Story
Hi there! I’m Anny the precious little breeder release mini Schnauzer retired momma. So many things have changed since I was rescued from the awful and traumatic breeding life last fall. First and foremost, I am learning what it means to be a safe and adored family member - a life that I never dreamed was even possible. Next, I’m learning that not all humans are awful. I still don't like being picked up / it still scares me a lot. I now take treats from my foster mom and dad and quite like them. I'm very cautious, and it takes me a long time to warm up, but I do eventually, after a lot of time.  Loud noises still terrify me, so I am not a good fit for a home with small children or a lot of disorganized chaos. I am still very much in training on accepting a leash and walking, but I have come a long, long way, and actually quite like walking with my foster sister. In fact, I'm the greatest doggie sibling that ever was because I'm independent, playful, silly, sweet, and love every doggie I've met as long as they’re close in size to me. I am often found hanging out in my foster sister and brother’s bed or kennel, sometimes even with them still in there, too. I love to chew my bully sticks, greenies, and no hide chews. I also love to play with my toys. There are some special needs that I must have in my next loving home - 1. Another confident doggie sibling. I don't like being alone, and I need to follow a good fur leader. 2. A secure fenced yard is a must. I need to be kept safe at all costs because I am still in doggie training, and I don't like being leashed, and it takes me a good long while to trust that process. Until I do, I am a flight risk. 3. A really patient and caring dog mom or dad. I have been through a lot of unfair and icky experiences in my short life. I am not immediately cuddly, and I need a safe and cozy space of my own. I do like sleeping in the bed with my foster mom, dad, and siblings. The end of their bed is one of my most favorite places, along with my place in front of the fireplace and my fuzzy rug, bed, and crate. 4. Lots of training. Guess what? I'm a purebred terrier girl. That means I’m stubborn and have a big mind of my own. Training to listen, walk, sit, focus, and come to my human is an absolute necessity. If you're willing to accept me for my tiny quirks, let me tell you what / you will just love me. I'm such a sweet girl. I'm just a little mischievous clown. I have the most fantastic terrier head tilt! If you’re familiar with Mini Schnauzers, I am 1000% one with all the traits and personality.   Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, Alter, dental, Prepaid microchip, Dewormed, Rabies vaccine (if age appropriate), Distemper combo vaccine(s) appropriate to age, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX (over 6 months of age), Flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue. Adoption fee:  $550.00    Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.December 22, 2025, 8:55 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.  Gary is an 18&#226&#128&#145pound gentleman of distinguished age who has fully committed to the art of relaxation. He is, without question, the King of Sleeping. If napping were an Olympic sport, Gary would bring home the gold, the silver, and probably a commemorative snack. When he’s awake, he transforms into a slow&#226&#128&#145moving shadow who follows his human around with the dedication of a very mellow bodyguard. He loves short strolls outside where he can sniff the neighborhood news, feel the breeze, and pretend he’s still a spry young lad. Then he returns inside to resume his royal duties: couch snuggling, belly&#226&#128&#145rub requesting, and gentle snoring. Gary has a few special senior quirks—he’s partially blind, partially deaf, a little wobbly, and needs eye drops, medicated baths, and daily pain meds. Stairs are not his thing, but being carried like the tiny prince he is suits him just fine. He’s working on potty training and does well on a schedule, especially since he sleeps through the night like a champion. He’s friendly with everyone, polite with dogs, and happiest in a calm home where he can nap in peace and enjoy his favorite hobby: eating treats. All treats. Any treats. Every treat. Gary is a gentle, affectionate, easygoing old soul who just wants a soft place to land, a cozy lap to snooze on, and someone who appreciates the simple joys in life—like snacks, sunshine, and long, luxurious naps. Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders. Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Each dog receives basic grooming when coming into rescue, but for some dogs they have not received grooming attention until recently and grooming may be required shortly after adoption. This will be at the adopter’s expense, so we encourage you to research the breed and be prepared for grooming expenses. Underdog cannot guarantee hypoallergenic or non-shedding qualities of any dogs in our rescue. Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. In turn, they require another companion dog and/or a fenced in yard in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog whose bio states those needs and do not currently have them, please understand that your home might not be the right fit. Please use the filter on our Adoptable Dogs page to find the perfect match for your home.    ***Be sure to check your spam/junk folder as sometimes our emails end up there***Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.If you have other questions about me you can email Underdog Rescue at <inquiries@underdogrescuemn.com> ADOPTION EVENTS:      Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. If an event is not listed within their bio above, the animal is not planning to attend.  Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. We recommend filling out an application and we will set up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved. ADOPTION PROCEDURE: The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website: http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/adoptionprocess/   Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.  All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/contact-us/ if you have further questions. FOSTER CARE: All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption, but each bio is written by the foster as they see them, in their home. