Story
Maggie is 3-4 year old Terrier/Chihuahua/Poodle mix weighing about 15lbs.  Maggie came to us over a year ago from a hoarding case where there were over 60 Chihuahua/Poodle mixes living in a small home in Denver.  They were all incredibly under socialized and neglected, with most of the females being pregnant.  We were able to take in 5 of the pregnant moms from Maxfund to help get them into a safe and comfortable place to give birth and raise their puppies.  We also took about 8 other dogs from the hoarding case to start them socializing and learning how to "dog".  Maggie is now the last dog from the hoarding case and needs her forever family.  Maggie has clearly been through a lot and still has a long way to come.  She is a sweet girl but still pretty timid around humans.  She will come and snuggle with her foster Momma on her terms but it did take an incredibly long time for that to happen.  Maggie really needs a human who can be patient with her and give her a forever home with lots of love knowing she came from an incredibly rough situation and will probaly never be a completely "normal" dog. Her fosters describe her as more of a cat-dog.  We know she could make more progress with some training as well.  We will require she goes to a home with another dog so she can continue to learn how to trust and be a dog. Story
Teddy is a 5MO, 7lb Terrier mix.  He is the cutest little scruffy, scraggly, snuggly little guy.  We are guessing Loki will be about 12-15lbs when full grown.  We don't know their actual breeds, but they do NOT seem like they are going to be 100% nonshedding or hypoallergenic. They will most likely be lower-shedding though! Teddy and his brother were dumped at a shelter in Mexico.  The shelter reached out to one of our rescue partners here in the states in hopes we could take them and find them wonderful homes here in CO.  Teddy and his brother made their way to CO a little while ago and are healthy, happy, well socialized, and ready to find their forever families!   Teddy and his brother are both playful, smart, confident and loving.  They get along with other dogs, kids, and humans.  They would each do well in a home with another dog to play with or someone who has time to train, socialize, and exercise a puppy.  These two pups are on their way to be amazing pups! Story
Putzi is a 4MO adorably scruffy Terrier mix weighing about 11lbs.  We are guessing he will be about 15-25lbs when full grown. Putzi came from Texas, where he was dumped on the streets with his siblings.  They were all terrified, and just trying to survive.  Thanks to our wonderful rescue partners, she was able to get them all to safely until we could transport them here to CO.  Putzi love to follow his foster momma around the house and play with his other four-legged foster siblings.  He is curious, affectionate, and oh so sweet.  Putzi seems to learn quick and is well socialized despite everything he's been through.  He is such a great little pup and will make a wonderful addition to any family who has the time and love to give a forever new family member. Story
There's nothing quite like puppy sweetness and silliness...and then they put their beautiful heads quietly on your shoulder breathing their warm breath. These gorgeous puppies are so pure and vulnerable (with their whole lives lying in front of them) that it's unbearable to think of them homeless and alone or in a high-kill shelter scheduled for euthanasia due to a lack of space. Leo is a stunning 6 month old, 16 lb Jack Russel mix that is just waiting to be the love of a special family's life. Leo is anticipated to be approximately 25-30 lbs, but very difficult to say with certainty. Leo is starting out with great energy. While initially a bit shy, this sweet puppy is blossoming in his foster home as he learns about living in a safe and nurturing environment with love and kindness . Now at 6 months old, Leo's self esteem is growing each day as he learns that he's a very valuable guy that has so much to offer a dog-loving family. Leo is appropriately playful and inquisitive for his young age. He's also so loving and cuddly once he's comfortable in his environment. This snuggly little guy would be very excited to be a couch potato and snuggle with his favorite people at the end of an active day. Even at just 6 months old, it's clear that this pup is SO smart and very sweet - very typical of the Jack Russell personality. Since Leo is just a puppy, he's a blank slate just waiting for a kind and patient human to show him the way. He has all the potential in the world to be an awesome adult companion - Leo will form firm bonds with his family and learn positive socialization skills through virtual or in-person positive reinforcement training classes. These classes will make a profound difference in a puppy's ultimate behavior and in his relationship / bonding with his people. It does take time and commitment yet pays off a thousand times over when you have a dog that can accompany you out in the world with excellent behavior. Farfel's Rescue feels very strongly that every dog deserves the opportunity for formal, positive reinforcement/force-free training classes. We therefore aren't willing to adopt Leo out to a home that doesn't choose to offer him this training opportunity. Farfel's is happy to provide a list of approved virtual and in-person positive reinforcement / force-free trainers in your area. We're open to Leo finding his forever home with a retired couple or individual with lots of energy to train and enjoy a silly and super-smart puppy. A younger family that works from a home-based office would also be a great choice for a dog that would love nothing more than getting loved up periodically throughout the day. Leo enjoys his relationships with all humans and dogs. We would prefer, however, to place him in a home with older kids (tail pulling or rough treatment will create an adult dog that's fearful of children). Older kids can also be active participants in a training regimen and friendship that's so important in a dog's development. Leo will be up to date on his vetting/vaccinations to be in line with our commitment to only adopting out healthy dogs. He will also be neutered to support our hopes for a euthanasia - free future due to overpopulation in the canine population. Applications are currently being accepted for this stunning and sweet as can be puppy who is learning about love and acceptance in his life. An adoption application can be found at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/. If interested, please fill out completely and submit. **PLEASE NOTE** If you're truly interested in adopting Leo, please be sure to fill out our Farfel's Rescue adoption application found at the link above or at farfels.com. Adoption site applications such as Petfinder and Adoptapet don't provide enough information and therefore aren't useful. Our Farfel's application is the only initial tool that we have to determine a great match for this very deserving dog. We're sorry, but in many cases, we're unable to get back to those that don't submit our Farfel's Rescue adoption application. Thanks very much for choosing rescue.

