Ozzy's Story: Ozzy was found abandoned in a rural part of southwest Virginia — scared, lonely and completely on his own. Nobody should ever have to start their story that way and especially not a boy as sweet and wonderful as Ozzy. But here is the most beautiful part — despite everything he went through Ozzy never let it harden his heart. Not even a little bit. This incredible boy came to us with the gentlest temperament, the warmest spirit and more love to give than you could ever imagine. She tested positive for heartworms, but has been treated! Heartworm is not contagious to people or other pets, but results from mosquito bites. Heartworm, if left untreated, is life threatening, but after treatment, dogs that were heartworm positive should suffer no significant long-term effects so long as they are kept on a monthly heartworm preventative. Heartworm dogs can resume full active and normal lives, but need to be kept calm for 4-6 weeks after treatment. Jackie has completed this activity restriction period.    Jackie is Looking For:  Her forever home! This sweet girl landed in the shelter through no fault of her own. At a bit under five years old, she's past her puppy days but is up for adventure - she's eager for sniffy walks and world exploration with her humans! She takes feedback on what not to chew very well, and seems like she could be trained further very easily. She is very smart!
