Story
Do you dream of a kitty that comes to you asking to be picked up and held? A kitty that climbs you like a mountain goat for pets? A kitty that shows his love by wrapping his long, bushy tail around you? Bugsy could be your dream cat! A young lad at just over a year, Bugsy has the playful exuberance of a teenager. He loves to play and tussle with the other kitties in his foster home, and enjoys toys of all sorts. His favorite toy is a wand toy (without the feather) stuck in a cat tree. He bats at it from above and jumps to box at it from below. Sometimes, he even catches it! Bugsy loves other cats, so he will need another cat in his new home, and would love to bring his brother with him. He loves his people, too, and gets jealous when they are holding the other cats. He will weasel his way between them to make sure he gets his share of the love. He’s cautious about the unknown, so will need some time to settle in, and would do best with older kids. He doesn’t mind nice dogs. When summer gets here, he will need a safe place to go outside with his people and kitty friends for a family adventure out. Bugsy has a distinctive look in his long, gray, tabby coat, white socks and stockings, and black accents down his back and tail. Give him a little time, and he will give you never-ending love in return. Please call or text (907) 460-6620. In Soldotna.

Story
Willow! She's delightful. This little girl is really little, about 6-month-old kitten size even though she is almost 2 years old. She has an adorable kitten way about her. Often, it's the 'revved up and ready to play' pose (as in her picture). She's full of fun and can entertain her people or herself for hours, racing and leaping after toys like a kitten. After being the baby mom of a couple litters of kittens, she is just now getting the chance to experience carefree kittenhood herself. She loves her toys! It's so satisfying to see how much she appreciates those special little gifts. Being an experienced hunting girl, she is happy to keep up her skills until she can go outside again and race around after butterflies. Before coming into rescue, she was used to spending a lot of time outside so a nice spacious yard is a must for this girl. She promises to keep those pesky mice at bay and catch those annoying bugs! Willow loves her people. But she is not a needy clingy cat. She can be very independent and happily do her own thing. She likes to sleep with her people but she won't crowd you out. She just loves the closeness and companionship. Of people. NOT of other cats. Willow does need to be the only cat in the house. And she may do okay with a mellow dog, but she will not put up with any nonsense about the dog bossing her around.. This tiny very special little girl is ready for a loving family who will cherish and adore her! If you’re ready to open your heart, soul, and home to the most wonderful lady Willow is your girl! She is in Anchorage. Please text or call 907 980-8898

Story
Sometimes, all you need is a slightly deranged kitten to break up the winter blues and teach you how to be a kitten-at-heart. Benji came to rescue developmentally stalled. You see, since birth he lived in survival mode on the streets, hungry and lonely and didn’t get a chance to be a kitten. His foster mom tried to play with the wand toy with him and get him to come out from hiding to no avail. Enter FuBU, a 3-lb black kitten fearless and full of exuberant kitten energy. Play! Chase! Tackle! Snacks! Pets! Explore! FuBU was ready to do it all. On first introduction, FuBU ran up to Benji’s watermelon house. Benji hissed at him, “go away!” FuBU was undeterred and determined to win him over. He climbed on top of the watermelon house and collapsed it, quite literally breaking down the protective walls Benji had put up. Benji had no choice but to accept him and from then on, they’ve been inseparable and Benji got a 2nd chance to learn how to be a kitten! Benji continues to blossom with FuBU’s love and has learned to trust humans. Best of all, he’s learned how to play! The boys wrestle and chase each other around the house. They do amazing acrobatics with the cat wand. They both want to be close to their human and the dog. Benji will follow his human from room to room. He will slow blink you as you sit on the toilet. He will slow blink you from the doorway when you’re in bed. He will get up next to you on the couch and curl up and slow blink you as you read a book. He is a complete loverboy. Petting is still a new concept to Benji that is being slowing introduced following the Socialization Saves Lives program. Right now, he likes to play a gentle version of Pat-a- Cake. If you stick out your hand, Benji will put his paw (with no nail) on your hand and look at you with his big round green eyes, “is this how we play?” He is truly the gentlest of souls, always checking on the other rescue who is still in a kennel. He will sleep on top of her cage, sing to her, and rub up against her kennel. He will also check on FuBU and do brotherly tasks such as clean him when he’s got Churu on his head. Benji will soon be the ultimate companion cat. The cat that wants to always be with his humans and is giving all the signs he will be an absolute cuddle bug soon! He has beautiful markings; a white chest and matching socks with green eyes and is the most handsome of boys. He purrs when you feed him and his favorite activity is playing chase “da Bird” cat wand or “it’s raining treats!” which is when his foster mom throws up a handful of treats for him to pounce on. FuBU, on the other hand, is a little wild man. He is brazen and bold. Nothing scares him. Nothing deters him. He loves kids and dogs. He loves to snuggle and cuddle and chase, pounce, and play. His name comes from when his foster mama was asked if she wanted a “Friendly But Ugly” kitten. Of course she said yes! And he’s grown into his ears and looks while his personality remains big! Turns out, a slightly deranged kitten is exactly what both Benji and his foster mom needed to remind themselves that life is too short to not play and have fun! We are looking for a home for these boys to keep them together. They’ve proven they’ll do well in pretty much any situation as long as they have each other and are given time to adjust. They both love other kitties and are friendly with nice dogs and kids. Benji is around 10 months old and FuBU is about 3 1/2 months old. They are in Anchorage. Call 907 980-8898

Story
Jon is a little bit of an old soul, who struggles with change and requires slow introductions. But once you past the shy stage-- you`re left with a very sweet, playful boy who loves to talk! Jon lived with his original owner since he was a kitten, and as time went by, he ended up living in a home with four other cats and a dog! While he did get along with everyone, it took some time. Jon seemed to have struggled with so many other animals and had accidents outside of the litterbox. While we have not experienced that here at the Shelter, we recommend having an extra litterbox at home for Jon!
