We are guessing Rocky to be between 5-7 years old. He is calmer and would be fine as an only dog but also does okay with other dogs, he just doesn't seem to need a canine companion. He is more set in his ways and is relearning that people are good. He enjoys being pet and is social, but he doesn't like to be forced to do something before he is ready. We anticipate that he will bond quickly with his new family, but would do best if that family could give him the space that he needs while he learns to trust them. He is completely crate trained. We are looking for a home with no children for River. She is the sweetest dog. She sleeps most of the time, and she loves to lay out in the sun. She is older and we want a calm home for her. While a fenced yard is not a requirement, it should be noted that she has learned to clear 4ft fencing so a taller fence, in ground fence or tie out system is needed if the dog will be outside without supervision. River is a calm sweet girl, approximately 65 pounds and guessing 8 years old. She is potty trained and crate trained and is very food motivated. We think that she used to be a trained hunting dog because of her enthusiasm to run out the door and jump into a crate in the car. She is great with other dogs and cats and is mild mannered around her people. She crates lovely and is currently in her crate through the night or when her foster family isn't in the home. At her previous home before coming into rescue, we were told that she was fine when left loose in the house. River was heartworm positive when she came into rescue and will require monthly heartworm prevention. If you are interested in meeting and/or adopting this baby, please fill out an application. Meet Starla! This sweet Beagle Mix lady is 4 years old and weighs about 25lbs. Starla came to rescue after ending up in the shelter incredibly pregnant. Despite our vet's best efforts, Starla lost all of her puppies, leaving her sad and confused. Fast forward a few months later, this sweet girl is coming into her own and realizing how wonderful having a family in a home can be! Starla is very sweet, rolling on her back for belly rubs whenever she gets the chance. She loves to go for walks and to explore the yard. She is fostered with other dogs and with cats and has done well meeting everyone, although a little nervous at first. Starla is fostered with two human foster brothers, ages 11 and 6 and gets frequent visits from the neighborhood kids, who love to take her for walks! Starla is great on a leash - sometimes needing a little extra persuasion to keep walking if she hears a scary noise! He's about 3 years old and fully grown at 27 pounds. Unfortunately Jones was bitten by the wrong mosquito and has tested heartworm positive. Fortunately he's young and treatable. He's already begun his treatment journey. He needs to go to a home in the greater Cincinnati area to complete his treatment. The rescue will cover the cost of his treatment. Jones needs a home with a physically-fenced yard and would be so happy to have another playful dog sibling. If you'd like to meet Jones, please fill out a dog adoption application at dreamhouserescue.org. We are happy to arrange a private meet with an approved adopter. You can meet Jones at our weekly adoption event, Saturday noon-2 at PetSmart Eastgate. Our fully-vetted adoptable dogs go to prospective homes for a one-week trial period to make sure the dog and home are the right fit before an adoption is finalized.
