Story
MOOSE loves toys. Loves loves love. He loves toys more than food, and for a basset hound/beagle-type mixed breed boy, that's saying something! MOOSE is a handsome young boy with absolutely stunning eyes. He is a sweet guy who simply loves everyone he meets. He's right around 1 year old and fully grown at 38 pounds. Moose has a big, fun personality best suited to a home where he'll get lots of attention and exercise. Moose needs a home with a physically fenced yard to keep him from following his nose into trouble. He's dog friendly and would be fine with a dog sibling his size or larger. If you would like to meet Moose, please fill out a dog adoption application at dreamhouserescue.org. We are happy to arrange a private meet with an approved adopter. You can meet Jeromeo at our weekly adoption event, Saturday noon-2 at PetSmart Eastgate. All of our fully-vetted adoptable dogs go to prospective homes for a one-week trial period to make sure the dog and home are the right fit before an adoption is finalized. We only adopt dogs into homes where all current pets are spayed/neutered and current on vaccines and heartworm and flea and tick prevention. We do check veterinary references to make sure adopters are compliant with standard veterinary care. Our adoption fee covers the dog’s veterinary care, including spay/neuter surgery, vaccines, microchip, deworming, flea and tick prevention, heartworm prevention and any other needed veterinary care. A deposit is required to take a dog home for a trial period. The deposit will be applied to the dog’s final adoption fee. Story
When Irish eyes are smiling, does that mean they are happy? Or maybe they had too many pints at the pub? My eyes are smiling, and I am a non drinker, just want to have full disclosure here! Even though my eyes were smiling in these pictures. I was desperate for help for my little one, Lewis. You see, he was dying...full of internal and external parasites he really had no fight left in him and I knew it as his mother... so I used my Irish eyes to get us saved. AND IT WORKED!! Our lives are do amazing now, Lewis is alive and well after some very intense care, and ADOPTED INTO AN AMAZING HOME!!! I am not ever producing more babies, so it is all good! Now I get my turn for love, comfort and safety and a FOREVER HOME!! I am an adorable girl, about 50# of low-rider basset/heeler-ness. I am great with other dogs and like to play keep away! I am ready when you are, do your stuff so we can ride off into the sunset, in air conditioning, of course! Adoption application: https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/GDR/Dog Local adoption fee is $200 (in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $400 (includes transport to your area)

Story
Midge is a very gentle Basset Hound and Chinese Shar pei mix looking for a forever home. She was taken in from a bad hoarding situation and is now doing living in a REAL foster home with other happy and loved friends and food and medical care too!! I am learning everyday what it means to be man's best friend and it is pretty sweet :) Midge came to the rescue with little hair and skin infections and entropion on both eyes (meaning her eyelashes were scraping her eyes every minute of every day..... think about how miserable it is to have ONE eyelash in your eye ;( and STILL a sweet and loving personality, despite how she was physically. The rescue fixed all my stuff up and now I have gorgeous, shiny and thick black fur and my eyes don't hurt anymore!!! She would be best in a home with another calm and confident dog. No food issues, couchy potato in training!! Local adoption fee is $200 (in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $400 (includes transport to your area - $50 Temporary Fuel Charge will be added)

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Please contact Sally (Ohbassetrescue@yahoo.com), 937-321-6356 for more information about this pet.April 14 update. Tuffy is doing great with her treatment and the hope is she will be ready for adoption early July. Thank you for your continued support!   Feb 16 update: Tuffy is currently in a foster home close to our Columbus vet. She will still continue HW treatment under our care until her vetting is complete. We would consider her for adoption only under the circumstances that she is adopted close to our vet and in a home ideal for recovery. Otherwise she will not he made available for several months until she is completely healthy. ****** Sweet Tuffy is a special needs girl at the moment, and needs a CALM and QUIET home! She is currently at our vet in Columbus and needs a foster and/or forever home! We are willing to so a foster to adopt on Tuff due to her Heartworm treatment plan. Tuff came to OBHR in bad shape. Dehydrated, diarrhea, bad teeth and ears, but as soon as she started to perk up we found out she was heartworm positive.  Her HW treatment has begun and she is in need of a calm place to live while she is on the road to recovery. Because she will need to be seen by our vet in Columbus we need someone who will be able to bring her back to our vet to continue her treatments every several weeks at our cost. Once her HW treatments are passed and she is given the green light we will also do her dental and spay. Her next time needing to come back to our vet will be March 31.  Tuff is a sweet senior girl who needs a second chance at life. She is good with other dogs and kids, older kids only please due to her needing to be calm and quiet, but she is NOT good with cats or small animals.  If you can give Tuff a safe quiet place to recoup or to live out her life please apply at ohiobassetresuce.com and when approved email us at ohbassetrescue@yahoo.com. Her adoption fee is $200. (much less than her vet bills!)Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.May 2, 2024, 1:16 pm

