Story
Meet Leela – the one-eyed captain your heart has been waiting for Every great hero has an origin story, and Leela’s is one of courage. Rescued from a severe hoarding situation where she was living in terrible conditions, this long-haired tabby has already proven she’s tougher than just about anything the universe can throw at her.Just like the fearless captain from Futurama, Leela is bold, confident, and always ready for adventure. She struts into a room like she’s charting a new galaxy, tail held high, curious about everything. Toys don’t stand a chance — she’ll leap, chase, and pounce with impressive skill and determination.Leela does have one eye that is damaged. She’ll be having surgery soon to see if it can be saved. Whatever the outcome, we know one thing for certain: this brave girl will adapt and keep leading the way. A true space commander never backs down. But here’s her secret: behind that fearless exterior is the sweetest soul. When the mission of the day is complete, Leela happily powers down into cuddle mode. She loves nothing more than curling up with her people, fluff tucked neatly around her, purring softly as she drifts off to sleep. She’s just as devoted to snuggles as she is to playtime.Leela is resilient, affectionate, and full of personality — a survivor with a captain’s heart and a cuddlebug’s soul. If you’re ready to add a little adventure (and a lot of love) to your home, this one-eyed heroine is ready to lead the way. Story
These sweet orange-and-white boys are a bonded pair looking for a patient, understanding forever home. They are very shy with people and not interested in being pet right now — but they get along wonderfully with dogs and absolutely love cuddling and playing with the resident cat in their foster home. While they may not seek out attention, they quietly share space with their foster family and will sleep on the bed at night, adding a comforting presence to the home. They adore Churu treats, which is a great way to slowly earn their trust. When it’s just them and the other pets, these brothers are playful, silly, and affectionate with each other — showing their sweet personalities in their own time. They will need a calm home and adopters who are willing to give them as much time as they need to come out of their shells. In the right home, with patience and love, they will slowly blossom and become a wonderful part of the household. If you believe that love means meeting animals where they are and giving them a lifetime of safety and care, these gentle boys might be the perfect match for you.&#226&#156&#133 Neutered&#226&#156&#133 Vaccinated&#226&#156&#133 Microchipped&#226&#156&#133 Treated for fleas and worms Interested in meeting Oatmeal and Barley? Please email: adoption@columbiahumane.org for an application.Adoption Fee: $150 EachFor more information call 503-397-4353 or email adoption@columbiahumane.orgMarch 7, 2026, 1:53 pm

Story
Meet Bora Bora is a stunning black-and-white beauty with the softest fur and the most soulful eyes. Beneath her gorgeous coat is an incredibly gentle, tender heart just waiting to feel safe again.Bora came to us from a hoarding situation, and the transition to shelter life has been overwhelming for her. The noise, activity, and constant changes have caused her to shut down. She spends much of her time tucked quietly under her blankets, trying to find a small sense of security in a big, busy world.Even though she’s scared, Bora still allows gentle pets and leans into kind hands. She has never shown anything but sweetness. It’s clear that she wants comfort — she just needs the right person to help her feel safe enough to blossom.Bora is urgently looking for a calm, quiet home with a patient and understanding adopter who will give her the time and space she needs to decompress. A low-traffic household without a lot of noise or commotion would be ideal. With consistency, love, and a peaceful environment, we truly believe Bora will come out of her shell and show her full, loving personality. If you have a soft spot for shy cats and the heart to help one heal, Bora is waiting for you. Sometimes the quietest cats have the most love to give — they just need someone to believe in them.
