Story
Polo is the standard Poodle that you have been looking for!   This boy is roughly 5-7 years old and weighs 50 pounds with a little that he could gain to fill out better.   Recently his owner passed away and he was on the way to being dropped off at the local county shelter when a kind woman stepped up and took him home.  Soon Critter Cavalry Rescue was called about Polo and asked to help him find a foster and a new home.  This dog is the best and most chill dog on the planet. He is ALL ABOUT PEOPLE!   He is not a dog that is looking to join a family and be a playmate to another dog.  While he might play some….he just wants to be your shadow and your love.  He is housebroken, totally healthy, happy with a ready smile for everyone and good with all creatures he meets.  Polo needs to transition soon to a new family before he gets attached to the foster.   His heart and soul needs to be settled and reassured he will be loved and not bounced anymore. Critter Cavalry Rescue can help you adopt this boy right now with all the right credentials and good home that you can provide.  Please contact us at ccrtennessee@gmail.com   We transport to the northeast . PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comApril 28, 2024, 4:57 pm

Story
My name is Winnie and I am not sure of my age.  I am not a puppy or a senior dog.  I was taken to a local shelter after someone saw a car in front of them toss me out the window.  It was late at night but the good samaritian got out to get me off the side the road.  Then contacted the shelter.  When I was thrown out the window,  I had long matted hair.  I was a bit skinny as well.  So everyone realized that I was not well cared for.  The shelter waited for my previous family to come forward to reclaim me.  But lucky for me they did not. I was put out to rescues due to me being afraid.  I growled and tried to bite because I was extremely confused and scared.  The shelter can be a noisy place which did not help me relax either.  Once in rescue it was quieter and I was allowed to relax.  I was given time to become more comfortable.  So I am slowly coming out of my shell. I walk great on a leash and have more confidence on the leash than off.  I am allowing humans to pet me although I am still a bit timid.  Currently I am not spayed.  I have a mammary tumor that the vet thinks was infected.  So I am on antibiotics.  Once that is clear, I will have the tumor removed and will be spayed at the same time.  The foster home has noticed that I am a bit reactive around my left leg but when I go back to the vet that will be looked at. I am looking for a quiet home where I will be given time to learn to trust again.  I am not looking for an active home and preferably one with older children if there are kids.  I am learning to relax while I am held.  Being held is nice but I will not be asking to be held all the time.  I have been able to explore the fenced in yard at the foster home without someone walking me on the leash but I am not playing or running.  Smelling and walking are my speed.  Then I come to the closest human and sit by them to watch the world pass.  I am fine with small dogs as long as they are nice to me. I hope someone who will help me learn to trust again will find room in their heart and home for me. Story
We brought Finley into our home in May of 2023 after living with a foster family as a rescue from a very poor home situation. We could tell he had, and still does to an extent, a lot of anxiety - he does not like to be away from us for long, but we have loved and nurtured him through some rough patches into what is a very vibrant and energetic dog today. We believe he is about 1.5 - 2 years old, and is a mix between Poodle (75%), Australian Shepherd (12.5%) and Retriever (12.5%). He currently weighs ±75 lbs., and gets along rather well with our other dog, a 2-year old female Doodle. We feel a home that can offer a large, fenced yard with room to run, older kids who can take him on long walks and play fetch (his favorite - that and keep away), would be the best environment for him. Unfortunately we lack the time and availability to give him the attention he deserves, and while not an easy decision, we have his best interest at heart. Thank you for considering Finley The Bells

Story
Onya is a petite, gentle, 3 year old Standard Poodle. Onya would be best suited in a home with someone home most of the day. This beautiful, phantom marked girl lived the last 2 years outside. Although she lived a great life with other dogs and a huge property she came to PAR after her owner passed away.  Onya has done very well meeting other dogs and seems to have little interest in the cat she occasionally sees at her foster home. Onya shouldn't live with free range chickens or goats.  Moving inside has been a huge adjustment for this girl. She's working on house training. Her foster is working to get her into a schedule of feeding, which will help with a routine for house training as well. She's done beautifully walking on a leash. She does not like her person to be out of her sight. She'll try to escape the fenced area and she panics in the house, therefore she is to be crated when no one is in the home. Onya does not like being in a crate, because that means she's alone, and this anxious girl stresses when alone. She's been gentle meeting new people and even young children. When she's not seeking attention, she'll lie down and is very calm.  Her new home needs to be patient and understanding. Onya is being exposed to a lot of new things and needs at least 2-4 weeks to adjust.  She hasn't shown interest in toys yet, and doesn't seem food motivated, unless it's food that's not for her! All food must be kept up off the counters and tables if you are not right there. Personality wise, Onya is a dream! With care and patience this girl will make such a great addition to a loving home! Applications can be filled out at www.piedmontanimalrescue.com/adopt!  Petfinder and Adopt-A-Pet does NOT send us Applications.   We receive many applications and many never respond after processing GREATLY delaying the pets forever home.  Please only apply if you are serious about adopting.  Please also make sure your pets are up to date on you species applicable Vaccines (rabies, Distemper/Parvo, FVRCP, Bordetella), spayed/neutered, and on Heartworm prevention if a canine.   The adoption fee includes their age appropriate vaccinations(DA2PP and Bordetella), Dewormer, spay/neuter, microchip, heartworm test as well as the registration of their microchip information to you. The first step to adopting is to fill out an application for adoption. Once approved we will arrange a time for you to meet the animal you are interested in. If it is a match the adoption can then be completed and you can take home your new furry family member. If it is not a match we will file your approved application and you can wait till you find the perfect match. ##2010556##

