Story
Ginger has arrived in Massachusetts and what a great dog she is! She's very engaging with new people, got settled quickly in her foster home and showed that she is a champion snuggler. She was adopted once from the shelter but her owner ended up in hospice and she was returned - so she's had experience living as a pet. She appears to be housebroken, understands that certain things are not allowed, although she could use some obedience training. Ginger is tentative in new urban situations around traffic and noise - she's clearly been a country girl, although she's gaining confidence. Ginger is about 4 yrs old and is a little underweight from the stress of shelter life at 48 lbs. Her ideal weight is probably around 55 lbs. Ginger is fostering in Rhode Island and is ready for visits. If you’d like to apply to adopt, please submit an application using the link below. Story
We saw sweet Ginny on Facebook. She was a stray that ended up in a high kill shelter in Virginia. Shortly after she arrived she gave birth to 4 puppies. The shelter had no idea that she was pregnant because she was nothing but skin and bones. We knew we somehow had to get her here to Tennessee so we put our thinking caps on and a lot of wonderful volunteers drove her to our pick up spot in southern VA where our regular transporter picked her and the babies up on his way back to Nashville. We met them in Nashville at 1 AM and drove the family 100 miles back to the rescue. We knew Ginny was young, possibly still a pup herself and our vet confirmed that she was only 11 months at the time of the puppy's birth. Her pups have all been adopted and now it's Ginny's turn! Walker Hounds are very high energy dogs and can be a little stubborn so make sure you research the breed before you make the choice to adopt. We insist on a fenced yard for her so she can have room to free run and enjoy the rest of her life. These dogs are the number one dumped off breed as their owners will desert them if they don't hunt the way they want them too! We have several of them here at the rescue for that very reason. They are fun loving couch potatoes and will bring you many years of joy and happiness! PLEASE NOTE THAT WE ARE LOCATED IN TENNESSEE AND YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO MEET OUR PETS PRIOR TO ADOPTION! ADOPTION FEE $650

Story
Sweet Lynda Layne was found in a cornfield eating rotten moldy corn from the ground. She was nothing more than a skeleton with skin. She weighed 31 pounds, now she weighs 50 pounds! We have before pics upon request. She was depressed, starving and defeated, dumped by her owner, as is very common in the south. When a hound dog doesn't hunt the way their owner wants them to, they take them for "the ride". Lynda was one of the lucky ones, she was found by a wonderful lady who took her home and then posted her on Facebook. Of course the owner never came so we took her into the rescue. The first night she was here, she never left my side. She even went potty on the pee pads! She has never had an accident in the house and sleeps by my side every night. You won't find a sweeter more loving dog than Lynda! She is young and healthy. Crate trained, microchipped, fully vaccinated and heart worm negative. She desperately needs a loving home. Could that be you? PLEASE NOTE THAT WE ARE LOCATED IN TENNESSEE AND YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO MEET OUR PETS PRIOR TO ADOPTION! ADOPTION FEE: $500

Story
Our sweet Abby is just a joy to be around. She came from a high kill shelter in South Carolina. We actually saw her on Facebook when they were begging for someone to get her out of there. She was 24 hours away from being euthanized. There are so very many stray hound dogs and the shelters run out of room so they only stay for so long before they are put to sleep. It's very sad. Abby is the sweetest, most loving girl that you will ever meet. She just loves everybody! She is a full blooded Walker hound, approximately 2 years young. She came with heart worms but we treated her and now she is heart worm free. She is also crate trained, fully vaccinated, microchipped and ready for her forever home! could that be you? Story
Our Jed is that exceptional, all around family dog that is rare in rescue. He loves everybody and has not flinched at all during a rescue process that leaves lesser dogs rattled.  We've been trying to piece together Jed’s backstory, and here's what we know for sure: he was found as a stray in North Carolina, and Animal Control Officers handled him with ease when they brought him to the County shelter. Jed looked weary and malnourished when he arrived at the rural Shelter, but his luck improved when the shelter transferred him to our Connecticut Rescue last month so that we could find him a forever home.  Throughout the chaotic rescue process, Jed has been a gentle sweetheart. He is full of life and personality, and at just one year old, he still has a bit of puppy mojo. He can be shy when meeting new people, but after five minutes, he warms up and is like a kid in a candy shop, soaking up new experiences with sheer glee. Jed is a super dog that would do well in any type of environment. Jed appears to be a Treeing Walker Coonhound, and he lives up to their lovable reputation. He is a large dog, at a lean weight of 55 pounds. His short, flat tri-colored coat is largely black and tan, with white markings. He has a million dollar profile! Jed is a very gentle boy and would be a great addition to an active family with older, dog savvy kids. He is friendly and will give everyone in the family equal attention. Jed is not one to play favorites, and he is very stranger friendly.  Jed could also join an active single or couple, who can provide at least one to two leisurely leash walks, so that he can meander and stop to smell the "roses." Scent hounds are extremely easy to manage because the leisurely walk that engages their senses, provides much needed mental and physical exercise. Jed has good house manners and is house trained and crate trained. Adopters should expect to troubleshoot the occasional accident that will inevitably occur during his transition to a new home. He has been neutered, and has received routine vaccinations and health screenings. If you are interested in Jed, please write to Angelsfrgod@aol.com or call/text Denise at 860-908-9738 for more info.
