Story
Budreau is a playful, cuddly boy with a joyful spirit and a big heart. He rides beautifully in the car and is always ready for the next adventure — especially if it ends with snuggles. One of his favorite things is gently waking you up in the morning for hugs before starting his day. He loves to run and play with his dog friends, chew on his favorite toys, and engage in a good game of tug-of-war. Budreau would thrive in a home with a fenced yard or regular access to a safe play area, and he would do best with another playful dog to help burn off his happy energy. While he rarely barks and enjoys meeting new people, he can be a little cautious at first. Give him a moment, though, and his goofy, affectionate personality quickly shines through. Budreau is housetrained and does very well on a consistent routine. He wakes up ready to play, enjoys activity throughout the day, and is equally happy settling in for cozy naps. He would likely do great with kids. His compatibility with cats is unknown. Budreau is up to date on vaccines, preventatives, and microchipped, and will soon be neutered. He's ready to find a home where he can share his playful energy and loving nature.

Story
(DOB 09/15/2021) Gracie is heartworm positive and our rescue will treat her so don't let that stop you from adopting this cutie! For this reason, she is adoptable within 1 hour drive time of Wake Forest NC. Gracie is a fun-loving hound mix with a heart as big as her personality. She’s dog-friendly through and through and truly hasn’t met a pup she didn’t like. Kids? Yep, likes them, too. Strangers? She doesn’t know the meaning of the word. Everyone is instantly her new best friend. She wags her nubby tail when she sees you because she is very excited to see people! You are just gonna love, love, love this girl! If you’re hoping to skip some of the basics, Gracie has you covered. She’s house trained, listens well, and is especially impressive with her recall. Oh, and she has learned a pretty cool trick. She rings the bells on the door knob to tell us she has to go outside. She has become a wonderful companion when going for daily walks and is good on leash. A fenced yard (4 ft or higher) is important for her so she can run, play, and burn off some energy while she becomes fully comfortable with daily leash walks.  Gracie would do well as either an only dog or as part of a doggy family, though she’d likely be happiest with a four-legged friend to share life with. (Gracie hasn’t had the chance to meet cats yet, so that remains an unknown.) She thrives on love, attention, and being included in the fun. Like many hounds, she’s curious, clever, and always interested in what’s going on! She also loves to chew, so a good supply of toys and chews will keep her happy and occupied. Gracie is good in the car but it is still something that is new to her, so she is still adjusting to a world on wheels. With that in mind, she still can get car sick.  Like many hounds, Gracie has great facial expressions that will constantly make you smile or even giglle a little. Sweet, social, and full of charm, Gracie is ready to bring joy, laughter, and lots of tail wags to her forever home. Looking for love on four legs? Gracie is waiting! As part of Gracie’s $300 adoption fee, she will be spayed, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, and current on her monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. If you have questions about this sweet girl, you can email: Dogteam@pawsforlifenc.org. If you wish to adopt Gracie, you can fill in an online application for her under the Adopt a Pet Tab on our website: www.pawsforlifenc.org. ##2599058##

