Story
There's nothing quite like the fun and silliness of a sweet young dog! These very loving young dogs are so pure and vulnerable that it's unbearable to think of them homeless and alone on city streets or in a high-kill shelter with euthanasia pending due to lack of space. Peaches, at just about 6 months old and 12 lbs (anticipated to be approximately 16 - 18 or so pounds when full-grown) was facing the end of her life before it ever began. Farfel's Texas rescuers are compassionate and loving and couldn't turn their backs on this gorgeous girl with the great temperament. They rescued Peaches just in the nick of time to spare her life. This sweet girl is suspected to be a Jack Russel mix, with possibly some Fox Terrier in there as well. She is very sweet and loves playing with other dogs. Peaches can be a tiny bit shy at first with new people, but warms up very fast (within minutes says her foster!) She loves other dogs a lot, and would love to go to a home with another dog! From Peaches' foster: "This sweet girl is so adorable and soooo sweet natured. She loves our dog and does totally great with the cat too! She constantly has a happy, wagging tail. She is super smart and is mostly going to the potty outside too! She is very special!" Peaches is appropriately playful and inquisitive for her young age. She's also so loving and cuddly. This little girl would be very excited to be a couch potato and snuggle with her favorite people at the end of a fun and active day. Peaches is also SO smart and engaging. Many would say these two breeds are among the most intelligent and engaging with their families in the dog world. Since Peaches is just a young pup, she's a blank slate just waiting for a kind and patient human to show her the way. She has all the potential in the world to be an awesome family companion. Peaches will form firm bonds with her family (as well as other dogs and humans) and learn positive socialization skills through virtual or in-person positive reinforcement training classes. This training experience will make a profound difference in a dog's behavior and their relationship with their people. It does take time and commitment yet pays off a thousand times over when you have a dog that can accompany you out in the world with excellent behavior. We feel very strongly that every dog and their family deserves the opportunity for formal, positive reinforcement training classes. We therefore aren't willing to adopt Peaches out to a home that doesn't choose to offer her this training opportunity. Farfel's is happy to provide a list of approved virtual or in-person positive reinforcement / force-free trainers in your area. We're open to Peaches finding her forever home with a retired couple or individual with lots of energy to train and enjoy a silly and super-smart pup. Peaches enjoys her relationships with all humans and dogs, we would prefer however, to place her in a home with older kids only (tail pulling or rough treatment by young kids will create an adult dog that's fearful of children). Older kids can be active participants in a training regimen and friendship that's so important in a dog's development. Peaches enjoys her relationships with other dogs as well and would love playing hard and enjoying the sunshine with a canine friend on a beautiful day. Peaches will be up to date on her vetting / vaccinations to be in line with our commitment to adopting out only healthy dogs. She has also been spayed in our quest to create a euthanasia-free future in the canine population a reality. Peaches has a stunning coat that speaks of her breed mix. Sadly, her hair is currently shelter-tired but once on a regular protocol of care, it will be gorgeous with excellent health. This sweet girl will require a lifelong commitment to periodic baths / brushing and excellent nutrition. Fresh food and a salmon oil supplement for hair care will keep Peaches healthy long into her teen years and her gorgeous, scruffy coat will be cottony-soft, shining and matte-free. Peaches is available for adoption now. Applications are currently being accepted for this beautiful, very sweet and loving best friend. An application can be found at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/. If interested, please fill out completely and submit. **PLEASE NOTE** If you're truly interested in adopting Peaches please be sure to fill out our Farfel's Rescue adoption application found at the link above or at farfels.com. Adoption site applications such as Petfinder and Adoptapet don't provide enough information and therefore aren't useful. Our Farfel's application is the only initial tool we have to determine a great match for this very deserving pup. We're sorry, but in many cases, we're unable to get back to those that don't submit our Farfel's Rescue adoption application. Thanks very much for choosing rescue.

