The best relationships are built on trust, patience, love, and the quiet decision to keep showing up for one another. Crumb is looking for that kind of connection—the kind where someone understands that the greatest bonds are often the ones worth waiting for.
Crumb is a deeply sweet, gentle girl who’s learning that the world can be a safe and happy place. Naturally shy with new people and unfamiliar situations, she takes a little time to warm up. She’s also naturally submissive, preferring to avoid conflict and take her cues from those around her. But once she trusts you, you’ll discover a loving, sensitive companion with the sweetest heart.
One thing is certain: Crumb absolutely adores other dogs. They are her comfort, her confidence, and her favorite companions. She is wonderful with dogs of all sizes and truly thrives in their company. Having a friendly, confident canine buddy helps her feel secure enough to let her playful personality shine. Whether she’s playing, chewing on her favorite toys, or simply relaxing alongside her dog friends, Crumb is happiest when she’s part of the pack.
Every day, Crumb grows a little braver. She’s becoming more comfortable with visitors in her foster home, settling in more quickly and showing increasing curiosity instead of fear. She’s also making wonderful progress on leash walks, especially in quieter areas, and continues to surprise her foster family with just how much she’s blossoming. She’s the kind of dog who makes you celebrate every small victory—a tail wag, a curious sniff, choosing to come closer—because each one represents a huge step forward.
While Crumb is believed to be a coonhound mix, she’s actually smaller than your average coonhound, making her a wonderful medium-sized companion.
Crumb is looking for a calm, patient home that understands confidence and trust can’t be rushed. A friendly resident dog is essential, as she relies on canine companionship for reassurance and guidance. She would do best in a quieter environment rather than busy city living, with older, respectful children if there are kids in the home. A securely fenced yard would be a huge bonus, and while experience with shy or undersocialized dogs is helpful, what matters most is a family willing to offer kindness, consistency, and unconditional love.
Crumb may never be the dog who rushes up to greet every stranger, but for the person willing to earn her trust, the relationship you’ll build will be incredibly special. She reminds us that love doesn’t always happen instantly—sometimes the most beautiful bonds are built one patient moment at a time.
And the best part? Crumb is already trying. She wants to trust. She wants to love. She’s simply waiting for the person who will meet her where she is and help her discover just how wonderful life can be.
Her foster and our rescue will also happily provide guidance and support after adoption to help her continue thriving in her new home.
Crumb is fostered in Reading (Berks County), Pennsylvania and is ready to find her forever family.

Meet Me Program: Dogs featured in our Meet Me Program are participating simply because their foster or a dedicated volunteer is willing and able to take part—this is not based on breed, personality, behavior, or how long a dog has been waiting for a home. Because Mostly Muttz Rescue does not have a physical shelter location, this program allows adopters to connect directly with the people who know each dog best. It’s a great opportunity to ask questions, learn more about daily life with the dog, and even schedule an individual meet & greet at an approved location—either before applying or while your application is pending.
