Story
Large part Weimaraner, most parts love bug, my great ancestors hail from Germany– just like my fellow rescues, the Boxers! So glad they took me in. Peanut’s my name, cause I guess I kind of resemble one? Not the hard-shelled kind, of course–too much of a snuggler for that. I’m more of a boiled peanut type, soft, fun, ready to curl up beside you.  I'm around five, they tell me, and a smartypants. If this Peanut were on a grocery shelf, however, I’d be next to jam and honey—we have lots in common! I’m sweet, comforting, and love to sandwich my people. You, me, and the couch make three. I guess I’m a looker, too!  Been known to make the hearts of fellow rescue pups skip a beat. You didn’t hear it from me, but my not-so-secret admirer could barely contain himself when I sauntered past his kennel. Something about my eyes matching my coat matching my wise yet sassy self….can’t blame the fella.  Says my faithful volunteer, “Peanut’s a cuddle bug looking for a permanent rug. Peanut will see into your soul! Very into her peeps.” Oh wow, such a nice reference. It’s true. I want to know your thoughts, your dreams, and when we can lie in the grass and stare at clouds. So thankful to my foster family, and so ready to find my one and only. So glad to see you seeing about me.  Ready when you are!   Your smooth, buttery Peanut   PS Notes from Peanut’s sleepover: great overnight house guest, sleeps through the night, house trained, cuddle bug, loves toys, knows tons of obedience cues, jumps up when meeting new people (tho easily redirected), good in the car, likely best with a 6' fence (she's tall). ********PLEASE READ BELOW PRIOR TO EMAILING IN**********If you are interested in adopting this dog or any other from our rescue, please go to https://www.hobocare.org/adopt to review our home requirements and fill out an application. Story
Say Howdy to Daryl and Jessie! Their owner had to surrender them after an unexpected medical condition left him unable to care for them.  This bonded pair are only a year apart, and have been raised together since puppyhood so we really want to keep them together! He’s a little bit country and she’s a little bit rock-n-roll, but they go together like peas and carrots!  Daryl is a laid-back, handsome brindle with a sweet, calm demeanor, and gives the best dog hugs ever! The true hound that he is, he loves long walks with his nose to the ground or in the air to make sure those pesky squirrels stay up in the trees.  But don’t let him fool you, he has a funny, mischievous side as well.  If his nose can reach it, his mouth can eat it, but only when you’re not looking.   While Daryl is happy moseying along, Jessie’s ready to put the pedal to the metal.   She puts the “sass” in sassafras!   When this girl gets excited, clear the floor, ‘cause she likes to dance like no one’s watching!  This little fashionista somehow matched her eyes to her coat, she’s a real beauty!  But there’s nothing she loves more than snuggling up with you on the couch.  That is, once you move her over an inch and squeeze in beside her.  She’s not giving up her spot easily! They may be polar opposites, but they agree that they are looking for somebody with a lot of love to give…and treats(bones)…and cuddles…and belly/butt rubs and, oh yeah, a big yard would be great because, well, they’re not the best on leash, but they’re getting better!   March 9, 2026, 3:20 pm

Story
Layka is a delightful young female mixed breed  born August 27, 2021, weighing 50 pounds.  Layka a zest for life and an infectious enthusiasm that will brighten any home. Born with a naturally happy and outgoing personality, Layka thrives on adventure and loves the thrill of exploring new places. Her playful spirit and love for cuddles make her an ideal companion for families who enjoy an active lifestyle and plenty of affection. Layka is best suited for a household where she can be the only dog, allowing her to soak up all the love and attention she deserves. While she is naturally joyful and affectionate, Layka will benefit from socialization and training to help her adjust to her new environment and become the best version of herself. Our In-Home Experience with the Lovely Layka Layka is a delightful and silly girl who will undoubtedly capture your heart, one laugh at a time. From the moment she arrived at our home, her curiosity was evident—she sniffed every inch of the place and quickly decided that the couch was her favorite spot. A Day in the Life of Layka Layka's daily routine is a charming mix of relaxation and playful energy. About 75% of her day is spent as a content couch potato, while the remaining 25% is dedicated to her puppy zoomies, where she eagerly wants to play. Her play mode often involves heading to the backyard for a game of "fetch" with her Kong ball. Fetch deserves quotation marks because, more often than not, Layka ends up throwing the ball in the air herself and chasing it around like an exuberant baby kangaroo. She sprints full speed from one end of the yard to the other, taking frequent pit stops at the kitchen water dish for huge, refreshing slurps. It's essential to have a nice big bowl because Layka loves her water! After about 10-15 minutes of this energetic play, she sprints back inside, bringing her ball to the couch as a signal that she's all tuckered out. A Perfect Work-From-Home Companion I work from home, and Layka has proven to be a wonderful coworker. She spends her time in the living room, keeping an eye on passersby from the window. Every half hour or so, she trots into my office for a brief session of belly rubs and kisses before returning to her relaxing routine. Having Layka around has made my workdays much more enjoyable. Settling In and House Training Layka is house-trained, although she did have a couple of accidents during her first week with us, which we attributed to being in a new environment. She quickly learned to stand by the back door and gaze at us when she wanted to be let outside. Occasionally, she just wanted to enjoy the sunshine. When ready to come back in, she would sit politely at the door and give a short little bark to let us know. Overall, Layka has brought endless joy and laughter into our home. Her playful antics and loving demeanor have made her a beloved member of our household. By welcoming Layka into your home, you're inviting a happy and playful companion into your life. Her adventurous spirit and affectionate nature are sure to fill your days with joy and warmth. If you're ready for a lively and loving furry friend, Layka might just be the perfect match for your family! If interested please go to our website and fill out an application. Story
Meet Sheldon! Sheldon is a 9-month-old catahoula/cattle dog mix! DNA test completed and he is one cool herding/Hunting dog! Cattle dog 51% Catahoula 21% Blue Lacy 11% Coonhound 7% Ridgeback 6% Pitbull 4% Sheldon’s journey didn’t start easy. He was found abandoned in a house with another dog, severely underweight and covered in ticks. After that, he spent two long months waiting in an overcrowded shelter and was on his last 24 hours before we stepped up. Despite everything he’s been through, Sheldon has grown and learned so much with us. Sheldon is now healthy and at a proper weight, he is a medium-high energy pup who is full of personality, he loves to snuggle and is wonderful with new people. With dogs, he does best once properly introduced, can be a little reactive at first but after he gets to know a dog he’s all in for playtime! Would do best with another dog that is playful and social No cats for him Good with kids (isn't living with one but has met plenty at breweries and out and about) Exercise needs are minimum 2x40 min of exercise a day, can be through many different activities: - running, walking, or hiking - play: flirt pole, tug, fetch - training: Sheldon loves to work and learn new tricks! - scent work - train to use a treadmill indoors His highlights: - Crate trained and House trained, he lets you know when he needs to go out - Great on leash - Excellent in the car - Knows basic obedience, including a solid “middle” command - Extremely smart and highly treat-motivated. Will do anything for a treat! - Loves scent games and has fantastic potential for dog sports Check out his Instagram: savingposodogs All POSO Dogs come with: - Spayed/Netuered - Basic Shots (age appropriate) - Fecal and 4dx testing - other medical concerns addressed before adoption - 2 Free one on one dog training sessions with a professional dog trainer - Training received in foster home - Basic things like some food, treats, leash and collar - PDFs of training material and local coupons and dog sitter recommendations
