Story
Meet Cotton! He’s a sweet, snuggly boy who’s doing great at the rescue! He was found stray and we pulled him from a kill shelter. He’s great with other dogs and all people. He’s a scruffy little terrier mix, about 1 year old and 15 pounds. He’s a really good little guy who just loves attention.IMPORTANT: Please read all below, especially if you live outside of Texas, which is where our rescue is located.Apply to adopt on our website: https://www.charmingpetrescue.org/adoptAll of our animals are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and up to date on shots.ALL of our animals are located in Boerne, TX, but transport after adoption is available to other states for a $300 fee for dogs or an additional fee varying by location for cats. If you are seeing our pets posted in your state, that's because you live near a transport stop, they are not currently at that location. Petfinder lists our pets as 'Out of Town' pets at other locations, and Adopt-a-Pet lists our location as a Transport stop. Those are currently the only options they offer to make this clear, so we put this description we've put at the bottom to explain it. You can read more about transport here: www.charmingpetrescue.org/transportWe understand transport is not an option for everyone, but we offer it at the cost we pay the transport company for those who wish to adopt from us.May 2, 2024, 6:34 am

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.  Hi I'm Nan!  Are you ready for an adorable little lady who's always happy, friendly and sassy?  You've found me!  I'm always smiling and my tail is constantly wagging and on the alert. I adore scratches and hugs and being told I'm a good girl.  I do well with my doggie friends, but I like to be the boss.  Someone needs to be the leader right?!  I don't see eye to eye with other alpha dogs, but aside from that, I love all the doggie friends I've met.  I have not met any cats yet, so we'd need to do a meet if you have any!  When I'm not doing zoomies and playing with toys or chewing bones I enjoy a good cuddle with my people.  I'd love to find a family who will take me on walks and let me explore the world.  There's so much to see and sniff!  I'm doing great with kennel, potty and leash training.  With you by my side I know I'll master then fast.  I can't wait to meet you and we can walk away into the sunset together forever! Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders. Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Each dog receives basic grooming when coming into rescue, but for some dogs they have not received grooming attention until recently and grooming may be required shortly after adoption. This will be at the adopter’s expense, so we encourage you to research the breed and be prepared for grooming expenses. Underdog cannot guarantee hypoallergenic or non-shedding qualities of any dogs in our rescue. Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. In turn, they require another companion dog and/or a fenced in yard in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog whose bio states those needs and do not currently have them, please understand that your home might not be the right fit. Please use the filter on our Adoptable Dogs page to find the perfect match for your home.   ***Be sure to check your spam/junk folder as sometimes our emails end up there*** Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.If you have other questions about me you can email Underdog Rescue at <inquiries@underdogrescuemn.com> ADOPTION EVENTS:      Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. If an event is not listed within their bio above, the animal is not planning to attend.  Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. We recommend filling out an application and we will set up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved. ADOPTION PROCEDURE: The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website: http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/adoptionprocess/   Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.  All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/contact-us/ if you have further questions. FOSTER CARE: All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption, but each bio is written by the foster as they see them, in their home. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality, but it cannot be guaranteed. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves in time and with patience.  If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website  www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications  and fill out a foster application. NUTRITION: Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets.  All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet.  All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal. YOU CAN HELP: Not able to foster or adopt right now? Please consider sponsoring an Underdog. Your donation will help us buy dog food and pay for medical costs. Visit this link  www.underdogrescuemn.com/donate   to donate.  (Please note: A Paypal account is not necessary to use Paypal. When you get to the Paypal page, just use the link to the left of their login to make your donation via Paypal without an account.) May 2, 2024, 12:41 am

Hi! I'm Billie! I'm from Missouri! From her foster: Billie is a very sweet girl! She has been super shill since joining my home and is learning how to be a 'house dog" She loves treats, running around the backyard and chasing squirrels! Billie is a solid napper who loves a good scratch and pet session. She has not been very vocal but has a keen sense of curiosity. We are on a schedule so her potty training is going well but not perfect! She is starting to learn basic commands as well. Crate training for 5 hours / day. And we are leash walking almost everyday! Billie does have a cleft lip - which doesn't impact her, nor is it something that needs correction. And it certainly doesn't impact how cute she is!

