Story
(DOB 09/15/2021) Gracie is heartworm positive and our rescue will treat her so don't let that stop you from adopting this cutie! For this reason, she is adoptable within 1 hour drive time of Wake Forest NC. Gracie is a fun-loving hound mix with a heart as big as her personality. She’s dog-friendly through and through and truly hasn’t met a pup she didn’t like. Kids? Yep, likes them, too. Strangers? She doesn’t know the meaning of the word. Everyone is instantly her new best friend. She wags her nubby tail when she sees you because she is very excited to see people! You are just gonna love, love, love this girl! If you’re hoping to skip some of the basics, Gracie has you covered. She’s house trained, listens well, and is especially impressive with her recall. Oh, and she has learned a pretty cool trick. She rings the bells on the door knob to tell us she has to go outside. She has become a wonderful companion when going for daily walks and is good on leash. A fenced yard (4 ft or higher) is important for her so she can run, play, and burn off some energy while she becomes fully comfortable with daily leash walks.  Gracie would do well as either an only dog or as part of a doggy family, though she’d likely be happiest with a four-legged friend to share life with. (Gracie hasn’t had the chance to meet cats yet, so that remains an unknown.) She thrives on love, attention, and being included in the fun. Like many hounds, she’s curious, clever, and always interested in what’s going on! She also loves to chew, so a good supply of toys and chews will keep her happy and occupied. Gracie is good in the car but it is still something that is new to her, so she is still adjusting to a world on wheels. With that in mind, she still can get car sick.  Like many hounds, Gracie has great facial expressions that will constantly make you smile or even giglle a little. Sweet, social, and full of charm, Gracie is ready to bring joy, laughter, and lots of tail wags to her forever home. Looking for love on four legs? Gracie is waiting! As part of Gracie’s $300 adoption fee, she will be spayed, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, and current on her monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. If you have questions about this sweet girl, you can email: Dogteam@pawsforlifenc.org. If you wish to adopt Gracie, you can fill in an online application for her under the Adopt a Pet Tab on our website: www.pawsforlifenc.org. ##2599058##

Story
(DOB 01/01/2024) Nick is heartworm positive, but please do not let this stop you from adopting him.  He is a loving boy that deserve a loving home and the rescue will cover his treatment.  For this reason, he is available for adoption within a 1 hour radius of Wake Forest, NC so he can receive his treatment at our partner veterinarian. Don't worry, our rescue will guide you through the process. If you’re looking for a low maintenance, easy-going companion, Nick may be your perfect match. This guy has a wonderfully relaxed personality and knows how to enjoy the simple things in life. He is an uncomplicated and sweet guy you will quickly fall in love with!! Nick is happy lounging in his crate, curled up in a cozy bed near your feet, or soaking up the sun in a fenced yard (so please have a fenced in yard for him; he'd love it!!!). Oh, and with that, he is mastering the doggie door like a champ. He has an independent side but still enjoys being close to his people, making him a great balance of affectionate and self-sufficient.  He gets along beautifully with other dogs and is just as content being the only dog in the home. Like a true hound, Nick has a classic howl, but he’s not overly vocal and saves it for when he feels inspired. He truly has a great voice that he uses only at the most opportune moments (most specifically when emergency vehicles & their sirens are blasting); you'll kinda just love it. Nick enjoys a daily stroll or two and is already learning how to walk nicely on a leash. He isn't interested in super lengthy outings, so if you love a quick walk to get some fresh air and a few steps in, Nick is your man! He is super content to get out for a bit and head back home for a little nap. He's so easy and laid back.  Overall, Nick is a calm, uncomplicated dog who would thrive in a relaxed home looking for a sweet, steady companion to share quiet days and comfy naps. With that in mind, a home with older, mature kids would be good, but a household with active, young ones, he'd need a pass. He's the kind of dog that could adjust to several different types of homes and lifestyles and would make an awesome addition to a loving family. He's just a cool dude looking for an equally cool person(s)! Is that you? As part of Nick’s $300 adoption fee, he will be neutered, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, and current on his monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. If you have questions about this sweet pup, you can email: Dogteam@pawsforlifenc.org. If you wish to adopt Nick, you can complete an online application for him under the Adopt a Pet Tab on our website: www.pawsforlifenc.org. ##2618279##