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality, but it cannot be guaranteed. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves in time and with patience.  If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website  www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications  and fill out a foster application. NUTRITION: Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets.  All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet.  All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal. YOU CAN HELP: Not able to foster or adopt right now? Please consider sponsoring an Underdog. Your donation will help us buy dog food and pay for medical costs. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Meet Captain — the adorable little chaos biscuit himself. Captain is a happy guy who definitely believes his voice is his superpower. If a leaf moves outside? He’ll let you know. A shadow walks by? He’ll let you know. Your own reflection in the window? Yep… he’ll let you know that too. He’s currently learning the house rules and, so far, the cats might as well be decorative pillows—he completely ignores them. This skinny little dude came in severely matted but was a total champ during his makeover. Now he’s rocking his “freshly baked” look. Captain is still a nervous nugget, especially around men, but he’s trying his best. Kids? He hasn’t met any yet, but with a gentle, respectful child, he’ll probably warm up. As for cuddling… he’s far too busy being excited, confused, and dramatic to sit still for snuggles. One day. Not today. He LOVES squeaky toys and will proudly squeak one for an unreasonable amount of time. Here is a great video of his classic “pick me up” dance—back legs up, front paws flailing on the fence like a tiny circus performer demanding attention. Captain is a small guy with a big personality who just needs time to settle in and realize the world isn’t out to get him. With patience and love, he’ll go from nervous baguette to confident loaf in no time. Captain is from a local impound. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Noel is a tiny, loving sweetheart with a big personality and an even bigger heart. She’s incredibly affectionate, gentle, and eager to please, and she truly thrives on being close to her people. Noel does great with children (including young kids), enjoys lap time, and loves being involved in whatever her humans are doing. She has a nice balance of playful energy followed by calm cuddle time, making her an easy companion in many types of homes. Noel is leash trained, crate trained, and does well in the car. She’s intelligent, attentive, and very people-focused. She can be a little attention-seeking at times, simply because she loves her humans so much, but she’s already learning boundaries and doing well with guidance. Despite her small size, she can be a bit bossy with other dogs—especially ones bigger than her—which just adds to her charm. Noel came from Galveston Animal Resource Center as a medical rescue. When she arrived, her hind right leg was severely damaged and disfigured. After veterinary consultations and supportive care, the leg was amputated, and Noel has adapted beautifully. Being a tripod does not slow her down at all—she’s happy, mobile, and living her best life. She may initially whine or bark briefly when placed in a kennel, but she settles quickly and is generally quiet in a normal home environment. Noel would do best in a home where someone is around often, as she truly loves companionship and attention. Noel is a special little girl who has overcome a lot and is ready to give her whole heart to a loving forever family! Noel is from Texas. They arrive in Minnesota on 01/24/2026 and will need to be picked up from the Ruff Start Rescue office in Princeton, MN between the hours of 8:30am and noon. Please plan for their arrival accordingly as we cannot accommodate pickups outside of this time frame.  Since they haven’t arrived yet, they are available exclusively through Ruff Start’s Foster to Adopt (FTA) Program.   Click here   to learn more about this program.   This pet is currently undergoing treatment for heartworm disease. Activity must be restricted for several weeks during recovery. RSR will cover the full cost of treatment. RSR will provide heartworm preventatives until the retest is due. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Hi! I’m Scrappy, a young likely schnauzer/westie mix puppy, and my foster mom says if happiness had four legs, a wagging tail, and perky ears… it would be me! I’m friendly with dogs of all sizes, enjoy adult humans (and since I’m still a pup, I’ll likely love humans of all ages), and while I might be a tiny bit unsure at first, I warm up in minutes. Once I do? Total lovebug. I’m affectionate & playful, even-tempered and eager to please , a proud lap pet , a toy enthusiast, and surprisingly quiet . My foster mom has cared for hundreds of dogs, and she says I’ve been one of the easiest she’s ever had. I just like being near my people and soaking up the good vibes. When I first arrived after spending 6 weeks crated at the vet, I needed a little decompression time. I growled a bit at first — not aggressive, just saying “please give me a moment.” After about 12 hours of being safely penned nearby, I relaxed… and within days I was totally comfortable, even at the groomer. With patience and kindness, I bloom quickly. The reason I was at the vet was because someone shot me with a BB gun. I still have some BBs in my leg to prove it, but the doc says they aren’t a problem and surgery might make things worse.  I also have a puppy habit of marking indoors, so I’ll need work on potty training. I wear a belly band inside, and with consistency and routine, this is very manageable. Also, I am being treated for heartworm - more details about that below. My Signature Moves: I do a happy little dance, pawing at the air (and at you!) when I’m excited, Belly rubs are my love language — I’ll roll right over if you look at me, After morning potty time, I sprint back inside, jump on the bed, and make sure Dad (still asleep) gives me attention, and I occasionally express my puppy side by carrying off a shoe or redecorating with a magazine. I’m a happy, happy dog looking for a home that understands I’m still learning, still growing, and ready to give a whole lot of love. If you’re looking for an easygoing pup with joy written all over him — I just might be your Scrappy. Scrappy is from Texas.
