Tabby kittens & cats in Cortland, New York

Kenzie is a 6 year old orange tabby with a huge personality and an even bigger heart. He was found as a kitten in a well on a farm, and I got him from a friend shortly after, and I have had him ever since. He is incredibly funny and very vocal, he will meow nonstop until breakfast is served. When I get home from work he is always at the door to greet me. While he was very playful when he was younger, now he spends most of his time sleeping or cuddling. He loves pets and neck scratches but can get overstimulated; he does not like belly rubs and can be sensitive about his tail. He loves catnip, especially the spray kind for toys. Unfortunately I must rehome him due to moving on campus for college. He needs a quiet home with no kids and no other animals; he can tolerate female cats but does not do well with male cats. He is bonded to my other cat, Luna (5 1/2 years old), who is very shy, and they must be adopted together. Every introvert needs their extrovert!

With her baby-doll face, you’d be mistaken to think Rue is a quiet little lady. Sure Rue is sweet, but she has a lot of spice as well. The first to engage in any kitten games, this lovely girl has a special outlook on life. Rue is ready to start the next phase of her life. She needs to be adopted with her BFF and brother, Jazz Man.

Luna is a very sweet indoor 4 year old girl who will guard the house and watch to make sure everything is in order. She loves to herd and sit on shoulders. She enjoys following with routines such as bed time and insists on being by your side for them. She is sometimes a talker with a very light meow. She is a good mouser and climber. Luna is gentle to kids. When she bonds with you she is okay to be picked up and held. She has never scratched or bitten myself or my daughter. She is playful and explorative. She is a healthy and energetic girl. I am having to relocate in July and trying to find my baby a safe home.

Smokey is a spunky 2 year old girl with a big personality. She loves attention, but can sometimes become frustrated if behind a closed door or barrier. She prefers to be able to see all of her surroundings and come to people for pets instead of the other way around. Smokey seems to prefer women over men, though she has been warming up to all kinds of people here at the shelter. Smokey may need some extra time to settle from over-stimulation when first acclimating to a new home, but has so much love to give the lucky person who forms a bond with her. PJ is an almost 3 year-old female cat who we are looking to rehome with her brother from the same litter, Benjamin. These are cats that are high energy and always looking to get into everything they can. I think they would thrive in an environment where they can be indoor/outdoor cats and where we live is not suitable for such. Please only inquire if you are interested in both PJ and Benjamin. We would really like them to go together.

Scar is a very quiet and reserved young two-year-old who came to us with his brother Simba as owner surrenders. While not as openly affectionate or outgoing as his brother, Scar is still quite friendly and appreciates plenty of one-on-one attention. He's not quite as playful as Simba, though that may change outside of the shelter setting. He likes to either be hiding away somewhere or otherwise as high up as he can get to survey his surroundings. He would do well with other cats, especially SImba, though it is not a requirement of his adoption. If you are interested in a lower energy, but still young and spry cat that will give you lots of love, Scar may be the perfect fit!
