Come meet me and 100+ of my adoptable friends at Louie's Legacy Animal Rescue's MEGA adoption event, Home for the Holidays! Saturday, November 22nd, 2025 at Woodbridge High School in Woodbridge, NJ from 11am - 3pm! Meet Copper! Copper is a 3 month old, 9 pound coonhound mix puppy who is sweet as can be! Copper is very affectionate and is happiest laying in the lap of his favorite people. He plays gently with the children in his foster home, enjoying a game of tug or chasing a ball that they throw for him. He has quite the appetite and will be happy to work for a treat! He is working hard on weewee pad training until he is old enough to go for walks. He will whine for a short time if left alone but settles quickly and sleeps in his crate quietly overnight with his littermate who he is being fostered with. These days he is enjoying playtime and snuggles with his foster family, wrestling with his brother, chewing on bully sticks, playing with toys and waiting patiently for a forever family to call his own! Copper is being fostered in Staten Island, NY. His adoption fee is $550. Story

Meet Soup, a sweet, affectionate hound with a heart as big as his floppy ears. Mostly Treeing Walker Coonhound with a little Bluetick Coonhound and Poodle, Soup is happiest exploring trails, following his nose, cuddling on the couch, or solving puzzle games. We adopted him five years ago, and he has been a joyful, loving companion ever since. He loves other dogs, enjoys off-leash play with reliable recall, and has been trained with an e-collar to help manage his hound instincts. He also lives peacefully with our cat, Jones—they spend their days chasing each other around the house. Soup is fully house-trained and has never had accidents in the house. He does require a special diet and more hands-on care for his ongoing GI condition than we can provide as we prepare to welcome our first child. We hope to find a loving home that can give this wonderful boy the care and affection he deserves.

Story

Mellow, gentle, and affectionate, senior dogs can be such a gift, and Monte is no exception. This 10-year old, 75-pound Treeing Walker Coonhound mix is the sweetest, kindest gentleman you’ll ever come to know. Plus, he’s really REALLY handsome. Check out those floppy brown ears and long lean legs! Monte loves everyone, from adults to kids to dogs, but he is particularly drawn to men and children. He is snuggly with anyone who shows him the slightest bit of attention, and he will accept pets and ear scratches all day long. Monte is very fond of his bed and sometimes refuses to get up because he likes to remain warm and cozy. Hey, who can blame him! Fairly energetic for an older chap, Monte will happily jog 2-3 miles at a leisurely pace, and he’s an absolute pleasure on a leash. Fully housebroken, Monte has lots of experience doing his business outside, so there are zero issues there. He also travels well by car. Wanna run some errands together? Monte is game! Monte responds to sit, lie down, come here, and go. He’s been known to occasionally help himself to human food, but as long as he knows you’re on to him, he tries to resist the urge to, say, lick that pat of butter. His favorite treats are freeze-dried meats, but he’s always appreciative of any table scraps that come his way. He’s a big boy with a big appetite. This magnificent creature is a very special dog who deserves a retirement home where he can live his best life in peace and harmony, while doling out love and licks to his heart’s content. 🚨 SCOTCH WAS ONLY 12–24 HOURS FROM DYING 🚨❤️‍🩹 Scotch was abandoned and left on the streets to fend for himself, slowly starving until his body simply couldn’t take much more. When we found him, we rushed him straight to the vet. The vet told us that had Scotch gone another 12–24 hours without being found and receiving medical care, he likely would not have survived. 💔 Just look at him. This poor boy was starving — yet somehow, after everything humans had done to him, he was still unbelievably sweet and gentle. Scotch is only about 3 years old, and he deserved so much better. ❤️‍🩹 But Scotch survived. He’s off the streets, receiving veterinary care, eating, gaining strength and THRIVING. Every day we’re seeing a little more life return to the body that was so terribly neglected.
