Onyx is a 1.5-year-old mixed breed beauty with a sleek black coat, striking white markings, and an expressive face that’s hard to forget. We believe she may have some Walker Hound in her, and her elegant features certainly fit the bill. We believe she may have some Walker Hound in her, and her elegant features certainly fit the bill. At just 32 pounds, she’s a wonderful medium size — easy to handle and easy to love. Sweet and affectionate, Onyx gives the impression that she once knew the finer things in life and would very much like to return to them. She is both crate trained and house trained, making her an easy addition to a home. Her play style is bouncy and fun, but when the excitement winds down, she is more than happy to settle in for attention and cuddles. Onyx has proven to be dog friendly with both big and small dogs alike, showing appropriate, social behavior across the board. She would enjoy a canine companion or do well as a social pup with dog friends. She does have one very firm opinion: wet paws are a hard no. Rainy days and puddles are absolutely not her vibe, and she makes that clear in the most endearing way. Onyx is looking for a family who will appreciate her gentle nature, charming personality, and funny little quirks — and who is ready to give her the comfort and love she deserves. Email adoptpetersburg@gmail.com to learn more or to set up a time to meet Onyx.

Story
If you are looking for a loyal outdoor companion with a heart of gold, say hello to Kahlua—an 8-year-old Treeing Walker Coonhound mix who defines “good ole’ boy” in the best possible way. Around 60 pounds of love and sweetness, Kahlua lives for sunshine, breezes, rustling leaves, and long, thoughtful walks. He’s the kind of dog who doesn’t rush through life—he notices everything, appreciates the little things, and reminds you to slow down and enjoy the moment. Kahlua has impeccable manners. Need to tie your shoe? He’ll stop and wait. Collar slips off? He’ll walk right over so you can fix it. He listens beautifully and truly wants to please his person. He also has a fun side—he loves squeaky toys, playing fetch (sharing the ball is a work in progress!), giving kisses, and being tucked in under cozy blankets like the pampered hound he is.  This boy is also a lake and boat enthusiast—a true water bug who will happily join you for every lakeside adventure. He grew up with other dogs and prefers being the “big guy,” doing well with respectful smaller dogs or calmer companions. Solo walks? He’s relaxed and steady. With bigger, energetic dogs? He may pull a bit in excitement. Kahlua loves kids who treat him kindly and is friendly toward cats, even though he didn’t share a home with them before. Above all else, Kahlua is drawn to people who make him feel loved—give him attention and he’ll give you his whole heart. He does get springtime seasonal allergies, so starting Apoquel in February or early March keeps him feeling his best. It’s a simple bit of care for a dog who gives so much sweetness in return. Kahlua’s former mama adored him deeply but faced life changes that made caring for him impossible. Now he’s ready for a forever home where he can spend his years surrounded by stability, love, comfort, and a family who appreciates everything he has to offer. Kahlua is ready to be someone’s best friend. If you want a loyal companion with an old soul and endless love to share, come meet this wonderful boy.  Please email Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrtennessee@gmail.com if you are interested in giving this boy the years of his life as your best sidekick ever   PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comJanuary 12, 2026, 9:57 am

Story
Meet Ginny, a sweet and playful girl with a gentle, submissive spirit. Ginny is spayed, up to date on vaccines, and both house and crate trained, making her an easy addition to a home. While she enjoys short bursts of play, she is truly a cuddler at heart and would much rather be snuggled up with her people than constantly on the go. She absolutely loves being outside. Whether she is out on a walk or happily rolling around in the grass, nothing seems to bring her more joy than fresh air and time outdoors. Ginny has done well living with other dogs, cats, and kids, making her a wonderful fit for a variety of households. She previously lived peacefully with her more dominant buddy Greta, who has since been adopted, and she currently gets along great with her foster brother, a 1-year-old Aussie mix. She also cohabitates calmly with a cat. Ginny is around 3 to 4 years old and currently weighs about 42 pounds. With regular walks and a consistent routine, she could stand to lose a few pounds. She has an easygoing, affectionate personality and loves attention, especially when she can be snuggled. Ginny is currently in a foster home, so meetings are by arrangement. If you are interested in learning more or setting up a meet and greet, please email adoptpetersburg@gmail.com. If you are looking for a loving, easygoing companion who enjoys outdoor adventures and then curling up for snuggles, Ginny could be the perfect match.

Story
Angel is a gentle, loving three-year-old beagle mix who weighs about 35 pounds. She is a people oriented dog who enjoys companionship, calm affection, and being part of daily life. Angel is fully housebroken, settles well indoors, and loves both her walks and time in the yard. She is content to curl up on the couch, sleeps through the night, and has a steady, easygoing temperament. She is not a picky eater and does well with a little wet food added to her kibble. She gets along well with both dogs and cats. She has not been tested with children, so families with kids should plan for a meet and greet to ensure comfort and safety for everyone. Angel is not yet spayed, but we will assist her adopter in securing a spay appointment to make the process simple and affordable. Angel is searching for a new home because her owner is facing significant health challenges and wants to ensure she is placed with a family who can give her the care and stability she deserves. If you are interested in meeting Angel or would like more information, please contact us at adoptpetersburg@gmail.com.
