Meet the new guy, Whiskey Sunrise! This treeing walker coonhound is like a shot of southern whiskey 🥃 - rough around the edges but with a heart of gold ❤️. He's still learning the ropes and has never lived in a house, but he's got a big personality and loves being adored. He is only around a year old and loves playing with other dogs and is learning that life is great! Augusta Dog Adoptions is a 501c3, foster-based rescue. We take applications online and schedule adoptions in Waynesboro, VA. A $175.00 adoption fee ($300 for puppies under 6 months old) helps us take care of all the dogs we rescue. All dogs are spayed/neutered, tested for heartworm and tick borne diseases (if old enough), microchipped, and vaccinated for rabies (if old enough), distemper/parvo and bordetella. They are also treated for internal and external parasites. Many dogs also receive extensive medical care such as dental work and major surgeries. Milo was born in May 2023 and is full of young-dog energy and personality! He’s fixed and ready to find his forever home. This sweet, goofy boy loves to play and absolutely adores his toys. If there’s a ball, rope, or squeaky toy around, he’s all in! He also loves to bark and will happily let you know what’s going on — he’d make a great little “alert system” for your home. Milo has been around kids, cats, and other dogs and has done well with them. He can be unsure around new animals and strangers at first, so slow introductions and a little patience will help him feel secure. Once he trusts you, he is incredibly loving and protective of his people. He is an indoor dog who loves being close to his family, but he definitely needs space outside to run and burn off his energy. A fenced yard or active family would be ideal. Milo would benefit from some continued training to help him be his very best self — he’s smart and young, so he has tons of potential!

Teela is a very loving 5ish year old Treeing Tennessee Brindle. She’s great around other dogs, cats, and especially children. May be a bit too excitable for really small children or elderly though, as she loves to play and gets the zoomies often when she’s outside. Due to my job (12 to sometimes 18 hour shifts) I can’t in good conscience keep her crated or confined indoors alone for that amount of time. She needs an owner that is able to give her the playtime and exercise she deserves.
