Story
There's nothing quite like the fun and silliness of a sweet young dog! These very loving young dogs are so pure and vulnerable that it's unbearable to think of them homeless and alone on city streets or in a high-kill shelter with euthanasia pending due to lack of space. Peaches, at just about 6 months old and 12 lbs (anticipated to be approximately 16 - 18 or so pounds when full-grown) was facing the end of her life before it ever began. Farfel's Texas rescuers are compassionate and loving and couldn't turn their backs on this gorgeous girl with the great temperament. They rescued Peaches just in the nick of time to spare her life. This sweet girl is suspected to be a Jack Russel mix, with possibly some Fox Terrier in there as well. She is very sweet and loves playing with other dogs. Peaches can be a tiny bit shy at first with new people, but warms up very fast (within minutes says her foster!) She loves other dogs a lot, and would love to go to a home with another dog! From Peaches' foster: "This sweet girl is so adorable and soooo sweet natured. She loves our dog and does totally great with the cat too! She constantly has a happy, wagging tail. She is super smart and is mostly going to the potty outside too! She is very special!" Peaches is appropriately playful and inquisitive for her young age. She's also so loving and cuddly. This little girl would be very excited to be a couch potato and snuggle with her favorite people at the end of a fun and active day. Peaches is also SO smart and engaging. Many would say these two breeds are among the most intelligent and engaging with their families in the dog world. Since Peaches is just a young pup, she's a blank slate just waiting for a kind and patient human to show her the way. She has all the potential in the world to be an awesome family companion. Peaches will form firm bonds with her family (as well as other dogs and humans) and learn positive socialization skills through virtual or in-person positive reinforcement training classes. This training experience will make a profound difference in a dog's behavior and their relationship with their people. It does take time and commitment yet pays off a thousand times over when you have a dog that can accompany you out in the world with excellent behavior. We feel very strongly that every dog and their family deserves the opportunity for formal, positive reinforcement training classes. We therefore aren't willing to adopt Peaches out to a home that doesn't choose to offer her this training opportunity. Farfel's is happy to provide a list of approved virtual or in-person positive reinforcement / force-free trainers in your area. We're open to Peaches finding her forever home with a retired couple or individual with lots of energy to train and enjoy a silly and super-smart pup. Peaches enjoys her relationships with all humans and dogs, we would prefer however, to place her in a home with older kids only (tail pulling or rough treatment by young kids will create an adult dog that's fearful of children). Older kids can be active participants in a training regimen and friendship that's so important in a dog's development. Peaches enjoys her relationships with other dogs as well and would love playing hard and enjoying the sunshine with a canine friend on a beautiful day. Peaches will be up to date on her vetting / vaccinations to be in line with our commitment to adopting out only healthy dogs. She has also been spayed in our quest to create a euthanasia-free future in the canine population a reality. Peaches has a stunning coat that speaks of her breed mix. Sadly, her hair is currently shelter-tired but once on a regular protocol of care, it will be gorgeous with excellent health. This sweet girl will require a lifelong commitment to periodic baths / brushing and excellent nutrition. Fresh food and a salmon oil supplement for hair care will keep Peaches healthy long into her teen years and her gorgeous, scruffy coat will be cottony-soft, shining and matte-free. Peaches is available for adoption now. Applications are currently being accepted for this beautiful, very sweet and loving best friend. An application can be found at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/. If interested, please fill out completely and submit. **PLEASE NOTE** If you're truly interested in adopting Peaches please be sure to fill out our Farfel's Rescue adoption application found at the link above or at farfels.com. Adoption site applications such as Petfinder and Adoptapet don't provide enough information and therefore aren't useful. Our Farfel's application is the only initial tool we have to determine a great match for this very deserving pup. We're sorry, but in many cases, we're unable to get back to those that don't submit our Farfel's Rescue adoption application. Thanks very much for choosing rescue.

These puppies were turned into a high-kill shelter, but a local AR rescue partner stepped up to help get Sky and her siblings safe and ready to come to Colorado. We think this litter is a mix of Labrador and Wire Hair Terrier - friendly and clever.Other Dogs | Great with other dogs!  Sky's foster home includes 2 adult dogs and she follows them around.Cats | She is young enough to do well with kitties with proper intros!  Sky's foster home includes kitties.Children | She is young enough to do well with kind, respectful kiddos.Training | In progress. Sky is so smart - she's learning fast and easily responds to redirection.  Sky is clever, active and wants to be included in alllllll the things - she is a fun puppy who will thrive with training and positive reinforcement to be someone's best doggie pal.  Sky is working on crate and potty training and it's going well. Sky is learning to keep "4 on the floor" when she is excited, but does jump on people to show her enthusiasm. Leash | Sky just recently completed her vaccinations and is going on short walks in the neighborhood to start to learn how to walk on leash.  A leash is pretty new to Sky and she follows closely with her adult foster dogs.  It's a big world and walks on leash are brand new opportunites to check things out and get in sniffs.Activity Level | Moderate/High. Typical puppy who loves to play, nap, repeat!  Loves to play in the yard, race around and chase.  Sky can settle in for a good nap on the couch once she's played out. :)Health Notes | Healthy and happy :). These minimum donations help to defer the costs of initial vet care, food, transportation to Colorado, and supplies while in foster care (that currently average over $750 per dog).Meeting Dogs | Foster dogs may have meet and greets by appointment to approved applicants only.
