Peri is just one year old, and while she carries herself with quiet beauty, her early life was marked by hardship and mistreatment at the hands of the very people who should have protected her. And yet… she is still loving. Peri has spent the past several months working closely with a remarkable professional behaviorist, and the transformation has been incredible. She has learned that not all hands hurt, that gentle voices exist, and that safety can be real. She now approaches new people and experiences with growing curiosity, though she still carries a healthy caution. Her trust is not given away freely — it is earned — and that is exactly what makes the bond with her so profound. She is deeply affectionate and incredibly sensitive. While she resembles a Heeler in looks, she is not a bold, bossy alpha personality. Peri is a soft soul. She needs a steady, protective human who will move at her pace, celebrate her small victories, and help her continue building confidence. With patience and kindness, she blossoms. And when she chooses you as her safe place, the loyalty and love she gives back are immeasurable. Peri adores other dogs and thrives in their company. Life didn’t start easily for Rubi and her siblings. Rubi, along with her brothers Ron, Rudy, and Rufus, was abandoned overnight in a box outside the shelter. They were wet, cold, and very hungry when they were found. Thankfully, our partner rescue, SOS el Arca Animal Rescue, took them in and provided shelter, veterinary care, and lots of love. Since then, Rubi and her siblings have grown into beautiful, healthy puppies. Rubi will be 6 months old in April, which means she will be ready to travel to New York and start her new life with a loving family. She is an affectionate and playful puppy who will thrive in a home where she can continue learning, playing, and growing with her people. Rubi is expected to grow into a medium-size dog, making her a wonderful companion for many different types of homes and lifestyles. Pach is a handsome young boy about 1 year old and weighs around 35 lbs. He has a gentle, sweet personality and a calm nature that makes him a wonderful companion. Pach gets along great with other dogs and enjoys playing with his kennel mates, but he also has a soft and affectionate side and loves quiet moments with people. Pach was rescued along with his siblings and their mom from a construction site where the Mayan Train railway was being built. The dogs were being fed by kind construction workers who reached out to our partner rescue, SOS el Arca Animal Rescue. Thanks to them, Pach and his family were brought to safety where they received veterinary care, testing, shelter, and lots of love. Pach can be a little shy when he first meets new people or is in a new environment, but once he feels safe his sweet personality begins to shine. He would do best with a patient adopter who will give him time to adjust and help him build confidence. Because he loves other dogs, Pach would likely do very well in a home with another friendly dog who can be his playmate and help him continue to learn and feel secure. He is a smart and well-mannered young dog who is crate trained and walks nicely on a leash. Pach is neutered, microchipped, fully vaccinated, dewormed, and 4DX tested. He is also on flea, tick, and heartworm prevention (Simparica). At about 35 lbs, he is a great medium size for many homes and lifestyles.