Story
Thank you for your interest in dog who needs a new home.  Adoption can be one of the most fulfilling experiences in your life and especially in the life of your new canine companion. A note to those looking at CPR.  We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone.  Our job is to find those someone's.  Our most successful adopters come to CPR not because they want a dog.  They come to us because they want to give a dog a home.  We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture.  While we like to know what you like in looks, a dog is more than a pretty face.  Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home.  We want to create furever families.  Our descriptions contain all that we know about this dog today.  We'll update as more information is known.  Are you looking to adopt within the next 30 days?  If so please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and complete the application.  You'll find it in the menu on the left hand side.  You'll also find a total listing of all our dogs available.  Just browsing but interested in poodles and poodle mixes?  Please drop a note to applications@carolinapoodlerescue.org with your name, address and phone # and email.  We'll add you to our mailing list. thanks the CPR Adoption team   Date into Rescue: 2/1/2022 Reason for being in rescue: Lovingly surrendered by owners Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? Posh is neutered, up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative. On 02/09/22 Posh had entropion repair on his lower eyelid. He also had a dental polishing and a deep ear cleaning. Posh can be prone to ear infections. Keeping his ears clean is imperative.  Weight: 45 lbs Height: 24 in Spayed/Neutered: Yes Adoption Fee: $599 Fence needed? Yes What kind of home would be best for me? Posh is an active dog that has had a lot of change over the last 8 months. He needs stability and patience and continued socialization. Posh is an alpha male and needs an owner that will commit to positive reinforcement training and redirection of behaviors. Posh prefers women to men so an alpha female owner is his ideal home. Posh could live with other dogs (he always has) or be the only dog. Posh is not good with children and will not be placed in a home with children. He requires SLOW introductions to new people. What is my personality like? Posh and his brother Hans were the beloved companions of a single professional. Sadly, significant health challenges made caring for Posh impossible and he was surrendered to rescue to help him find the right forever home.  Posh's owner describes him as a a big, happy love bug - he thinks he is a toy poodle lap dog! He loves to give big hugs and kisses. Posh is not fond of the vet or of grooming but with lots of gentle persuasion it can be managed.  Here is what our caregivers say about this beautiful boy. Posh is a sweet boy that is looking for a mama. The reason I say “mama” is because posh takes direction from women very easily where as he is a little slower to warm up with men. He needs someone that can keep him in line. He is all boy! Posh does well with other dogs; he enjoys the company of dogs his size. Occasionally when he’s over stimulated you’ll have to correct him and let him know he’s being a little too much. Posh is not the best with strangers - you have to buy this boy's love with treats and patience. He does not appreciate being approached without permission and will let you now his displeasure. Posh slightly pulls on a leash and will need some leash training. He would excel at any type of positive reinforcement training as he is very intelligent. Posh loves belly rubs and does very good about keeping his crate clean. It is required posh have a crate in the home this will help his transition to a new environment as well as give him a place to retreat to when he’s feeling overwhelmed. How do I act when I first meet new people? A little timid, but incredibly treat motivated Other tips and tidbits: Posh is 3.5 years old. We celebrate his birthday as 2/1/2019. House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule. Please note - we do not ship dogs.  If you are interested in adopting, please take a look at the distance between the foster home location and your location and make sure you are willing to make that trip.  Most of our dogs are at our farm in Pacolet, South Carolina.   To apply, please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and visit the tab on the left that directions you to the online application. Please note that when screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home.   You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, color, age, etc.  Others here may be a better fit for you.  It is very difficult to get to know a living animal from a picture and a short description.  Since we are constantly getting in new dogs, this may be a  dog not in our listings yet.  We want you to be very happy with your new companion and will make suggestions based on what you tell us about you. Thank you for considering CPR. April 29, 2024, 11:07 am
