Slash is a sweet, shy eight-year old cat who loves to cuddle but also appreciates his alone time. He is good with other cats (though, like any cat, he needs a structured introduction) and essentially ignores other dogs--he has lived in homes with both cats and other dogs. He loves to sit and stare out of the window or cuddle on the couch. We rescued Slash when he was a kitten and have had him his whole life--he is a lovely, kind cat who has been steady through many moves through many different states and always inspires comments from others about how beautiful he is. He is definitely shy at first, but he easily warms up to people and will often remember guests when they visit our home. We are rehoming him because our dog is terrified of cats and will often bark at Slash or try to chase him. After multiple years of work with various trainers to try to work on our dogs problem, a vet suggested that it would be kindest to our pets to rehome one of them so they can live in peace.

Aptly named for her luxurious tortie coat, Miss Kitty Fluffington is a sweetly shy cat looking for a quiet home with a patient, understanding adopter. She came to the Frederick shelter as an unsocialized stray with two kittens. We brought her into our foster program to give her time to raise her kittens, and she was a wonderful mom, giving her little ones lots of love and trusting her foster caretakers enough to allow them to socialize her kittens. The kittens found a wonderful home together, and now it's Miss Kitty's turn. She's made a lot of progress in her own socialization. At mealtimes, she greets her foster mom with happy, excited meows, loves their daily training sessions, and loves their daily play sessions even more. But Miss Kitty still has a ways to go so needs an adopter who can provide her with a safe, quiet environment and patiently earn her trust. Miss Kitty is spayed, current on vaccinations, felv/fiv negative and microchipped.

He is used to a family life but is a big player and sometimes can want to play too much for people. He'll need a new home that loves to play yet knows how to set boundaries for him when playing, so he's not over excited. He's a beautiful cat and ready for an understanding new home. A home without small children would be best for Dickens. Other cats and dogs do not seem to bother him at all. His adoption fee is $150, to help cover the medical costs of getting ready for adoption.
