🐾 Meet Beau If you love hounds, Beau is going to steal your heart. At just 1.5 years old, Beau is everything you’d expect from a young hound - curious, affectionate, a little bit goofy, and always ready for his next adventure. He’s a purebred hound (with the classic good looks to prove it), and he’s got that sweet, soulful personality these dogs are known for. Beau is fantastic with other dogs and would truly thrive in a home with a canine companion. He loves to play, explore, and just be part of the pack. He’s also incredibly loving with his people - once he bonds with you, you’ll have a loyal best friend for life. Like most hounds, Beau follows his nose and enjoys being active, so he’d do best in a home that appreciates his energy and gives him outlets like walks, yard time, or even hiking adventures. Because of his enthusiasm and size, Beau would do best in a home with older children or adults. He’s not a fit for homes with young kids, but he’ll make an amazing companion in the right environment. 🐶 1.5 years old 🐾 Purebred hound (classic hound personality!) 🐕 Great with other dogs 👧 Best with older kids / adults ❤️ Sweet, affectionate, and loyal 🌳 Active and curious - loves to explore Beau is that perfect mix of playful and loving - the kind of dog who will happily go on an adventure with you and then curl up nearby at the end of the day. If you’re looking for a loyal, fun, and truly special companion, Beau might just be your guy. 💙 Beau is currently located in the CT/NY area and is ready for meet n greets! All adoptions are done on a first come, first adopt basis for pre-approved applicants. The Shelter software system requires that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable so for most of our dogs we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. Story
Meet Maverick! If you’ve ever wanted a dog with a nose for adventure, Maverick might be your perfect match. This handsome 4-year-old boy is about 50% Treeing Walker Coonhound, and he proudly embraces all the classic hound traits. He loves tracking scents, keeping an eye on the wildlife in the yard, and when he finds something interesting, his excitement is impossible to miss! Like many hounds, Maverick is highly food motivated, isn’t afraid to use his voice, and loves following his nose wherever it leads. He’s currently living in a foster home with one of our trainers, where he has learned the structure and skills he needs to succeed. Maverick is fully e-collar trained and will thrive with a family committed to continuing the training methods and routines that help him live his best life. Maverick is looking for a home that can provide consistency, clear boundaries, and a confident leader. He’s an active, intelligent dog who needs both physical exercise and mental enrichment to stay happy, so he’s not looking for a couch-potato lifestyle. In return, he’ll be a loyal and devoted companion. One of Maverick’s favorite things? Other dogs! He absolutely loves canine companionship and enjoys spending his days running and playing with his foster siblings. Maverick would do best in a quieter home with older children, teenagers, or adults who can continue providing the structure and guidance he needs. If you’re an active person who appreciates the charm, personality, and quirks of a hound, Maverick may be the perfect addition to your family.

Story
Scout is a neutered male hound/weimaraner mix (see his DNA results), weighing about 40-45 lbs! He is a sweet, special boy who has had a rough past and really needs an angel to step up and save his life. His estimated age is 5-6 years old, however he has graying on his muzzle which makes him look older than he is. He also has scars on his ears and face.   This boy has definitely experienced trauma and he is slow to trust people, but deep down he just wants to love and be loved.  He is misunderstood and has had people let him down too many times. Scout can do a 1 week foster to adopt trial with an approved adopter so you can see how he settles in before committing to adoption. Scout bonds closely to one person and once he trusts you, you will feel the love and adoration every time he looks into your eyes!  He is a lazy couch potato who loves to nap on the couch next to you and will follow you around the house like your shadow.  Once you’ve really earned his love, he will steal your slippers or other little trinkets that smell like you and take them onto the couch to keep close to him.  He won’t chew them, he just wants to keep a piece of you with him always.   Scout has been adopted and returned once due to fearful aggressive behavior towards men and children. He has been in his current foster home for over a year now and has not had any adopt interest. He is a good boy, but he requires a very specific type of home to do well, and we have not had any luck finding the right home for him   His current foster mom loves him and has worked hard to help him be the best boy he can be, but there is a man in the home and Scout just cannot comfortably coexist with a man. He (the man) understands that Scout’s aggression towards him comes from a place of fear and he has tried hard to earn Scout’s trust, but we feel that Scout would do best in a home with NO men.  Scout’s ideal home: A female only home, no men, children, or cats.  Scout does very well with other dogs and likes to be near them, he also has bursts of playful enjoy and will happily romp around for a play session! A friendly, confident doggo friend would help him to feel safe and to trust, although he would also do just fine as an only dog.  A quiet, calm home environment is best for Scout. He is lower energy and is happy to nap on the couch all day, but he does also love walks (he is strong and tends to pull, so he needs someone strong enough to handle him).   He needs a home that will commit to crating him in a separate room when they have visitors over, as he is not good with new people and when Scout is fearful, he relies on aggression to keep him safe and to keep the “scary” thing away.  Scout needs someone to love him for who he is, warts and all, who will set him up for success and advocate for him. Scout is currently being fostered in CT. If you think you might be a good fit for Scout, please consider applying to foster or adopt him!   Click HERE for Adoption Application: pawsrescueleague.org/adopt Adoption fees vary based on the dog and are not negotiable. As a small rescue that does not receive government funding or grants, we rely on adoption fees to stay afloat. Adoption fees help cover the following: vaccinations, wellness exams, heartworm/4DX testing, parasite prevention, spay/neuter (age-appropriate), microchipping, transport expenses, and other rescue-related overhead/administrative costs. Paws Rescue League, Inc is an all-inclusive rescue that does NOT only rescue puppies and young, healthy dogs.  We make a point to also rescue seniors, dogs with special needs, moms, and other “less desirable” dogs, knowing that we will likely incur higher veterinary expenses and that these dogs may take longer to get adopted.  As such, an individual adoption fee is not only reimbursing PRL for expenses directly related to that dog, but it is also helping us to continue our mission of taking in dogs that would otherwise be too much of a financial burden to save. We believe that ALL dogs deserve a second chance. Thank you for your support and understanding! ##1778132##

Please DO NOT USE the ADOPTAPET "CONTACT THIS RESCUE GROUP" form below or you may not hear from us as these often end up in spam or bouncing back. After receipt of your application, an adoption counselor will then be in touch to answer your questions about this pup, discuss the adoption process and get the ball rolling!
