Ain’t Nothing But a Hound Dog!MEET CARTER! This loving and playful Hound Dog is estimated to be 2 years old and weighs approximately 75 pounds. Having come from a rural area where he was used to living outside, he has adjusted quickly and loves being in his warm and comfy hound-loving foster home!   This big baby is just that; a puppy in a big dog's body. He doesn’t always realize his size or strength, and for that reason alone he should go to home without small humans in it. (For context, his foster family had 20 people over for Thanksgiving and after just a couple minutes he was loving on everyone. He was good with the kids, but he doesn't know not to run over them when they are in his way. He just doesn't think like that.) He has done so well with his foster canine brother and sisters, and they love to play and cuddle up after. Carter does want to play roughly, but he listens to his foster sibling when she corrects him like a mother dog would do. Carter is a typical hound and loves being part of a pack, whether it's canine or human. He is submissive and just wants to play and be loved. He would do well in a house with other dogs as long as they want to play. He would also do just fine as an only dog. (We also believe that he would do well with a cat, having been around them in the past.) He truly just wants to be with his person. He is a healthy and strong young dog that’s still working on his manners. He likes to use his paw to get your attention, for anything. And with him being so strong, that paw can hurt. His foster mom thinks he'll get there, but he definitely has the hound stubborn streak. This dapper-chap is both potty and crate trained. He needs bones or harder toys to chew and he does not like loud noises outside, such as gun shots, thunder, etc. He wants to go inside the house right away. Being a hound, his nose is king and he can tell when another animal - or snack - is near.  To sum him up, he is a lovable, sweet, strong, stubborn hound puppy who would be perfectly content to let you love on him all day. Carter’s adoption donation fee is $450, which includes spay/neuter, routine vetting and a microchip. You can apply for him by filling out our online application, which is found on our website www.tarashouse.org.  Please email us at info@tarashouse.net with any questions.December 5, 2025, 10:15 pm

Story
*** Courtesy Post *** Geneva is a great lady who makes herself at home inside. She will settle into her couch and stay there curled up in a hound ball or stretched out like a snoozing pig for hours at a time. This sedentary side of Geneva's character belies her true passion, which is to be active outside in the company of her person. She generally does not like to be left alone outside (unless she has caught the scent of something); rather she bonds with her people through adventure - be it exploratory neighborhood walks, rampages at the local park chasing squirrels, ogling guinea pigs at PetSmart, or barking (and splashing) up a storm at the doggy beach. She is very comfortable getting in and out of cars, going to the vet, having her nails clipped (food is always a helpful incentive), and getting her teeth brushed.  While mild-mannered, Geneva barks when approached in close proximity by other dogs and generally does not enjoy their company (unless it's the doggy beach). Otherwise, Geneva does not seek out other dogs or pay them much mind. We have observed her bonding with some dogs, but it takes her time. For that reason, it is probably best that she is the only dog in the house or is introduced slowly. Geneva is very easygoing and trusting around older children, teens, and adults, but small children make her anxious (which is the only reason why we're rehoming her), so it would be best if she was placed in a home either without children or with children older than five. As a purebred coonhound, Geneva has a profound prey drive. Fortunately, she is very good at learning rules and can be trained where it is and is not permissible to bark. That being said, she would not be a good fit for a family with caged pets or cats. When you meet Geneva, you are immediately drawn to her gentle disposition, endearing soft ears that fan out with curiosity, and perceptive brown eyes. Do not be fooled by her age - Geneva is incredibly youthful and vivacious (When first adopted, someone asked how old she was and I told them she was seven. They clarified, "Seven months?"). She still loves to play chase in the backyard with her people, gnaws on toys when excited, and never tires of action. Geneva is wicked smart and easily picks up rules, hand gestures, tone, and routines (She knows that when I close my laptop at 4:30 and turn off my office lamp that it's time for dinner, so she preemptively runs to the kitchen.) She is not a licker or a "velcro dog," but Geneva appreciates quiet companionship and will be instant best friends with any one who engages her in play, takes her on a car ride, or runs around the park with her. Her goofy indignance and unwavering self-confidence have made her an endless source of entertainment. To know her is to love her (and laugh). Medical Note: Geneva has a thyroid condition that is easily managed with an inexpensive, twice-daily pill. She takes it with her meals, sometimes dipped in a smidge of peanut butter. Geneva is a courtesy post. If you would like to learn more about her, please email: adoptgeneva25@gmail.com. ##2603967##

Story
Lady is being fostered in TX. HI! I am delighted that you are interested in knowing more about me! I am about 3 months old*. My absolute passions are EAT, MOVE and Cuddle! In fact, among my many super pawers is my super sense of smell, so I became highly excited when smelling delicious foods around me! My foster mamma and I are working hard to learn how to harness this super power! My second super power is my high level of energy and my strong curiosity, I guess that makes three super powers, isn’ it? If you don’t give me a job to do, I will find it on my own! So it is very important for me that you become my guiding light. Yet, I also want you to be soft and cuddle with me in quiet times, since I actively look for bonding, reassurance, and safety. I am good with kiddos, but I will prefer kiddos 6+ since I - for now - get excited and might scratch them by accident. Also, I highly benefit from tolerant and playful siblings who can help me balance when the puppyhood zoomies come! Did I tell you that I am already potty trained? YUP!!! I am proudly potty trained. Regarding my eyes, I have Microphthalmia which “is a congenital condition where one or both eyeballs are abnormally small” on my right eye. My foster momma is seeing a little cloudiness on my left eye*, so I am going to visit an eye specialist in mid August. However, I have not presented any issue navigating the house, jumping the stairs, or avoiding any obstacles in the backyard. I am sure my foster momma will update any relevant info after our appointment. Are you ready to love me? * By the time of this writing on July 2nd. BDRA has voted against the use of eletrical fencing effective immediately.

Story
My name is Talia and I urgently need a great new home. (I have been returned to FARM twice through no fault of my own.) I am a 4 1/2 year old spayed female Beagle weighing 35 pounds. I did well in my last home with my owner's cat and I have also done well at doggie day care with other well socialized dogs. I am an affectionate girl who loves people, loves to cuddle, and loves to play with my toys. My former owner says I am quite a jumper, so I need a home with a high fence. I am also an exuberant walker and do well walking with my training collar. My former owner also wanted you to know that I did well with older kids, dogs, and cats. I have been told that I am very smart and highly trainable. (I am a graduate of the training program at Best Friends Furever.) I really, really need an owner or family that can give me lots of love, attention, and exercise. I am a very good girl. Please help me find a great new home! Love, Talia. Meet and greets for approved adopters will be by appointment. If you are interested in adopting, please fill out a dog application which can be found at http://fallstonanimalrescue.org/adopt/ and e-mail it to fallstonrescue@aol.com.
