Story
Please contact Diane Pedulla (dianep@luckydoganimalrescue.org) for more information about this pet.awesome little girl ISO new home! MACEY NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!! Name:   Macey        Best Guess for Breed:  Wire haired terrier mix  Best Guess for Age:   12.5 years as of May 2026         SEX:  Female   Approximate Weight: 15.6 lbs as of 5/9/26 - needs to lose at least two more pounds   Gets Along With:  Other dogs! We haven't seen her with cats or kids but we are happy to discuss integration techniques with any potential adopters!   Currently Living at:   DC area foster home   All about Macey: Macey was incredibly loved by her owner, who unfortunately passed away.    She is now twelve and a half years old, but you wouldn't know it by the way she trots on walks! She also lost one eye due to infection (before she landed in the shelter) but she's unfazed by it. And she is just the best little pup. Here's what her foster says about her:   'I can't say enough about what a great dog Macey is! Fantastic with other dogs! She greeted my 8-, 19, and 48-lb resident dogs in a happy, friendly, and polite way. She loves being around the other dogs and watches them play (the oldest of them is less than half her age) but doesn't join in. Great on leash! She is at her best when it's nice and cool out (about 60 or below) and trots fast, her tail waving happily, when she's in a pack with one, two, or three other dogs. On solo walks she'll alternate between deep, thorough sniffing and happy trotting. Nothing about her walks tells me she is 12 years old! Very well behaved in the home. She goes into her crate when I simply point at the door, and is quiet in there. She sleeps there overnight and sometimes just hangs out there by herself during the day with the door open. I've left her out of the crate when I was out for an hour or two and she did great - she just chilled on the floor.  Incredibly sweet and loving. She wants to be at my feet when I work and right by my side when I'm taking a break on the sofa. I have many dogs competing for my attention and she isn't pushy - she waits her turn and is oh so happy when she gets my attention.  She has a preference for cooler spots on the floor and cooler temperatures - sunbathing isn't really her thing. As a senior with a rounder frame, Macey needs help getting up onto the sofa, into the car, and up flights of steps. Macey will do best with someone who can lift her when necessary while also allowing her to walk so she can continue working on reaching a healthier weight.  Macey is a wonderful pup with so much life in her and so much love to give. She deserves all the best - and her forever family will be getting the best too!' Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken.  All of our dogs are working on their crate training.  TO ADOPT: The adoption fee for this dog is $375, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations and spay/neuter. Story
Current Location: Westminster,Md Meet Oreo. This scruffy black and white cutie is about three years old and truly lives up to his name as a perfectly balanced mix of fun and sweetness. He is that just right size dog who fits beautifully into everyday life while still bringing big personality and joy. Oreo is a happy, energetic boy who loves to play. Give him a ball and he is ready for a game of fetch anytime. He enjoys running around, tossing toys, and making his own fun, especially when he has a dog friend to join in. He quickly bonded with his foster family’s dog and shows how social and easygoing he is with other pups. He is also wonderfully people focused. Oreo has been friendly with everyone he has met and settles in quickly with his family. He enjoys being part of the action, whether that means playtime in the yard or simply hanging out nearby. Oreo is off to a great start with his manners. He walks well on leash and enjoys getting out for fresh air and adventure. He rides well in the car, making him an easy companion for errands or weekend outings. He knows sit, especially when a treat is involved, and is eager to keep learning. He is crate trained and sleeps well through the night, and he has been doing great with going outside for all his bathroom needs. With his playful energy and affectionate nature, Oreo would thrive in a home that can give him regular activity and engagement. He has a lot of love to give and will reward his people with loyalty, fun, and constant companionship. If you are looking for a friendly, active, and adorable dog who will keep you smiling and moving, Oreo is ready to be your new best friend.

Story
Current Location: Ijamsville, MD Meet Macaroni: The Shy Little Collector 🧸 If you have a quiet home, a playful dog, and a heart full of patience, Macaroni might just be your perfect match. Macaroni is a beautiful black wire-haired Terrier mix with a soul that is slowly learning how to shine. Coming from a difficult hoarding situation, the world can still feel a bit overwhelming for her. She is very shy and cautious when meeting new people, but for the right person, the reward of her trust is worth every second of the wait. Her Personality: Once Macaroni feels safe and opens up, her true "silly girl" side comes out! She’s a quirky, sweet pup who has a hilarious habit of collecting random objects—she loves to keep her favorite "things" close for safekeeping. What Macaroni Needs: - A Canine Guide: Macaroni must have a confident dog sibling in her forever home. She finds her courage by watching other dogs and needs a buddy to show her that life isn't so scary. Need a built-in buddy for Macaroni? Check out her adoptable foster brother, Jaxi, in the link below! https://new.shelterluv.com/embed/animal/OPFH-A-46911 - A Secure Yard: Because she finds the leash quite intimidating, a fenced-in yard is a must. She loves to explore and play at her own pace in a secure space. - Patience & Understanding: Her new family will need to take things slow. She isn’t a "love at first sight" kind of girl, but rather a "love that grows deeper every day" kind of girl. - A Quiet Environment: A calm household without too much hustle and bustle will help her feel most at ease. Macaroni has come a long way, and she’s looking for a special adopter who sees the brave dog she is becoming. Are you ready to show Macaroni what a "happily ever after" feels like?

Story
Current Location: Seven Valleys, PA Meet Dexter. This sweet, calm, and quietly charming guy is the kind of dog who makes life feel easy. From the moment he arrived, he began settling into foster life like a pro, quickly learning the rhythms of a home and showing just how adaptable he is. Dexter is wonderfully relaxed and easygoing. He walks beautifully on leash without pulling, rides through his day with a calm presence, and is one of the quietest dogs around. He is crate trained and settles in without a peep, happily curling up, especially if there is a soft blanket involved. In fact, he has a bit of a love affair with cozy blankets and will gladly claim one as his favorite spot. He gets along well with other dogs and would do best as an only male or in a home with a female dog. He is also great with cats and simply ignores them, making him an easy fit for a multi pet household. He is treat motivated, which helps with training, and he is already doing well with house manners. He is mostly potty trained, though a brief adjustment period in a new home may bring some marking as he settles in. Dexter has a fun, endearing personality that sneaks up on you. Underneath his calm exterior is a sweet and slightly goofy guy who will make you smile without even trying. He enjoys companionship but does not demand constant attention, making him a wonderful balance of affectionate and independent. He is currently receiving treatment for heartworm disease and will be ready for adoption once that is complete. In the meantime, he is soaking up love and learning just how good life can be. If you are looking for a gentle, loyal companion with a calm nature and a quietly funny side, Dexter may be exactly who you have been waiting for. About heartworm: This dog tested positive for heartworm disease before arriving to the rescue. Heartworm disease is transmitted to a dog through a bite from an infected mosquito producing a positive test in six months. OPH will treat the dog and provide two weeks of recovery time prior to adoption. Potential adopters will receive detailed information on the disease and their role in completing the recovery process from OPH’s heartworm coordinator. With monthly preventatives, the disease is completely preventable. Story
Sweet momma, Utopia, and her five day old pups were hours away from being euthanized in a small Texas animal shelter before they were rescued. Momma was scared and protective of her babies for a few days until she realized they were safe. Now she is a total lovebug! Utopia needs a patient family. She is shy and will take some time and lots of treats to be comfortable in her new home. She would do best with another confident dog to show her the ropes. She loves to run and play with other dogs so acclimating with them should be no problem. She is also cat friendly. Utopia does well in the car and walks great on a leash. She's ready for adventure and a love that lasts forever! Local adoption fee is $200 (in TX adoption only)