Story
WE ARE A TX BASED RESCUE. THIS DOG IS CURRENTLY LOCATED IN TX AND WILL BE TRANSPORTED UPON ADOPTION. Please fill out an adoption application found at haydudeequine.org Sarah - You are the bridge between what was and what will be, my pathway to a new life! Sarah from the Hebrew origins means 'Princess'. What a dream come true, being YOUR princess!! I could totally get on board being treated like a princess, you know, like being spoiled rotten with lots of belly rubs and ear and under the chin scratches and whoa if you threw in some treats that'd just be the bomb...a life of a princess!! I am a total sweetheart of around 8 years, that was pulled from a local shelter where I was on 'the list'. I was shutting down being in a cold loud kennel but since being in my foster home, I've opened up and am starting to blossom. I do wonderfully with the other pups here, even occasionally trying to play. I'm also enjoying playing with stuffie toys. I even like that resident weird smelling thing y'all call a cat, I mostly just let her be (cuz ya know, she smells weird!). I also do great with the little kiddos, being oh so gentle with them. Most of the time I'm quite content to take a snooze while you're doing your thing. I am house broken and getting good at using the doggie door to come inside and am just starting to realize I can use it to go out too! I'm really getting to love this doggie door thing! I like going for our walks around the property but I'm more of a meanderer then a cruiser. I'm at that stage in my life where I like to stop and smell the flowers instead of bulldozing right over them! Coming in at around 43lbs I'm not too small that I get under your feet but I'm not too big that I take up the whole... everything. I would make a great companion type pup for someone retired or that works from home. I would even make a great first time dog parent pup. I will be good in the kennel but I definitely don't care to use one and I'm very good about not getting into things I shouldn't. Are you looking for that calm mellow gal that will be happy just to be in the same room? Are you looking for that someone to share in your daily life going on's from the mundane to the exciting? That constant, your princess, in your life that will never turn down belly rubs or treats? Oh wait, yep...that'd be ME!!!

Story
Meet Wally! This 3 year old Beagle mix would love nothing more than to be your best friend and future snuggle buddy. At 35 lbs, Wally is ready to go on those summer walks to sniff around the grass and help him to lose a few pounds. After that, his greatest desire would be to curl up on a pillow and receive an endless amount of scratches and cuddles. Wally is crate-trained and doing well with potty training. He is getting the hang of regularly going outside and will use potty pads if needed. Wally prefers short stints in his crate but is not destructive if left out when home alone, although he certainly prefers the companionship of his people. Wally is fostered with other dogs his size and smaller and gets along with them all very well, simply happy to coexist with them. Wally was shy and unsure upon first entering his foster home, but after a few days and some patience he became the most snuggly, happy guy. He loves to wag his curly tail and ask for belly rubs as soon as he sees his people. If you are looking for an amazing best buddy to call your own, apply for Wally today! Wally is fostered in the Cincinnati area. His adoption fee is $400.00. To adopt this animal, please visit https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt All of our animals come spayed or neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, are microchipped, heartworm negative, current on flea/tick and heartworm prevention, dewormed, and treated for any ailments found upon veterinary examination. The adoption fee covers a portion of these services, and makes it possible for us to continue rescuing animals. For more information on the adoption fees and the adoption process, please complete our adoption application here: https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt - an application allows us to get to know your family better so we can assess whether the animal you are interested in is a good match for your home. An application does not obligate you to adopt. Please understand that due to the volume of applications some animals receive, we are unable to contact all applicants. If your application is considered a good fit for the animal you are interested in, or even a different pet, a volunteer will give you a call as soon as possible. We are a foster based rescue and do not have a shelter location where animals can be seen during the week. Please see our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/LouiesLegacy for our weekly adoption album if you are interested in meeting an animal in person. Not all animals attend every adoption event, please check our Facebook page for animal event times and locations before you make a trip to meet a specific animal.

Story
Meet Waffles! Waffles is a 4-year-old 20lb Beagle. Her superpower is her friendliness. She loves people and would be delighted if you would come meet her and give her some pets. Her tail is always wagging. She has a healthy hound appetite for treats so could be motivated by those. Waffles absolutely loves walks. A perfect day for her would include at least one but preferably two of those. She can walk long distances but a stroll around the block would do just fine as well. She is working on her leash manners. As a typical hound, she tends to follow her nose. Keeping her on a leash or in harness is a must as a squirrel could distract her quite a bit. When it comes to housetraining, Waffles is doing very well. She has had a few accidents in her foster home, but a consistent schedule will lead her to success. Her crate training has been very successful. She settles very quickly and snoozes the whole time her foster family is gone. She may give a little hello howl when you return due to excitement to see you. Waffles enjoys being around kids but is still learning to keep all four paws on the floor. She gets along great with other dogs and would do well in a home with another one to play with. All toys are her favorite. If you're looking for a playful, lovable goofball, then come meet Waffles. Waffles is currently being fostered in Cincinnati, OH. Her adoption fee is $400.00.
