Current Location: Ijamsville, MD Adoption Fee Covered + Free Training! Thanks to a generous supporter, this pet's adoption fee is fully covered — and OPH is including six virtual training sessions with a certified trainer in the first 60 days to help you start off strong together! Meet Macaroni: The Sweet, Shy Soul Ready to Blossom If you have a quiet home and a heart full of patience, Macaroni might just be the missing piece of your family. A survivor of a challenging past, Macaroni is learning that the world isn’t quite as scary as she once thought. While she is still discovering the simple joys of life, she is proof that with time and kindness, even the shyest dogs can show their true colors. The "Real Talk" on Macaroni Macaroni needs an adopter who respects her pace and understands that her progress is measured in small, beautiful moments: Earning Trust: Macaroni is not a "lap dog" in the traditional sense. She is still very fearful of direct touch; however, when she feels safe she’ll tentatively seek out chin scratches or give you a gentle "boop" with her nose when you aren't looking. She needs a home that will give her the space to approach you on her terms. The "Ignore" Rule: She is cautious around new people. Her way of managing nerves is to bark from a distance or retreat if someone tries to engage too quickly. She does best when visitors simply ignore her, allowing her the dignity and safety of deciding when to say hello. Potential Flight Risk: Macaroni is still adjusting to the concept of boundaries. She currently dislikes the leash and has shown a knack for jumping fences when overwhelmed. Because of this, she needs a secure yard and an adopter who understands her flight risk until she is fully bonded and confident in her surroundings. (The good news? If she does wander, she’s so attached to her people that she naturally gravitates right back.) Why You’ll Want Her on Your Team Once the "shell" comes off, Macaroni is a delight. She is not just a project; she is a personality waiting to shine: The Wiggle-Butt Factor: When she’s happy, she does the cutest, most infectious wiggle-butt dance. If you talk to her, she’ll light up, showing you the silly, playful side that has been waiting to come out. Morning Zoomies: Nothing beats the sight of Macaroni enjoying her morning zoomies in the yard. She’s learning how to play, how to chase, and how to be a dog. A True Friend: She loves her canine best friend, Cheese. Watching her blossom alongside him has shown us that she has a massive capacity for love—she just needs the right environment to let it out. The Perfect Match Macaroni is looking for a home that can offer: A Canine Mentor: She must have a confident, balanced dog in the home. She relies on other dogs to show her the ropes and help her feel secure enough to be herself. A Low-Traffic Environment: Because of her fear of strangers, she would thrive in a home with adults or older teens who can respect her need for space. Patience and Security: An adopter who is committed to a "safety-first" approach regarding leashes and fences, and who understands that she needs time to settle in before she truly reveals her full, playful personality. Are you the patient, steady hand Macaroni has been waiting for? She has so much love to give to the right person. If you're ready to provide a sanctuary for this sweet, wiggly girl, please click the apply button today! We would love to see Macaroni and Cheese find their forever home together. If that isn't possible, she still requires a home with another confident dog to help her navigate her new world.

Story
Unlike actual waffles, this one won't last until breakfast. At 3½ months old and 14 pound terrier mix, Waffle is the kind of puppy who quietly sneaks into your heart before you even realize what's happened. He's sweet, calm, and remarkably relaxed for a youngster, with just enough puppy playfulness to keep life interesting. Waffle can be a little shy when meeting new people, but give him a few minutes and he'll be your newest best friend. He's incredibly smart already, knows "sit," is crate trained, and is making great progress with potty training. He loves other dogs and would thrive with a canine buddy to show him the ropes—or with a family where someone is home a good part of the day to keep him company. Waffle would be happiest in a calm home with a fenced yard where he can explore, play, and perfect the important art of afternoon lounging. We can also picture him forming that once-in-a-lifetime friendship with a gentle child—the kind where they're inseparable from the first day they meet. If you're looking for a puppy who's equal parts sweet, thoughtful, and wonderfully easygoing, Waffle is ready to make himself right at home. Quick facts: • 3½ months old • 14 lbs • Terrier mix • Sweet, calm, and easygoing • Knows "sit" • Crate trained and working on potty training • Loves other dogs • Would enjoy a calm home with a yard **If you're viewing this on Petfinder, please visit www.petconnectrescue.org to complete our adoption questionnaire.** Puppies receive age-appropriate vaccinations and other routine care prior to adoption. A $250 spay/neuter deposit is required at time of adoption. This fee covers spay/neuter at one of PetConnect’s preferred veterinary partners. If the adopter chooses to use their own veterinarian, the deposit will be returned with proof of sterilization. For more information, please email Katherine at kberger@petconnectrescue.org.

