Please contact Destiny Sibert (DestinyS@luckydoganimalrescue.org) for more information about this pet.sweet scruffy girl ISO fresh start and love! JACKIE NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!! Name: Jackie Best Guess for Breed: Wire haired terrier mix Best Guess for Age: 4.5 years as of January 2026 SEX: Female Approximate Weight: 43 lbs Gets Along With: Other dogs! We haven't seen her with cats or kids but we are happy to discuss integration techniques with any potential adopters! Currently Living at: DC area foster home Watch this video of Jackie coming to say hi! Meet Jackie – a happy, smart, and affectionate pup with a face you won’t be able to resist Jackie is the total package: sweet with people, friendly with other dogs, and wonderfully well-mannered in the home. She hasn’t had a single accident in the house. Jackie has a fun, playful side and loves games like fetch and tug. She’s definitely a higher-energy girl who will thrive with regular exercise and playtime, but she also has a great off-switch—she can settle down and nap calmly when left alone. Around the house, she’s quiet and easygoing, rarely barking (unless a squirrel makes an appearance!). She’s also a smart cookie who’s eager to learn. Jackie already knows “sit,” responds to her name, and takes gentle feedback really well—she’s been quick to understand what not to chew and would likely excel with continued training. She’s already made great progress on leash, improving her initial pulling with consistency, and she handles busy, city environments with confidence. Other highlights: Crate trained and comfortable relaxing in her space Dog-friendly and enjoys social time with other pups Responsive and trainable with a great foundation to build on Jackie would love a home that can match her energy with walks, play, and engagement—while also appreciating her affectionate, easygoing nature once the day winds down. If you’re looking for a smart, loving, and playful companion who’s ready to keep learning and growing with you, Jackie might just be your perfect match. What My Foster Says About Me: Jackie is very sweet and friendly to people and dogs. She has not had an accident in the house. She is very good in the crate and enjoys playing fetch and tug. She is a higher energy dog, but is well balanced -she is able to settle and nap when left alone. She rarely barks (only at squirrels). She takes feedback on what not to chew very well, and seems like she could be trained further very easily. She is very smart! Heartworm information: Jackie is a truly Lucky Dog. She tested positive for heartworms, but has been treated! Heartworm is not contagious to people or other pets, but results from mosquito bites. Heartworm, if left untreated, is life threatening, but after treatment, dogs that were heartworm positive should suffer no significant long-term effects so long as they are kept on a monthly heartworm preventative. Heartworm dogs can resume full active and normal lives, but need to be kept calm for 4-6 weeks after treatment. Jackie has completed this activity restriction period. Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken. All of our dogs are working on their crate training. TO ADOPT: The adoption fee for this dog is $475, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations, spay/neuter, and heartworm treatment.
