Story
Noah is a very lucky hound who was found in the rural Virgnia woods by a hiker. Noah was badly injured and had a fractured leg and broken jaw, probably the result of being hit by a car. Noah is now in the care of one of our Virginia fosters. His jaw has mostly healed and following surgery, his leg is healing and he is expected to make a full recovery. In spite of all he's been through, Noah is a happy, friendly hound. His foster says 'He's very sweet and has been a good boy so far, only 2 accidents in the house, is good in the crate and doesn't mind it at all.' When cat tested, Noah ignored the cat until it growled at him and then he tried to run away. Noah is going to be a wonderful hound companion. He's about 3 yrs old and smaller at 40-45 lbs. We expect Noah to arrive in Massachusetts in mid-November. If you’d like to apply to adopt, please submit an application using the link below. Story
Bertha was turned in to a rural Virginia shelter with 2 other hounds. She's 4-5 years old and weighs about 50 lbs. Bertha is sweet and a little timid in new situations. This group of hounds has been through a lot and were urgent rescues from a full shelter. They are currently boarding in Virginia to keep them safe while we arrange foster care and adoptions. She did well with kids and cats when tested at the shelter. We'll have better photos soon - we have videos to share with interested adopters. Arriving in Massachusetts Dec 6th.   If you are looking for a loyal outdoor companion with a heart of gold, say hello to Kahlua—an 8-year-old Treewalker Coonhound mix who defines “good ole’ boy” in the best possible way. Around 60 pounds of love and sweetness, Kahlua lives for sunshine, breezes, rustling leaves, and long, thoughtful walks. He’s the kind of dog who doesn’t rush through life—he notices everything, appreciates the little things, and reminds you to slow down and enjoy the moment. Kahlua has impeccable manners. Need to tie your shoe? He’ll stop and wait. Collar slips off? He’ll walk right over so you can fix it. He listens beautifully and truly wants to please his person. He also has a fun side—he loves squeaky toys, playing fetch (sharing the ball is a work in progress!), giving kisses, and being tucked in under cozy blankets like the pampered hound he is.  This boy is also a lake and boat enthusiast—a true water bug who will happily join you for every lakeside adventure. He grew up with other dogs and prefers being the “big guy,” doing well with respectful smaller dogs or calmer companions. Solo walks? He’s relaxed and steady. With bigger, energetic dogs?
