DOG CAN BE MET. This is a firm policy. Our busy volunteers are not able to respond to questions about the dog or dog meeting requests in the absence of an application. We know these dogs very well because they are in foster care. Please read the profiles of the dog(s) you are interested in prior to submitting an application. If there are specific requirements stated (ie: Fenced Yard or Canine Friend Required) these are included because they are vital to the happiness, health, safety and adoption success of that dog. We are only able to save as many dogs as we have foster homes (https://www.anewchancear.org/foster/faqs/) and resources for. We provide medical care including vaccinations, testing, deworming, spaying/neutering and microchipping before transporting our dogs. We provide all supplies, preventatives and any follow up vet care necessary while they are in foster care. These costs are high and the number of lives we can save is entirely dependent upon donations from people like you. We do not receive funding from private foundations or government sources. If you can find room in your heart to help us, with any amount, we are truly grateful (https://www.anewchancear.org/help/donate/). We are a 501c3 organization, so all donations are tax-deductible. It is only through the kindness of supporters like you that we are 'changing lives...one tail at a time' by providing our dogs with 'A New Chance.' (https://anewchancear.org) Thanks so much.

If you’ve ever dreamed of sharing your life with dogs that hail from the breathtaking valleys of the Swiss Alps, Bear and Bunny might just be the companions for you! These two gentle giants, with a lineage traced back to the famous St. Bernard rescue dogs of the Great St. Bernard Pass, are looking for a family that understands their special needs. They are just a year old. **Bear** is a handsome male with the strength and bravery of his St. Bernard ancestors. True to his name, Bear can be a little intolerant of other male dogs, and while we hope neutering and proper socialization will help, his ideal home would be one where he’s the only male dog. Bear has been trained to wear a basket muzzle when needed, and while he’s lovable and incredibly loyal, potential adopters should be prepared for ongoing socialization work. If you’re okay with the possibility that Bear may always need to live without another male dog, then you’ll have a devoted, giant-hearted companion by your side. **Bunny** is Bear’s sweet counterpart, and while she’s equally lovable, she too is still learning how to interact peacefully with other dogs. Both Bear and Bunny have been trained to wear basket muzzles, and though they’re perfect in so many ways, we’re not yet ready to trust them in a home with other dogs **without close supervision and frequent intervention to manage interactions**. Both Bear and Bunny are **intelligent, quick learners** who know basic commands like **sit, down, and off**. They also **walk beautifully on a leash**, making them a joy to take on long walks or hikes. With the right guidance, their intelligence and willingness to learn will make further training both rewarding and fun. **They are available for adoption together or individually**, so whether you’re looking for a dynamic duo or a solo St. Bernard to love, you can bring one (or both!) of these majestic dogs into your home. If you have the space, patience, and experience to guide these beautiful, gentle souls, they’ll reward you with boundless love, loyalty, and the companionship only a St. Bernard can offer. Don’t let their imposing size fool you – Bear and Bunny are all about affection and will melt into your heart with every snuggle. **Please Note**: Bear and Bunny will do best in a home without other dogs for now, and Bear may not ever be suited to living with another male dog. If you’re up for the challenge and reward of helping these giants continue their journey to becoming well-socialized family members, we’d love to hear from you!&#226&#157&#164&#239&#184&#143&#226&#157&#164&#239&#184&#143 Adoption Application here: https://form.jotform.com/10941043786October 1, 2024, 1:43 pm

Story
Dottie is a sweet St. Bernard mix weighing in around 50 pounds. She is approximately 2-3 years old. Dot Dot as her foster folks affectionately call her was found the first week in October of 2023 along with her 4 pups. She was in sad shape, and it has taken 6 months to get her healthy. She is fully vaccinated to include bordetella, been treated for heart-worms, started on monthly heart-worm preventative, and has been spayed. She is playful, yet also calm. She is good with other dogs. She currently lives with 3 other female dogs. She is house trained and crate trained and has NEVER had an accident in the house. Dot knows the commands “sit”, “kennel” to get in her crate, “stay back” to not rush the door, and “down” when she gets excited and I want her to be calm. Dot comes when called. She enjoys riding in cars and on ATVs. She has never offered to chew on anything that’s not a dog toy. Dot loves the outside and spends most of her time on my front porch. Dot’s only con is that she loves to chase cats, but all 6 of our cats are still alive 6 months later…she just chases them and I haven’t been able to break that habit. She walks well on a leash with a regular collar, but I do use a “pinch collar” when I think we may encounter cats or other wildlife. She doesn’t love a bath, but she gets in the shower to be bathed without much fuss. I believe Dottie was likely just left to her own devices in a pen or on a chain before we found her abandoned on a rural dirt road. So she has had to learn to be a pet, but I think she is really enjoying the process. I would not call her food aggressive, but maybe food possessive…which I believe is a holdover from her not getting regular meals. I feed all the dogs in their own spaces to avoid confrontations and to make sure they all get what they need. Problem solved. She has come a long way and will make someone a loving and loyal pet. However, Dottie is currently being fostered in Georgia. She would love to make her way up north to a forever family.

Story
* 4 Little Paws is helping a Texas Animal Shelter by featuring a few wonderful dogs patiently waiting to find forever homes! Meet Oso! This life-sized teddy bear is the definition of a gentle giant and is adored by all who meet him! He’s 108 pounds of slow-moving, laid-back, gentle love and sweetness. This oh so handsome and huggable guy wants nothing more than to be loved on by all the people. Oso craves human affection and becomes fast friends with anyone who will pet him, even kiddos! He loves being the center of attention and will happily lay beside you for as long as you are touching him. He greatly enjoys receiving hugs, cuddles, brushings, and smooches! Despite his size, he is incredibly easy to handle and is always polite when asking for attention. If multiple people are around and he wants more pets than he’s getting, he will rotate to every person for more lovies. He is an absolute charm on the leash with no pulling and typically follows along with his person. He is completely potty trained and will even bark at you to let you know if he really needs to go! Oso may not have a ton of energy, but he has enough to romp around with other dogs for a few minutes each day. Obviously, he isn’t a fan of playing chase, but he will partake in a friendly game of wrestle. It’s adorable watching this big guy gleefully romp around with other dogs in his slow-motion version of getting the zoomies. He is gentle when playing and doesn’t get too rough since his low energy level doesn’t allow him to get carried away with play! This guy is such a friendly and easygoing guy that he even does well around cats! He is so unbothered by cats that he barely even acknowledges that they exist. This guy definitely moves at his own pace and knows when he wants or doesn’t want to do something. Yes, the stubbornness can be strong with him! Although he is a very good boy with great manners, prepare to be ignored from time to time. He is never in a rush to go anywhere and you will always be on his time. Since he is slow going, he will make the perfect companion for someone living a slow-paced life with a ‘go with the flow’ attitude! Oso didn’t have a good start in life and spent his entire four years as an outside dog. He was surrendered to animal control in horrible condition which suggests he had been neglected for quite some time. He was underweight, suffering from mange, and had hair loss and sores on more than half of his body. Thankfully, an amazing foster loved and nurtured him back to the healthy, handsome, and thriving boy he is today! Oso is a 4 years 3 months old Saint Bernard and Great Pyrenees mix who weighs 108 pounds. He is neutered, microchipped, heartworm-negative, and up to date on all vaccines including monthly heartworm prevention! * 4 Little Paws is based in CT. We adopt in many different states along the East Coast. Transport costs are included in the adoption fee. If you are located outside the states we typically adopt to, we have options to get the dog of your dreams to your location.
