Athena was adopted from a local rescue when her mother came into the rescue pregnant...with 11 siblings! I met her at an acquaintances' home who was fostering her as a 3 mos old puppy & fell in love. I took her home w/in a couple of weeks to be company for my older lab when I'm away from home as he has anxiety. Unfortunately, they haven't bonded so I have to keep them separate. Even more unfortunate, & very unexpected, is that after 23 yrs I & my division colleagues lost our federal jobs this summer & I’ve not found another position to date. With support coming to an end w/in the 1st 1/4 of 2026, & I'm not sure how I will pay my mortgage much less buy dog food or pay for vaccinations, it’s best for Athena’s youth & sweet nature for another secure home to give her a family she deserves. She’s very sweet, could benefit from some training, & would make a wonderful family addition!

Traver is a 3-4 year old pit bull terrier mix. He’s a smaller guy, only about 35lbs. His large ears will catch your attention but his sweet personality is what will steal your heart. He was found as a neglected stray a month ago and despite trying to locate an owner, no one came forward or was found. With a little TLC, Traver’s beautiful personality began to shine through. He is very affectionate. Loves giving kisses and laying with you any chance he can get. He likes car rides, walks, running around in the yard, and playing with his toys. He can get a bit overstimulated by new people and environments which causes him to nibble a bit, so I dont recommend a home with small kids at this time but it’s a habit that can be fixed with some patience and has already improved a bit since we’ve been caring for him. I believe Traver would do best in a home by himself or one with dog(s) that can match his playful energy. Please consider giving him a loving home

Leo was brought into my home from BARCs without much backstory, found on the street with no owner to collect him. Leo is now 2 years old, and he's looking for a perfect companion to keep him company every moment of the day. A lot of physical activity and stimulation is required for him. Leo loves running inside the forest, chasing squirrels, and discovering new smells. He has an injury to his back that prevents putting much pressure on his right leg. Surgery is possible, but I never got the funds to get it done. Leo wants nothing but snacks and playtime. Give him more than he asks, and he will always be happy.

Story

Gemma is a great dog for a family with older kids and no other pets. She love attention, walks, and doing tricks. She is smart as any dog I’ve ever met, but can be very reactive. She is trainable but would need constant upkeep and work with regular exposure to other dogs in safe ways to train the skills. Someone experienced with dog training and reactive dogs would be best. She loves a car ride and hikes. Just take a muzzle and either keep it on or be ready to strap up if other dogs come on the trail.
