Story
Do you love tacos? I'm the dog for you!! I am just over one year old and about 55 pounds. I am a hound mix with long legs and my foster humans say they don't understand why I haven't been adopted yet! I love all people of all sizes and I also love to "aaaWooo" at you when I am very excited. I love to sniff all of the things and adventure. I do well at doggy daycare, but would prefer to not share my home with another doggie. I am neutered and up to date on vaccines, as well as microchipped. I hope to meet you soon, my foster hooman says check out the adoption process below to play! ADOPTION PROCESS 1. Review our adoption contract and application. 2. Story
ABOUT LOUISE Louise is a super sweet 1 year old Treeing Walker Coonhound. She was originally found wandering as a stray in West Virginia with her friend, Thelma. Their local animal control did not have space for them, so HAP stepped in to save them from euthanasia. While Louise was found with Thelma, they are not a bonded pair, but can be adopted together. Louise would likely do well in a home with another dog to help build her confidence. We aren't sure of her past or what she may have endured, but she can be a bit reserved or nervous when first meeting people. Once she knows you're safe, she is sure to melt into your lap for love. Louise enjoys playtime, but is a huge fan of naptime! When she's not taking a snooze or playing with her friends, she is likely nose to the ground sniffing away on a walk! In true hound nature, she enjoys telling you what's on her mind and letting out some howls. If you are interested in adopting this dog, please submit an adoption questionnaire! Our adoption process is on a first-come, best-match basis and we are not able to hold animals. If you are interested in this specific dog but it ends up not being the best fit upon meeting, our adoption counselors will work with you to help find a match! All household members, including children and other dogs, must come along for the meeting to make sure it's a good fit. If a match is made, we encourage same-day adoptions! Our adoption fees include the animals' spay/neuter, microchip, age-appropriate vaccinations and preventatives, fecal testing, heartworm testing, and a small bag of food to get you started.

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. All of the animals posted on our site have been temperament tested. While not all are in the immediate area, once we have processed and approved your application, we will move the dog to our adoptive area for you to meet, greet and hopefully adopt. Sometimes we will have more than one application on a dog. That does not mean it automatically goes to another family but you should be aware of the fact that until you are approved and set up for the meet/greet.. the dog could get adopted by another applicant.NOTE- HARRY IS LISTED AS A COURTESY TO ANOTHER RESCUE ORGANIZATION.  PLEASE SEE CONTACT INFO BELOW.ASK NOT WHAT THIS HOUND CAN DO FOR YOU,BUT WHAT YOU CAN DO FOR THIS HOUND.Harry Neil is a 10 year old walker hound who recently came to us when he no longer wanted to hunt. Having lived life on a chain, Harry Neil is now enjoying romping in a fenced yard, interacting with other dogs in his foster home and soaking up all the attention. Harry is kind and quiet and surpisingly petite! The mass on his face is a damaged salivary gland. Nothing can be done for it but it does not hurt or bother him. Henry is looking for a compassionate family who understands that he missed out on a lot of things while pursing a career in hunting. He will need extra support with house training and basic manners. Henry Neil deserves a comfy home with a wonderful family to enjoy the rest of his life! He'll pay you in kindness and gratitude.(We do not recommend hunting hounds for homes with cats.)A reduced adoption fee of $100 does apply for Harry Neil, our seniors, special medical and behavioral needs dogs and other 'slow to adopt' dogs!Augusta Dog Adoptions is an all- volunteer, foster- based rescue. We take applications online and schedule adoptions in Waynesboro, VA. A $175.00 adoption fee ($300 for puppies under 6 months old) helps us take care of all the dogs we rescue. All dogs are spayed/neutered, tested for heartworm and tick borne diseases (if old enough), microchipped, and vaccinated for rabies (if old enough), distemper/parvo and bordetella. They are also treated for internal and external parasites. Many dogs also receive extensive medical care such as dental work and major surgeries. Her foster is very impressed with her and says; 'She is sooooo sweet! Only had 2 accidents in the house and nothing in the crate. She is like a magnet. Likes to be right by your side and is learning to play with toys. Doesn’t really pay mind to my dogs at all she wags her tail but doesn’t try to engage' She represents all that is wonderful about beagles. Because she is a hound, we will require a physical fencing for her to keep her and her nose from following any irrestible scents and to keep her safe. She is interested in everything and is going to make your walks more fun than you can imagine, as she points out all the great stuff along the way that you have been missing without her. A lovely temperament and a desire to keep herself clean are such good qualities. Bringing Honey into your life is a good choice if you like smiling, kisses, and a best friend who wants to be with you. She promises to listen to everything you say and not tell another soul!
