Story
Ozzy (1.5 years old) If ever there were a dog who defines the word “miracle,” it’s Ozzy.At just a year and a half old, this tiny poodle mix has already survived more than most dogs ever will. He beat Parvo, one of the deadliest puppy viruses, and then survived being run over by a car—a tragedy that left both of his back legs badly injured and degloved. Thanks to the incredible team at ACCESS Specialty Animal Hospital, one of Ozzy’s legs was saved entirely, and surgeons were able to preserve most of his other leg through a complex skin graft procedure. He’s been in and out of the hospital for months, bravely enduring weekly bandage changes and long days of recovery with his trademark tail wagging through it all. Now, this little fighter is getting ready for the next chapter of his journey—his custom prosthetic that will help him run, play, and live the full puppy life he deserves. Ozzy’s heart is as big as his story. He’s gentle, endlessly affectionate, and happiest when he’s pressed up against you, reminding everyone he meets that love really does heal all wounds. He gets along beautifully with other dogs, but we think he’ll shine brightest as the only pet in the home—soaking up all the love he’s fought so hard to deserve. Story
Meet Sprocket, a 4-year-old Poodle mix with a big personality and a heart full of potential. Sprocket has had a rough start and comes with a history of reactivity and biting. He’s a scared dog who needs a firm, experienced owner to help him feel secure and establish boundaries. Sprocket has had training sessions and responds well to clear, consistent leadership. Once he knows you’re in charge, he’s much more relaxed and doesn’t push back. However, he does react to new people and should wear a muzzle during initial introductions for safety. Despite his challenges, Sprocket has no health issues and thrives on affection from his trusted person. He enjoys being cuddled and will show his sweet side once he’s built trust. If you’re an experienced dog owner ready to provide a structured, loving environment, Sprocket could be a rewarding companion. He’s looking for someone who can help him overcome his fears and show him the love and stability he deserves.

Story
Bam Bam, from our Flintstone Litter, was rescued alongside his siblings after being found dumped outside a shelter in a cardboard box. Thankfully, every one of these pups is now safe and ready to hunt for their forever homes. Bam Bam is a 6-week-old confident little explorer. He is playful, curious, and smart, with a big personality packed into a tiny body. He loves his toys, picks things up quickly, and stays focused on whatever fun task is in front of him. Once he gets his energy out, he turns into the sweetest snuggle buddy around. He would do well in a home with or without another dog and would thrive with a family who enjoys playtime just as much as cuddle time. Bam Bam brings a great balance of confidence and affection. We do not know his exact breed yet and have a DNA test in the works. Based on his size and features, we expect him to grow into a medium sized dog, around 30 to 50 pounds. Our best guess is a Labrador Retriever and Spaniel mix. If you are looking for a playful, loving pup who is equal parts fun and cuddly, Bam Bam might be your perfect match. If you are interested in adopting, head to hitlivingfoundation.org/adopt to apply. Est DOB: 11/1/25 Adoption Fee: $800

Story
LEXI is a beautiful well-behaved purebred Standard Poodle who comes from a very loving home, but whose human mom has passed away. Lexi is lonely and probably sad too, so she needs a new family to love, and to give her new love and happiness too. Lexi is very sweet, and sometimes cries when left alone so we are hoping for a family where there is someone usually home so she doesn't feel lonely. Lexi is housetrained, spayed, and has had all her shots. Lexi would do best as an only dog or with another Standard Poodle or perhaps larger dog. To learn more about Lexi, please contact us at: theanimalsleftbehind@socal.rr.com (Also our PayPal donation and sponsorship email)

Nicknamed “Curious George” by his foster, Gerrard is endlessly curious and loves exploring everything — both outside and around the house. His tail is always wagging, and his joyful spirit is contagious. Gerrard adores snuggling, happily takes himself on strolls around the yard, and makes friends wherever he goes. He’s especially fond of food, so the kitchen is hands-down his favorite room! Sweet, social, and full of life, Gerrard proves that age is just a number. If you’re looking for a happy, affectionate companion who loves to explore and cuddle in equal measure, Gerrard is your guy.

Story
Meet Brownie – A Survivor Ready to Feel Love for the First Time Brownie has lived a life no dog should ever have to endure. Returned to the same shelter four separate times, always with many of the same injuries, he’s known more heartbreak and neglect than comfort and care. But thanks to our incredible community, Brownie’s story is finally turning a corner. We took Brownie in to give him the second chance he’s long deserved. After a full check-up, X-rays, and bloodwork, the truth of his past came to light: A bladder stone causing him daily discomfort An old pelvic fracture likely from as far back as 2021 Severe dental disease from years of neglect His body tells the story of pain. And his eyes tell the story of a dog who’s still learning what it means to be loved. But here's the beauty of Brownie: he’s still trying. He wants to trust. He wants to believe. And with time, patience, and kindness, he’s starting to open up—one gentle wag, one quiet nuzzle at a time. And the best part? Brownie is an absolute sweetheart. He’s gentle, affectionate, and just wants to feel safe. He gets along well with cats, children, and other dogs, though he may need a little time to warm up to high-energy male dogs. Once he’s comfortable, he enjoys their company too! Brownie is: Soft, sensitive, and slowly learning to feel safe Great with cats, kids, and most dogs Receiving the medical care he’s always needed Calm, quiet, and a perfect companion for a peaceful home Looking for a patient, loving family who will never give up on him Brownie also recently underwent Liver Shunt surgery and does require to be a prescription diet the rest of his life and have his liver enzymes rechecked often to make sure he liver is healthy! **Brownie would do best in a home with another dog that is confident and will help Brownie to transition into new surroundings. Brownie does have significant separation anxiety and this is something we are working on with our trainer/behaviorist. ** Brownie doesn’t need perfection—just someone who sees him, believes in him, and will walk alongside him as he heals, inside and out. Be the chapter in Brownie’s life where everything changes. Apply to adopt today.

Meet Madeline — a sweet, 12-year-old poodle mix! Rescued from the streets after a Good Samaritan saved her from traffic, Madeline received a dental, spay, and mammary mass removal at CARES and is now thriving in foster care. Smart, affectionate, and a little goofy, Madeline is a loyal, snuggly companion looking for a forever lap to call her own.
