Story
Meet our short and wiggly girl named Flora! Flora is about 6 years old, and she came to our shelter after she was found wandering in the street alone. It appears that she is another dumped mama dog, left out to fend for herself after her owner was done using her for breeding. Flora is a very friendly and affectionate girl! She loves people and loves to get attention! Flora likes to bounce around outside chasing tennis balls. She does usually get the zoomies when she first comes outside, but she calms down quickly and has a mellow personality. Flora would love to cuddle up on the couch with her new family. She is a gentle girl who takes treats nicely. Flora deserves a home to show her what being loved really feels like! After being here for some time, Flora has shown that she isn't the most comfortable around other dogs. We would like to find a home for Flora where she can be your one and only princess pup! She is not a fan of cats. Flora can go to a home with children 8 years old and older who have experience with dogs. If you are interested in adopting Flora, Please Email us at Adopt@savingpawsct.org for an application! FLORA'S ADOPTION FEE HAS BEEN SPONSORED BY A KIND DONOR! SHE WILL BE ADOPTED OUT FOR FREE TO AN APPROVED ADOPTER. MAC IS OPEN 7 DAYS A WEEK (M-F 8-4pm) (Sat-Sun 10-4pm) Applications must be submitted and approved BEFORE a meet and greet can be scheduled to meet an animal. Appts to meet dogs can made to suit your schedule, please email/call for an appt. We do prefer to be contacted by email for adoption inquiries at Adopt@savingpawsct.org. The office phone number is 203-235-4179. Leave a message, and someone will call you back promptly. PLEASE CHECK YOUR EMAIL SPAM FOLDER! You must be 21 years of age to adopt with valid ID. There is a short application for adoption, however if you do not own your home, or you own a condo, we must speak with your landlord or housing association giving permission to dogs/cats. Bully breed specific permission is required if you rent or own a condo. If you own your home, proof of home ownership is required. If there are other pets in the home they must be licensed (if a dog) and up to date on vaccinations. If there is another dog in the home a dog interaction must be done at the shelter before adoption, to ensure the safety and well being of all pets. All children in the home need to be declared and brought down to meet the animal. Applications must be submitted and approved BEFORE a meet and greet can be scheduled to meet an animal. An approved application does not guarantee an adoption. We do not hold animals for meet and greet appointments. ALL ANIMALS ARE SPAYED AND NEUTERED BEFORE THEY GO HOME. For more info please call 203-235-4179 (Always Leave A Message) or email adopt@savingpawsct.org

Story
Baron was found nearly decapitated, with a very deep laceration around the entirety of his neck and throat, the deepest area around his throat. The photos of his injury are simply too graphic to share. The emergency vet believes that he was only alive due to the maggots that were keeping the infection from getting worse. He was emaciated and obviously not cared for. We don't know what happed to his neck but criminal charges were filed against his owner. Upon picking up and heading to the emergency vet, he was nothing but sweet. His tail wagging and just wanting to be close and be petted. There were no words, only tears. He spent weeks in emergency care with his neck being cleaned multiple times a day, on IV pain meds and antibiotics before the wound could finally be closed. Everyone on the emergency staff adored him and couldn't say enough about how amazing he was. When he was finally able to leave there was a goodbye party for him, he made quite an impression on everyone. Baron loves hard and plays hard...and does it all with an adorable underbite! He absolutely loves to cuddle up with his people and then play hard with his canine companions. Baron would do best with another welcoming dog in his new home, but has not been tested with cats. Baron is neutered, microchipped, and up to date on all vaccines. Baron is fostered in GA and will be attending our Adoption Event. Save time, fill out an Application to be preapproved to adopt at our event. Preapproved adopters may schedule appointments to meet dogs on Friday, May 17th. Our pets are in CT, GA and PA foster homes. Dogs in PA may be able to come to CT prior to the event to meet adopters. Dogs in GA will arrive right before the event so you must come to the event to meet them. Fill out an online application to start the adoption process. COURTESY POST - Comet is approximately 5 years old. He is up to date with all of his vaccinations and has been neutered. He also has had double ACL surgery. He is allergic to bee stings but insists on trying to catch them regardless. Comet is an anxious and fearful dog. He is great with humans, not sure about children. He does not get along with most dogs and no cats. Comet would have to be placed in an only dog home. He has great house manners and is crate trained. Comet loves to play but not a fan of swimming but will enter the water when playing fetch at the beach.