Hello! I am Julio. I am a mixed Terrier breed dog and under a year old. I am new in this world, but I am ready for my forever home. Story
Teddy is the definition of a lovable little companion. This 12 pound, snaggle-toothed sweetheart is happiest curled up at home, preferably right in your lap soaking up all the snuggles and affection he can get. With his silly personality, adorable army crawls, and gentle kisses, Teddy has a way of making everyone around him smile.Teddy is already potty trained, sleeps through the night like a champ, and settles nicely in his crate after a brief little protest. He’s respectful in the home and doesn’t chew on things he shouldn’t. He has a growing interest in stuffies and will carry them around proudly. He gets along well with the other dog in the house. On walks, Teddy is friendly with passing dogs and absolutely fascinated by squirrels and birds. He has the cutest little prance in the park and brings so much joy to everyday outings. Sometimes all the exciting critters can be a bit overwhelming, but Teddy responds wonderfully to praise and is very food motivated, making training both fun and rewarding. He has mastered "sit."  We are working on "come" and "wait."Teddy can be a little shy when meeting new people and appreciates slow, gentle introductions. He is never, ever aggressive--he just ducks his head or backs away when he is not ready to be greeted. Once he feels safe, he warms up quickly and shows off his sweet, affectionate nature. His interactions with children have been positive as long as they move calmly and respectfully around him. Each day Teddy becomes a little braver, a little more social, and even more ready to find the forever family who will cherish his loving heart and quirky charm. ##2722719##

Story
Meet Ziggy! Previously named Bixby, now Ziggy, is a handsome, 4 year old, 27 lb Rat Terrier / Cattle Dog mix who has been through more in his life than any dog should. Ziggy was found as a stray and brought into a horrible, high-kill shelter in Houston TX. He was adopted locally, and then months later ended up back in the shelter as a stray again. When they called the man who adopted him from them just months ago, they got no answer and no call back. Ziggy’s past has clearly been unstable. We rescued Ziggy and brought him to Colorado with the hope of finally giving him the stable, loving home he has always deserved...and for a while, we truly thought we had found that for him. Unfortunately, just four months after his adoption, Ziggy is being returned due to a newly discovered allergy within the household. Our hearts break for Ziggy to have to go through this transition again, but he is back with our rescue and once more searching for the forever home he has been waiting for. From Ziggy's foster: * * * * "Ziggy really is a very good boy. He can be a bit shy at first with new people. But once he settles in, his personality really starts to shine. In a home environment, he is very affectionate, funny, and incredibly sweet. He loves cozy spots (especially the couch and bed!), enjoys watching the world from the window, and lives for his time outside in the yard, zooming around, playing with my dog, sunbathing, and chasing squirrels along the fence line. He’s a smart boy who already knows commands like “sit” and even how to catch treats mid-air. Ziggy has shown that he can be friendly and playful with other dogs in the right setting. Off leash and in a home environment, he has done well and even thrived — he was wonderful with a tiny puppy foster we had, and loves my dog. Ziggy just does not do well meeting other dogs while leashed, so he will need an adopter who understands leash management and can advocate for his space on walks. Because he does enjoy other dogs in a more natural setting, we do feel he would do best in a home with another friendly dog to help him feel more secure. Since neighborhood walks aren't ideal for Ziggy, he would be best going to a home with a big yard for him to play, exercise, and potty in. Because Ziggy has experienced so much instability and change in his life, he will cry or howl when left alone. Luckily though, he is not destructive in any way. Ziggy can be trusted loose in the home when left alone, has never chewed or damaged anything, and does settle with time. Due to his vocalizing when left alone, an apartment or shared-wall living situation would not be the best fit for Ziggy. Ziggy will thrive in a calm home with someone retired, or who is a homebody. He himself is much more of a homebody who bonds deeply with his people and prefers a predictable routine. Oh and he is totally, 100% potty trained!" * * * * Ziggy is in great health and is vaccinated, neutered, and heartworm tested. He is blind in just one eye due to what appears to be an old corneal scar, but it does not cause him pain and he navigates the world just fine with his good eye. Ziggy’s story hasn’t been easy, but his potential is huge. With the right person - someone patient, loving, dog-savvy, and committed to giving him the time, structure, and love he needs - Ziggy will thrive, and deeply bond with you. He doesn’t need perfection—he just needs someone who won’t give up on him. Farfel's Rescue would like to see Ziggy in a home with someone committed to training. A virtual or in-person positive reinforcement group training class promotes great behavior, bonding and confidence for a sweet pup whose self-esteem will fly high while he masters his skills. Training is so important in the future behaviors of every dog. It's for this reason that we're unwilling to adopt Ziggy out to a family that doesn't make this loving choice. Farfel's is happy to provide a list of both in-person and virtual positive reinforcement / force- free trainers in your area. Ziggy is available for adoption now! Applications are currently being accepted for this very sweet, loving and loyal best friend. An application can be found at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/. If interested, please fill out completely and submit. **PLEASE NOTE** If you're truly interested in adopting Ziggy please be sure to fill out our Farfel's Rescue adoption application found at the link above or at farfels.com. Adoption site applications such as Petfinder and Adoptapet don't provide enough information and therefore aren't useful. Our Farfel's application is the only initial tool that we have to determine a great match for this very deserving dog.