Typical puppy who loves to play, nap, repeat!Health Notes | Healthy and happy :)Thank you! | Adoption Donations | Our adoption donations are $575 for dogs 8 weeks to 1 year old, $525 for 1 - 6 years old, $475 for dogs 7 - 10 years old, and $350 for 11+ years of age. Purebred dogs regardless of age are $625. These minimum donations help to defer the costs of initial vet care, food, transportation to Colorado, and supplies while in foster care (that currently average over $750 per dog).Meeting Dogs | Foster dogs may have meet and greets by appointment to approved applicants only. To become an approved applicant - please complete the application process. We will not respond to emails about animal availability or allow meet and greets without an approved adoption application on file. Please Note | Available dogs are updated as soon as possible and we do our best to keep it up-to-date, but occasionally dogs shown may become unavailable without notice due to a pending adoption. We can not guarantee that a dog you wish to adopt is available by the time your adoption application is submitted, processed, and approved.  Your application is good for one year from the date of applying for any dog as long as it is a good fit for your family and your lifestyle. We encourage you to put in an application even if you don't see your new family member currently, as once you are approved, we can place you on the waiting list for first priority on the selection of the dogs we do bring in. That means you can often meet a dog upon transport arrival and adopt before they even make it to this page!May 28, 2026, 1:55 am

Story
Meet Oreo Female DOB: September 27, 2025 Weight: 18 pounds current (small medium) Breed: Jack Russell Terrier Mix Spayed (Fixed): Pending Vaccinated (1 DHPP/Sextuple vaccine + Rabies vaccine current) Microchipped Healthy & Adoption-Ready Personality, Breed Info & Expectations Oreo is a sweet young girl with playful Terrier charm and a loving, happy personality. At only 8 months old, she is still very much a puppy — curious, energetic, affectionate, and continuing to learn about the world around her every day. She enjoys companionship, playtime, and interaction with both people and other dogs. Oreo gets along well with other pups and would thrive in a home where she can continue socializing, learning, and being included in everyday family life. As a Jack Russell Terrier mix, Oreo may show traits such as: Intelligence and curiosity Playful, energetic personality Strong emotional bonds with her people Alertness and engagement A need for exercise and mental stimulation Jack Russell Terrier mixes are often loving, entertaining companions full of personality, but they also require structure, consistency, exercise, and continued training to help them mature into balanced adult dogs. Oreo would thrive in a home prepared for: Daily walks and exercise Ongoing puppy training and supervision Positive socialization and engagement Mental stimulation and enrichment Structure, consistency, and routine A lifelong commitment to her emotional and physical well-being Young dogs require significant time, patience, training, supervision, and financial commitment as they continue growing and developing. Training, Adjustment & What to Expect Many rescue puppies and young dogs come from uncertain beginnings and may not have had structure, socialization, or training before arriving at rescue. Even at 8 months old, Oreo is still learning and developing emotionally and socially. Young dogs are not automatically trained simply because they are older puppies. The rescue environment itself also does not always allow for extensive one-on-one training. While we work hard to provide safety, structure, and socialization, adopters should expect to continue training and guidance after adoption. Adopting a young dog means being prepared for: Potty training reinforcement and accidents Teething and chewing behaviors Leash training and obedience work Jumping and playful puppy behavior Continued socialization and confidence-building Daily exercise, structure, and supervision Routine veterinary care and vaccine boosters Financial commitment throughout the dog’s lifetime Oreo will benefit from: Positive reinforcement training Daily structure and routine Continued socialization and exposure Exercise and mental stimulation Patience, consistency, and supervision Please remember the 3-3-3 Rule: 3 days to decompress 3 weeks to learn your routine 3 months to fully feel at home With patience, guidance, and commitment, dogs like Oreo blossom into deeply loyal lifelong companions. Owner Responsibilities & Veterinary Care Owning a dog is a lifelong commitment that includes training, daily exercise, companionship, routine veterinary care, financial responsibility, and emotional commitment throughout every stage of life. Oreo will need: Daily walks, exercise, and interaction Continued training and guidance Routine veterinary visits and future vaccine boosters Preventative care including flea, tick, and heartworm prevention Proper nutrition and weight management Mental stimulation and enrichment A safe, stable, indoor living environment Because Oreo is still a young dog, consistency and structure are especially important in helping her mature into a confident and well-balanced adult dog. Oreo is an indoor family dog and is not to be chained or left outside. She is loving, social, and eager to bond with her people. As a Jack Russell Terrier mix, Lavern may show traits such as intelligence, curiosity, athleticism, and playful energy. Lavern would thrive in a home that can provide: Daily walks and activity Mental stimulation and interaction Structure and consistency Companionship and inclusion as part of the family She would make a wonderful companion for someone looking for a loving, energetic, and engaging dog with lots of personality. Training, Adjustment & What to Expect Many rescue dogs come from very different backgrounds. Some may have previously lived in homes, while others may have come from the streets, overcrowded shelters, neglect situations, or environments where they had little structure or guidance. Because of this, most rescue dogs arrive with only basic training at best, and some may have had no formal training at all. Even dogs who appear well-behaved in foster care or at the rescue are still adjusting and learning. The rescue environment itself also does not always allow for extensive one-on-one training. While we work hard to provide safety, structure, socialization, and basic guidance, adopters should be prepared to continue training and support after adoption. Lavern will benefit from: Positive reinforcement training Structure and consistency Continued socialization and engagement Mental stimulation and routine Patience during adjustment periods Please remember the 3-3-3 Rule: 3 days to decompress 3 weeks to learn your routine 3 months to fully feel at home With patience, stability, and commitment, rescue dogs often blossom into deeply loyal lifelong companions. Owner Responsibilities & Veterinary Care Owning a dog is a lifelong commitment that includes daily exercise, companionship, routine veterinary care, training, mental stimulation, and financial responsibility. Lavern will need: Daily walks, exercise, and interaction Continued training and engagement Routine wellness exams and preventative veterinary care A safe, stable, indoor living environment Consistent veterinary care, proper nutrition, preventative care, and emotional stability are all essential to helping her live a healthy and happy life.
