Story
MEET LEXI!Lexi is a beautiful and intelligent pup who is looking for her new home! She is a sweet, energetic girl who`s always ready for her next adventure. She`s an active, food-motivated girl who already knows her basic commands and loves having the opportunity to learn new things. Her ideal home would be in a quiet area outside the city where she can settle in at her own pace. Lexi may be able to live with other animals with slow, proper introductions and could do well with dog-savvy children who understand how to give her the time and space to build her confidence. With a little patience and lots of love, Lexi will reward her family with a loyal companion who`s always ready for the next adventure. Come to Dedham to meet her! Lexi is currently up to date on all vaccinations, has been spayed, microchipped and seen by our vet team. For more information on this or any other animal currently residing at the Animal Rescue League of Boston, please call us at 617-426-9170. We welcome adopters from NH, RI, CT, and NY. However, we will be unable to facilitate same day adoptions due to state regulated paperwork requirements.

Story
Add a little spice to your life with this active young hound boy! Mustard is engaging and friendly; he's very gentle when being petted but can be enthusiastic and jumpy when stimulated by new people and dogs. Dogs? He loves them all, big and small. He's going to be a great companion and would probably do best with older children. Mustard came to us from a rural shelter in Murray County, Geogia. He's about 2 yrs old and weighs about 55 lbs. Mustard will arrive in late July. If you’d like to apply to adopt, please submit an application using the link below. Story
Meet Rey! A thoughtful almost five-year-old Treeing Walker Coonhound mix currently living in Medford, MA, whose heart beats strongest for bacon-scented fetch balls, cozy naps, and training games that come with tasty rewards. With her striking black and fawn coat and expressive eyes that light up for treats, Rey is both clever and loyal! She’s house-trained, crate-trained, and knows an impressive list of commands like “sit,” “stay,” “heel,” “touch,” and even “hold,” where she’ll patiently balance a treat on her nose. Walks around the neighborhood and treat-dispensing puzzle toys are some of her favorite ways to spend the day, and she’s happiest when life follows a calm, predictable routine. Rey is currently taking daily fluoxetine to support her anxiety, and with consistent training and structure, she’s made incredible progress! Her anxiety tends to show up around unfamiliar people and dogs who approach her with interest, and while she can settle quickly when left alone, she needs help managing greetings and space boundaries. Her current caregivers use leash management, positive reinforcement, and distance-based games to help her feel secure during new encounters. It’s important to note that Rey has a bite history. In past situations where she felt startled or overwhelmed—such as when someone disturbed her while she was sleeping or tried to take food—she has reacted defensively and bitten. These incidents were not unprovoked and did not require medical attention, and her signals when uncomfortable are easy to spot with experience. For this reason, Rey is not suitable for homes with children or other pets. She’s best suited for a quiet, structured environment with a caregiver who has experience working with anxious or reactive dogs. Despite her challenges, Rey is deeply connected to her people and incredibly responsive to training. She’s not high-energy, but she’s engaged and eager to learn when motivated by food and trust. We’re including a full month of behavioral guidance from our consultant to help Rey settle in. Her new family will have compassionate support every step of the way to feel confident, connected, and at home. Could your steady, pet-free home be the space where Rey can thrive with calm leadership and loving patience? Now that shes healthy, spayed, and ready to go, theyve asked Paws of Dixie Animal Rescue to help her find the loving forever home she deserves. Around 3 years old and weighing approximately 70 pounds, shes a beautiful, gentle girl with a sweet personality. She gets along wonderfully with other dogs and currently lives happily with canine companions. She also does great with children, making her a wonderful family dog. Story
Meet Henry! This sweet, very active 10-year-old Beagle is looking for a fresh start with a family ready to keep up with his happy spirit. Don`t let his age fool you. Henry loves long walks, following every interesting scent, and is always excited when treats are involved.Henry is a smart boy who rings bells when he needs to go outside to potty. Like many dogs, he prefers not to share his favorite high-value treats, but he`s happy to trade for something just as tasty. Because of this, he`s looking for a home without young children.Henry thrives on activity and is not the right fit for someone looking for a couch potato. Daily walks and plenty of opportunities to explore are a must. He also takes thyroid medication that costs approximately $30 per month. If you`re looking for a fun, affectionate Beagle who isn`t shy about sharing his signature howl, Henry may be your perfect match! Visit WARL during walk-in adoption hours on Mondays, Wednesdays, or Thursdays from 12–4 p.m. If you have another dog at home, please bring them along for a meet-and-greet. Henry may enjoy living with another dog, but they would have to meet first.
