Story
#A5707694 Meet Wally , a 4-year-old Standard Poodle mix with long legs, and resembles a small version of the Irish Wolfhound. A wavy shadow-grey coat, and the regal air of a wolfish prince. He’s definitely shy and overwhelmed in the shelter, and his barky kennel manners don’t reflect the gentle soul beneath. Take him outside, give him a little time, and you'll see him begin to soften and shine. Wally needs a kind, patient adopter or foster who can help him feel safe and seen, however long that takes. With steady love and trust, this sensitive boy will bloom - and when he does, you'll have a loyal, loving companion for life. Come meet Wally and see the beauty behind the bark.     -4 year old black and grey Standard Poodle mix -60 pound male - Wally hasn’t been neutered yet because he picked up a little doggy cold at the shelter and needs to get better first; he can be adopted on a health waiver and neutered later, which the shelter may be able to help with -may also need the standard round of shots and preventatives before he can go home with you, but the shelter can likely help with these as well! -came to the Baldwin Park Animal Care Center on 6/19/25 as a stray -long, lithe, leggy shadow grey pup, with a wavy, shaggy coat - very distinguished and regal, with a unique wolfish look -very shy and very scared in the shelter environment - don't let his presentation in the kennel put you off! Wally may bark and not show his best side in his cage, but once you take him out and get to know him, he calms down and warms up beautifully -needs a kind and gentle adopter or foster willing to go slow, be patient, and take the time to build his trust -Wally may need a little extra finesse and some upfront investment, but you'll be richly rewarded with watching him blossom into his best self firsthand, and he'll give you all his love and loyalty in return   https://youtube.com/shorts/tRV42CZ0h5A For more information, contact volunteer Karen at karenklink94@hotmail.com ------- United Hope for Animals (UHA) is a volunteer group and does not have a facility for animals.  This pet is part of our Shelter Support Program at the Baldwin Park Shelter. Story
Meet Sprocket, a 4-year-old Poodle mix with a big personality and a heart full of potential. Sprocket has had a rough start and comes with a history of reactivity and biting. He’s a scared dog who needs a firm, experienced owner to help him feel secure and establish boundaries. Sprocket has had training sessions and responds well to clear, consistent leadership. Once he knows you’re in charge, he’s much more relaxed and doesn’t push back. However, he does react to new people and should wear a muzzle during initial introductions for safety. Despite his challenges, Sprocket has no health issues and thrives on affection from his trusted person. He enjoys being cuddled and will show his sweet side once he’s built trust. If you’re an experienced dog owner ready to provide a structured, loving environment, Sprocket could be a rewarding companion. He’s looking for someone who can help him overcome his fears and show him the love and stability he deserves.

Story
Meet Freddie our sweet one year old poodle mix. He weighs 15 pounds full grown. He is neutered, microchipped and up to date on all his vaccines. The vet sent him home with a clean bill of health and is now ready to find a home all his own. He is house trained and goes outside to do his business every couple hours when needed. Inside the home, he's pretty independent and keeps to himself unless you're calling him over for some love and attention. He's not the type to demand affection, but he absolutely soaks it up when it's offered. He is still getting the hang of walking on a leash and building confidence as his previous life as a breeder dog didn't include many outings, so everything is still a little unfamiliar to him but he's making steady progress. He enjoys spending quiet time out in the yard and will happily hang out on his own, especially if he's not quite ready to come inside. He's a bit of a hide and seek pro when he wants to be. Every day he gets a little braver, a little more curious, and a little more confident. He currently sleeps in his crate peacefully at night but I'm sure he would love his own bed next to yours if you prefer. He sleeps soundly through the night and settles in easily when you need to step out. What he needs now is someone with patients and a gentle heart, someone who understands that love and trust take time to grow. He'd thrive in a calm, nurturing home where he can continue building confidence at his own pace. His adoption fee is $1500 which covers all vet costs, care and training since the time he's been with us. Get in touch with us today and share details about yourself, the loving home you can provide, and your experience with the breed. Located in Hesperia CA. We offer transportation to you so long as it's covered by the adopter. We will be in contact with you shortly. Thank you!

Story
Meet Dwight, a 3-4 year old cocktail of poodle, doodle, and cocker spaniel (we think!). Dwight's foster mom says that he is the most lovable dog! He loves to snuggle and is always so happy to be around his person. Dwight gets along with dogs and cats, but he doesn't play with other dogs. Instead, Dwight loves to play games such as tug-of-war with his rope toys. He enjoys going on long walks, which has been helpful because he arrived a bit overweight and could still lose a couple more pounds. A mellow fellow indoors, Dwight is happy curling up to watch a movie with his person, too. He is not much of a barker unless he is startled or hears unknown noises; otherwise, he is a very quiet dog. He is being fostered in an apartment, so we know he would do well with an adopter who lives in an apartment, condo, or house with a yard. He would be a great fit for someone who works remotely and can spend lots of time with him, hanging out and going on walks. Come meet Dwight!

Story
Thirteen-year-old Buster is a very energetic dog for his age. This 10-pound poodle loves walks and enjoys attention but at the same time likes to have his space. Buster is playful and does well with other dogs, but he doesn't like other dogs to play rough with him. Buster prefers being inside the house with his family; he goes outside to go on walks or to do his business in the yard. Buster doesn't really bark much unless he is startled or if other dogs are rough playing with him, but he also occasionally barks when he is being playful himself. Buster sleeps quietly through the night inside a crate. Buster has mature cataracts, so his vision is significantly impaired. He sees shadows during the day and can maneuver throughout his foster home without bumping into anything, but at night, he does bump into things. Because of his disability, Buster will require patience while he adjusts to a new home and learns to trust his new person.
