Location: Ramsey, MN Meet this sweet, sun-loving girl! At around 1-year-old, she’s the perfect mix of gentle companion and professional couch snuggler. She can be a little shy when meeting new people and situations, but give her a little time and patience and she’ll happily soak up all the attention you’re willing to give. Her favorite hobbies include lounging in the sunshine, exploring the yard with her nose, and curling up beside you for marathon cuddle sessions. She walks beautifully on a leash and enjoys stopping to investigate all the interesting smells along the way. She’s been around young children (ages 1, 3, and 6 years) and has been calm and respectful, and she’s shown the same easygoing attitude when passing other dogs on walks. She prefers to carefully evaluate new things before diving in. Doorways, thresholds, and kennels can seem suspicious at first, but once she realizes they aren’t plotting against her, she moves through them just fine with a little guidance. She may sing a short “please don’t leave me” song when first settling into her kennel, but she quickly quiets down and relaxes. She’s been a wonderful house guest so far with no accidents and no interest in redecorating the house by chewing belongings. Her recall is still a work in progress, so she’s not quite ready for an off-leash adventure career, but she’s eager to learn. Welcome Leader to CCPAL Rescue. Leader is a Cairn Terrier Mix. He is friendly with other dogs and came in with 2 other dogs. He came in with a pregnant momma dog and a male dog named Arty. Arty and Leader have play time and are kenneled together at the Rescue. Leader is 26 pounds and is about 2 years old. His teeth look clean so he won’t need a dental anytime soon. His coat wasn’t as pretty as it is now that he has been in the Rescue a couple of weeks. He is getting lots of daily attention and good nutrition. He is getting his DHPP vaccines and will get Rabies when neutered. He would be fine in a home with a moderately active family. He is sturdy enough to be a good walking companion. He will need brushing and maybe some grooming to have the tip top coat. He isn’t a big shedding dog. He is vocal but not over the top. I would call him an alert dog bark. He will alert you that something is different or someone different is here. He settles down nicely and is also able to be relaxed and chill. He would be able to go with children. We like them to be 8 or older. He is social and very happy. He is independent and not too clingy. He isn’t used to constant touching and attention and is fine relaxing by you and watching what you are doing. We would love this boy to have his very own forever home where he can get daily attention, walks and everything a loved dog gets. He was from an overcrowded situation….maybe a City Removal type case. He is currently in Texas and can be adopted locally or we can work with one of the wonderful transporters to get him to Washington, Portland, Minnesota, Vermont or all along the East Coast. This handsome Rat Terrier is loving, loyal, playful, and full of life. He forms strong bonds with his people and quickly becomes a devoted companion. In true “velcro dog” fashion, Grizzly loves to be wherever you are and will happily follow you from room to room throughout the day. His favorite place to be? Curled up right on your lap or being carried around like a baby. Grizzly is a happy, energetic little guy who thrives on companionship and loves being with his people. He would do best in a home where someone is around much of the time, as that is when he is happiest. While he enjoys playing and wrestling with other dogs, he does not require a canine companion as long as his humans are home often enough to provide him with attention and companionship. For a small dog, Grizzly has an impressive amount of energy and stamina. He loves going for walks, running, exploring new places, and spending time outdoors. He does pull on leash a bit when excited, but because of his small size, it’s very manageable. In fact, his foster family enjoys his brisk pace. Grizzly is unique in that he is easy to travel with like a small dog but has the enthusiasm and endurance of a much larger adventure companion. An active adopter would love having him along for walks, hikes, or runs. Despite his rescue background, Grizzly is a confident and brave little dog. He may take anywhere from a few hours to a few days to fully warm up to new people, but once he does, he becomes incredibly affectionate and loving. He will bark when someone knocks on the door, when a new visitor enters the home, or occasionally when a strange dog makes him nervous on a walk, but otherwise he is a very good boy. Once he settles into a new environment and learns the routine, he is eager to please and will likely be easy to train thanks to his strong food motivation. Food is one of Grizzly’s greatest joys in life. Meal time is easily his favorite part of the day, and he greets every meal with unmatched excitement. He bounces, wiggles, and celebrates before devouring his food with enthusiasm. Treats and positive reinforcement are sure to go a long way with this smart little guy. Grizzly already knows several commands, including sit, come, wait, and go potty. He enjoys chewing on bones and toys, running around the yard, wrestling with dog friends, and relaxing near his people when playtime is over. While he loves adventure, he is also content to settle onto a nearby dog bed if you’re busy. He is an excellent travel companion and absolutely loves car rides. Most trips end with him curled up and fast asleep before you reach your destination. Like many dogs adjusting to a new life, Grizzly still has a few things he’s working on. He prefers company and isn’t a fan of being crated at night, though he has improved significantly and settles much more quickly now. He keeps his kennel clean and will even choose to nap in it during the day. He has occasionally shown interest in bathroom trash, so some supervision and management may be helpful while he settles into a new home. More than anything, Grizzly wants someone to love.
