Story
Brisket is a tender hearted boy who may be a bit shy at first. Underneath his timid demeanor, however, is a gentle fella ready to warm up in a patient and loving home. He walks nicely on a leash, greets new people with tail wags, and takes treats with the utmost gentleness.
Brisket is incredibly tolerant of handling and even leans in for comfort once he feels safe. He’s also trying his best to stay housetrained, making him a great candidate for a structured home.
If you’re looking for a mild-mannered companion who just needs a little extra reassurance, Brisket would love to be your loyal, loving best friend.
Eligible for rescue, foster, and adoption. Meet Brisket at ACCT Philly any day of the week from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., or email foster@acctphilly.org to express interest in fostering.
Behavior notes
02/06/2025 staff notes: Brisket got out for some one on one time today! He was curled up on his bed in kennel when I approached, but came forward with soft eyes and low wags. He was easy to leash and walked nicely on leash. He said hi to two staff members along the way, and greeted them with low wags and submissive body language. In the room he went potty right away, showing us he's trying to stay housetrained. He was a bit exit focused today, and jumped and clawed at the door a few times. Brisket took treats gently and wasn't picky about which ones he wanted. He was more nervous today, and hid himself in a corner, facing away from everyone in the room. He remained tolerant, and could be coaxed out of his corner with yummy treats. He gave me no issues returning to kennel and was a pleasure to have out!

KENNEL PRESENTATION:
Brisket was standing at the door of his kennel with a tucked tail, neutral eyes. When the handler showed him the leash he softened up a bit and did some tucked wags. He allowed for easy leashing and exited without any problems.
LEASH SKILLS:

HANDLING :
In the room Brisket was a timid, but sweet boy. He stayed close to us and was very calm and mild mannered. He allowed all handling and was very gentle, leaning against us and sitting upright by us. He did not have any handling sensitivities and was tolerant to all petting including his face, paws, belly, and sides. When a new handler entered he approached her with calm body language as well. Took treats very gently when offered and showed knowledge of sit.