Story
Hi! I'm Hershey! I'm from Alabama! From his foster: Hershey is a friendly little dude that's a mix of puppy shenanigans, and rolly polly puppy. Hershey adores humans, and follows foster mom around the house. He's happy to meet new people when he goes on walks and doesn't show any fear of new people. He's doing great with kennel training and keeps his kennel clean all night. Hershey lays near foster mom while she's working from home during the day, and is good about not barking or chewing on things he shouldn't most times. He's easily re-directed with a chew toy if he does put his mouth on something he shouldn't. He's learned to sit when he comes inside from going potty so that he can have a treat. Good puppy. Hershey loves to play chase and keep away with the other dogs in his foster home, and will also play alone with chew toys. There aren't any cats in his foster home, so, it's unknown how he is with cats. Hershey is learning to not put his mouth/teeth on human hands. He's easily re-directed with a chew toy when he does this along with a verbal correction. This adorable scruffy pup is ready for his forever person to teach him everything a young pup needs to learn, and provide him with unlimited belly rubs.

These pups are in Brooklyn Center, Minnesota too!

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. //   Find our applications at www.midwestanimalrescue.orgAdoption Fee $250 plus tax Meet Melo with the wagging tail that never seems to stop.  Melo is a playful dog who loves to run, play and explore. He is incredibly friendly and affectionate with people. He loves to look out the window and watch TV. Although he can get pretty excited when he spots a squirrel or his favorite team scores. He is reliably housetrained and enjoy’s sleeping in bed with you or in his kennel. Melo would do well in a home with a yard where he can run and play. Melo does best with slower intros to other dogs who are also willing to engage in some playtime shenanigans. Kids are great but he will want to play with them and may jump up on or knock them over in excitement. We do not know how Melo is with cats.  **Melo has a condition called hypoadrenocorticism (Addison's disease) which is when the adrenal glands do not function properly. The adrenal glands produce numerous important hormones that help to regulate the body. With Addison's disease the adrenal glands do not make enough hormone to properly regulate the body so supplementation is necessary. There is no cure for Addison's disease but it can be well managed with twice daily oral medication and a monthly injection. Recheck bloodwork every 6-12 months will also be required to make sure he remains on the correct medication dose. Cost for the medication is about $50-60 per month. When well-managed with medication Melo can still live a happy and healthy life with a normal expected lifespan. *Melo has had only one crisis and that was when he was first diagnosed. He has had no signs of sickness since being on his meds.***       Please feel free to fill out an ADOPTION APPLICATION by clicking on the button below. Thank You!       Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.  or    *The pet you are viewing is a rescued pet which is most often from an animal control facility and does not come with a pedigree. The breed(s) listed are our best guess and are in no way guaranteed. Sometimes the pets appear to be a particular breed(s) in the pictures we receive from our rescue partners and when they arrive we are surprised to see an entirely different breed(s) in person!  If you choose to DNA test your adopted pet, test results may vary from company to company and our breed guess may not be reflected in those results as it is just that, our best guess. It is with deep longing that we wish there was a breed called 'cute' as we believe all of our dogs would fall under this new breed classification! Completion of an Adoption Application via our website www.midwestanimalrescue.org is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is the first step in our adoption process.  *Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption. When you adopt a pet from Midwest Animal Rescue and Services, your adoption fee covers: Microchip and registration, Core Vaccines including Rabies, Distemper and bordetella, age appropriate heartworm testing or FeLV-FIV testing, sterilization, heartworm/flea-tick prevention and deworming while in foster care.  Adoption fees are non-negotiable and can be paid by cashier's check, money order or credit card. We do not accept personal checks. Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance.   //