Story
(DOB 01/01/2024) Nick is heartworm positive, but please do not let this stop you from adopting him.  He is a loving boy that deserve a loving home and the rescue will cover his treatment.  For this reason, he is available for adoption within a 1 hour radius of Wake Forest, NC so he can receive his treatment at our partner veterinarian. Don't worry, our rescue will guide you through the process. If you’re looking for a low maintenance, easy-going companion, Nick may be your perfect match. This guy has a wonderfully relaxed personality and knows how to enjoy the simple things in life. He is an uncomplicated and sweet guy you will quickly fall in love with!! Nick is happy lounging in his crate, curled up in a cozy bed near your feet, or soaking up the sun in a fenced yard (so please have a fenced in yard for him; he'd love it!!!). Oh, and with that, he is mastering the doggie door like a champ. He has an independent side but still enjoys being close to his people, making him a great balance of affectionate and self-sufficient.  He gets along beautifully with other dogs and is just as content being the only dog in the home. Like a true hound, Nick has a classic howl, but he’s not overly vocal and saves it for when he feels inspired. He truly has a great voice that he uses only at the most opportune moments (most specifically when emergency vehicles & their sirens are blasting); you'll kinda just love it. Nick enjoys a daily stroll or two and is already learning how to walk nicely on a leash. He isn't interested in super lengthy outings, so if you love a quick walk to get some fresh air and a few steps in, Nick is your man! He is super content to get out for a bit and head back home for a little nap. He's so easy and laid back.  Overall, Nick is a calm, uncomplicated dog who would thrive in a relaxed home looking for a sweet, steady companion to share quiet days and comfy naps. With that in mind, a home with older, mature kids would be good, but a household with active, young ones, he'd need a pass. He's the kind of dog that could adjust to several different types of homes and lifestyles and would make an awesome addition to a loving family. He's just a cool dude looking for an equally cool person(s)! Is that you? As part of Nick’s $300 adoption fee, he will be neutered, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, and current on his monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. If you have questions about this sweet pup, you can email: Dogteam@pawsforlifenc.org. If you wish to adopt Nick, you can complete an online application for him under the Adopt a Pet Tab on our website: www.pawsforlifenc.org. ##2618279##

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. INTERESTED IN MEETING OR ADOPTING MARTHA from Best Friend Pet Adoption rescue? If so, please fill out our dog adoption application by copying and pasting this link in a new browser window: https://toolkit.rescuegroups.org/of/f?c=WHMSYCNC   Meet   Martha   – a happy, curious, and full of gentle sweetness little senior with so much love to give.  Martha is the kind of dog who reminds you that the best things in life are simple: a cozy couch, a warm sunbeam, and a home where she’s finally part of the family. After spending most of her life outdoors in a kennel, Martha is discovering just how wonderful indoor life can be—and she’s absolutely charmed by it all. This lovely girl has a low energy level, making her a wonderful companion for someone who enjoys a relaxed pace. She loves to sniff around the yard, explore new things, and then curl up for a peaceful nap—preferably in a sunny spot on the couch. Every now and then she’ll surprise you with a burst of adorable zoomies or a little wrestling match with one of her dog friends. Martha is very friendly with people and gets along beautifully with other dogs. In fact, she currently lives with a rotating group of foster pups and does great with all of them. While she could be an only dog, she would probably love having a canine buddy or two to share her days with. She’s also a wonderful house guest. Martha is crate trained and does very well when crated at night or while her foster is at work. She’s mostly housebroken, with only the occasional accident, especially while learning a new routine. With patience and consistency in a new home, she’ll master it. Because she spent much of her life outside, Martha still finds everyday household items fascinating. When she first arrives, you might catch her curiously carrying off a shoe, pillow, remote, or even a small rug—not out of mischief, but pure excitement at all these new treasures! It’s part of her adorable charm as she learns what home life is all about. She’s a quiet dog, rarely barking unless the rest of the pack gets excited. She could do well in many homes, including an apartment, as long as her new family understands she may need a little time to settle into a new routine. She rides in the car but can sometimes get carsick, so she’s probably more of a homebody than a road-trip companion. What Martha wants most is something she’s never truly had before: a soft place to land and someone to love her through her golden years. She doesn’t need much—just kindness, patience, and a comfy couch to call her own. If you’re looking for a gentle, soulful companion who will appreciate every bit of love you give, Martha may be the perfect addition to your home. And giving this sweet senior the life she’s always deserved will be one of the most rewarding decisions you’ll ever make.  Martha is going through treatment for heartworm disease.   Best Friend Pet Adoption will provide medical care and cost while she is going through this treatment.  This is not contagious and she is fine to be around other pets.   Some of the information contained in this biography includes approximations based on our expertise and is not guaranteed.  Applicants ideally should live no further than one hour from Cary NC as our dogs must be seen by a BFPA veterinarian for all medical care prior to adoptions being finalized.  Our foster guardians deliver dogs to their new homes for adoption trials and we do home visits to finalize all adoptions.  We therefore prefer applicants that live within an hours drive of Cary NC.   INTERESTED IN ADOPTING MARTHA?
