Story
Red Fern Friends, we desperately need your help This Senior girl is Miss Carmen She arrived in Colorado so long ago looking for her chance at redemption; for a loving human to help build her confidence and to know that she is safe and no one will hurt her.  Carmen has spent the majority of her life in BOARDING instead of a home 5 to 6 years with at least 2 years homeless. It breaks our hearts that we are STILL looking for this sweet senior her human. She had a foster to adopt for a few months recently that due to no fault of Carmen’s returned her due to unexpected life changes and not being capable to care for her.  Talk about heart shattering to try to explain to this sweet girl that our high hopes of her forever spot were no more after waiting so long.  Carmen NEEDS a Dedicated Foster to ADOPT. She will do best in a calm home environment with structure and love. No other dogs, cats, or children. She is fully vetted and current on all shots. All supplies can be provided to get going with fostering to ADOPT this sweet soul.  Please, help us with our underdogs that have been overlooked. There are no bad dogs, but there are to many that have been let down by humans and that is our Carmen. Boarding is anywhere from $35.00 a day and upwards from there. Boarding is not meant to be a permanent solution because the dogs do not thrive rather, they regress in heartbreak.  She needs her missing puzzle piece and I just know they are out there looking for her too.  Redfernanimalrescue.org/adopt #Fortheloveofcarmen#Seniordogsrule ##1853279##

Story
Sweet, affectionate, and playful Mocha needs a family! She was rescued 2 years ago from a kill shelter after being dumped in a rural area and has been in my care! Mocha is about 4-5 years old, super friendly, and a love bug! She is great with humans, and she is good with other dogs. She does have a high prey drive and would need an experienced confident owner to handle her. She is very social and would do good with a family, or active owner. She loves to run around and play, but she is also very, very content just hanging out, cuddling, or lying in the sun. She’s good on walks, at the dog park, playing in the creek, or on road trips. She acts like a puppy! If you're looking for a beautiful, loving American Staffordshire, she could be your girl!  Contact defrancia.c@gmail.com 720.272.0776     This dog is a courtesy listing and not one of our dogs. Please contact the email listed in this post. May 3, 2024, 7:10 pm

Story
Foster update: Andi is doing really well in her foster home. She is housebroken to use a doggie door. Her demeanor is calm and she is a puppy who loves to play. Andi also responds to simple commands such as “Sit”, “Down”, “No”. After time outside Andi is a bit of a couch potato.  This baby girl is a real sweetheart! Andi is affectionate and playful, loves to cuddle and gaze into your eyes. She was rescued from an overcrowed shelter and seems to have spent a lot of time in a kennel. She has come a long way towards learning to play outdoors and share a home with people. At first Andi behaves a bit shy but she quickly warms up to a friendly voice and soon rolls over for a belly rub. She’s making progress in house training, walking on a leash and learning commands like “sit”. Given that she hasn’t been exposed to children or cats in the foster home, it would be beneficial to gradually introduce them to her. Andi is an adorable puppy with a lot of potential. Her gentle and calm nature with other dogs and people makes her a great companion. This pup was rescued from a crowded shelter in New Mexico.   We have no additional back story or update for this dog at this time.  When we do, it will be updated here.  This is all the information we have currently. Approved Applicants may make the adoption fee payment by clicking donate above.  Partial adoption fees will not hold a dog. Dogs adopted with our rescue come with FREE training from #GoodPup to help you build strong bonds from the start! If upon meeting the dog of your choosing at your scheduled pickup time you find that you aren't a good match, your deposit will be fully refunded. Adoption fees include vaccines up until time of adoption, microchip, spay/neuter and 1st 30 days of free Pet insurance.  We are not affiliated with Pet First pet insurance. (you have to sign up for the insurance or it will not go into effect).  Adoption fees help cover the medical care of the animals while he or she waits for a new home, as well as food and transportation costs. These fees help to provide care for the other animals in the shelter or rescue group who may have medical bills that are much higher than any possible adoption fee. The money also acts as a donation to help support the organization as a whole, allowing the group to continue its efforts to rescue and rehome pets. The dogs in our care are fostered in Colorado, Texas, and New Mexico.  While all dogs are picked up during our scheduled times, sometimes transport dates change due to unforeseen circumstances.   More questions?  Read our FAQs here: https://4p4l.org/faqs/  Breed labels are a "best guess" by a shelter veterinarian and cannot be guaranteed.  A new study has concluded that (in layman's terms), breed assumption is NOT indicative of behavior in mixed breed dogs.  Therefore, if a dog looks presumably to be a German Shepherd breed, one cannot assume the dog will have a high prey drive.  From the study: "Although many physical traits were associated with breeds, behavior was much more variable among individual dogs. In general, physical trait heritability was a greater predictor of breed but was not necessarily a predictor of breed ancestry in mutts. Among behavioral traits, biddability—how well dogs respond to human direction—was the most heritable by breed but varied significantly among individual dogs. Thus, dog breed is generally a poor predictor of individual behavior and should not be used to inform decisions relating to selection of a pet dog" - https://www.science.org/doi/10.1126/science.abk0639 ##1994867##

Story
From Foster: Hi! I'm Awesome Blossom! I love people, dogs, cats, and chickens. I really love to be in your lap and snuggled next to you and I will rearrange myself when I need more surface area touching you.  I sleep in a crate all night. Once asleep, I don't whine but I do snore.  I don't have any accidents in the crate nor in the house.  I know "outside" and "sit." The house is open feed and I gladly share the water and food bowls with the other dogs in the house and I graze as needed.  I like toys but I really love playing with the other dogs. I am very athletic as I can onto the foster parents' bed that is 43" high. I will seek your lap out so I can nap.  If you need a snuggle buddy, I'm your girl!!  Blossom was rescued from a high kill shelter in Texas. She is a survivor! Blossom survived Parvo virus and has made a full recovery.  Meet and greets are by appointment only.  An approved application is required to schedule a meeting.