Story
Meet Pooh — a 6&#226&#128&#145month&#226&#128&#145old, 12 lb Bluetick Beagle pup with a heart full of sweetness and a nose that’s always ready for adventure.   Quick Facts: Name: Pooh Breed: Bluetick Beagle Mix Age: 6 months old Weight: 12 lbs. House-Trained: Working on it! Crate-Trained: Yes Good with Dogs: Yes (would love a playful sibling!) Good with Cats: Yes Good with Kids: Yes, best with kids who can handle puppy energy Energy Level: Medium (playful) Fence Required: No, but preferred due to her explorative nature   About Pooh’s Breed: Our best guess is that Pooh is a Bluetick Beagle mixed breed. Bluetick Beagles are known for their keen noses, curious minds, and cheerful, affectionate personalities. They’re classic little hounds—playful, expressive, and always ready to follow an interesting scent. Their striking bluetick coat pattern gives them a unique look, and their friendly nature makes them wonderful companions for families and other pets.   An ideal home for a Bluetick Beagle is one that offers plenty of exercise, mental stimulation, and safe opportunities to explore. Because their noses lead the way, they thrive with a fenced yard or regular leashed adventures. They do best with families who appreciate their energetic, inquisitive spirit and can provide consistent training, companionship, and lots of love.   What to Love about Pooh: Pooh is playful, loving, and full of that irresistible puppy energy that makes every day a little brighter! When she’s not exploring or playing with her toys, she’s happiest curled up in bed, where she sleeps soundly through the night.   Pooh is still learning the ropes of puppy life — she’s mostly potty trained but may still have accidents, and she’s working hard on her manners, including understanding the word “no.” She’s crate trained and should be crated or gated when left alone, as her curious beagle nose can lead her into mischief. She rides well in the car (though drive&#226&#128&#145thrus aren’t her favorite), walks nicely on a leash, and is eager to keep learning with a patient, dog&#226&#128&#145savvy family.   She adores other dogs and would love a playful canine sibling to romp with! She’s also good with cats and would do well with respectful, dog&#226&#128&#145savvy kids. With her hound instincts, Pooh loves to sniff, explore, and follow scents, so a fenced yard or regular leashed adventures would make her very happy!   Pooh’s Precious Highlights: 6&#226&#128&#145month&#226&#128&#145old, 12 lb Bluetick Beagle puppy with tons of sweetness and playful energy Loves to explore and sniff — classic hound instincts in a tiny package Great with dogs, cats, and respectful kids Crate trained and should be crated or gated when left alone (curious puppy nose!) Mostly potty trained but still learning, as expected for her age Enjoys walks, rides well in the car, and is learning basic commands Plays wonderfully with other dogs and would love a playful canine sibling Sleeps through the night and loves cuddling when she’s not busy playing   Pooh is a remarkable little pup — sweet, energetic, curious, and full of love. She’s ready to grow, learn, and thrive with a family who can guide her through puppyhood and enjoy all the joy she brings!   Comprehensive details are provided in the dog's description. to ensure a smooth process, please submit a completed application through our website at: http://crisisdogsnc.org/dog-adoption/. Please note that questions via email or social media channels may not receive a response without a completed application. As part of our commitment to responsible adoption practices, we require excellent veterinarian references and conduct virtual home visits. Additionally, your prior or current dog must be on year-round heartworm prevention. We assist with coordinating transportation by both land and air whenever feasible. All assessments regarding breed and age are conducted by licensed veterinarians. We look forward to assisting you in finding your perfect canine companion!January 25, 2026, 12:48 pm