Story
Every family deserves one dog who reminds them to slow down. That's Lizzie. Nicknamed "Lounge Lizard Lizzie," this sweet girl has turned relaxation into an art form. Whether she's stretched across the couch, soaking up the sunshine in the yard, or supervising life from the patio, Lizzie is happiest simply being near her people. She may be a little reserved when you first meet her, but don't let that fool you. Give her a little patience, a handful of gentle pets, and maybe a piece of popcorn, and you'll discover one of the sweetest, most loyal companions you'll ever know. Once you earn her trust, you'll be greeted with an enthusiastic helicopter tail every time you walk through the door, and she'll happily shadow you around the house just to make sure she doesn't miss out on anything. Lizzie is also surprisingly clever. She's a puzzle toy champion, loves figuring out treat games, and every now and then will break into an adorable game of fetch—especially if belly rubs are part of the deal. She is 4 yrs old, 29 lbs, fully housetrained and has wonderful manners indoors. She'll quietly let you know when she needs to go outside with a soft whimper or by waiting patiently at the back door. Lizzie dreams of a home with a fenced yard where she can wander, sniff the breeze, listen to the birds, and stretch out in the sunshine. She's still building confidence on leash walks, so a family willing to let her learn at her own pace will help her continue to blossom. Because she's a gentle soul, Lizzie would thrive in a calm home as an only dog or with another easygoing canine companion. (She hasn't met cats yet.) She isn't looking for adventure every minute of the day—she's looking for someone to share life's quiet moments with. If you've been searching for a loyal best friend who believes the perfect day includes sunshine, snacks, belly rubs, and simply being by your side, Lizzie has been waiting for you. **If you're viewing this on Petfinder, please visit www.petconnectrescue.org to complete our adoption questionnaire.* The adoption fee for this dog is $425. Routine vetting and spay or neuter surgery are included in the adoption fee. For more information, please email Katherine at kberger@petconnectrescue.org.

Story
Millie is a 1-year-old Wire Haired Terrier mix weighing between 25 and 30 pounds. She’s a great girl with a sweet disposition and is very cuddly. She loves her toys and is also dog friendly. Once she arrived at the rescue and we got to know her, we realized she was pregnant. In addition to all her other positive characteristics, she proved to be a terrific mama dog when taking care of her 7 puppies!!! (posted 7/2/26, ME) ' 'Adoption Fee: $395.00-- covers microchip, worming, all vaccines, monthly heart worm preventative, monthly tick/flea preventative, spaying/neutering, health certificate, and complete medical records. Transport Fee: $170.00-- We consider the transport to be of great importance and, as such, take particular care of the dogs during the trip. We make every effort to arrive with healthy and minimally stressed dogs. **It is rare that we know with certainty the ages or mixes that make up our dogs, but we do our best to be as accurate as possible based upon our experience. ** ' ' 'July 24, 2026, 4:45 pm

Story
Want to meet ME?* Come to our adoption event next weekend: Sunday, July 26th from 2:00-4:00 Vanish Brewery, 42245 Black Hops Lane, Leesburg, VA 20176 We encourage potential adopters to apply ahead of our adoption events so we can begin getting to know you and help assess whether an adoption may be a good match prior to the event. We hope to see you on Sunday!!! *Dog/Cat attendance is not guaranteed. Feel free to text the event coordinator to confirm a specific dog/cat's attendance: 703-447-4766 IF YOU ARE VIEWING THIS LISTING ON PETFINDER OR ADOPT-A-PET, please visit: Caninesandkittiesrescue.org to access adoption requirements, more information and pictures. Meet Frida! Frida is an adorable 1-year-old, 12-pound pup who we believe may be a Jack Russell Terrier/Chihuahua mix (just our best guess!). This sweet, playful girl loves being wherever her people are. Whether it's running errands, visiting the barber shop, shopping, or even enjoying a stroller ride, Frida is happiest as your constant companion. Like many Jack Russell mixes, she is energetic, smart, and always ready for fun. Frida gets along wonderfully with the two large dogs in her foster home and loves to play, so she will need another young, playful dog in her forever family. She is house-trained and crate-trained for short periods but would do best in a home where she isn't left alone for long stretches. If there are cats in the home, they should be dog-savvy and comfortable with Frida's playful chase games. Frida is spayed, up to date on vaccines and microchipped. The Adoption Fee is $375.00 ***You must be at least 25 years of age to adopt from CKRescue*** ***Please note that our first step in approving adoption applicants is to complete a vet check. Vetting of current and past pets is very important to us, thus we will be speaking with the vet(s) listed on your application to ensure that your current and previous pet(s) are kept up to date on vaccines (including rabies), spayed or neutered, maintained on appropriate monthly preventatives and examined annually by your vet.*** Our organization cannot guarantee the exact breed of any animal in our care. The breed listed is based on any background we may have been provided, and/or the general appearance of the animal. **Please visit www.caninesandkittiesrescue.org to complete our non-binding application.**

Meet Zeke! Zeke is about 9 years old and weighs about 15 lbs. We think Zeke looks like a Cairn Terrier Mix of some sort -- JUST A GUESS. Are you looking for a happy-go-lucky pup? Zeke could be your guy! He's the perfect combination of "chill" & playful. His favorite activities include eating, going for walks, chasing bunnies (if allowed) and snuggling next to you on the sofa. He was a good boy for his bath & grooming, although he didn't love the clippers near his face. Can't say that I blame him! He is dog friendly but doesn't care for cats. If you have a feline friend in your home, we can cat test him. Zeke is house & crate trained, which is a huge bonus! Even if he isn't crated, he doesn't exhibit any destructive behavior. He's generally quiet but will occasionally speak up, if he's uncomfortable with a person, noise, etc. Overall, he's a really easy pup! ***NOTE: This dog will require grooming*** This dog is spayed/neutered, up to date on vaccines, heartworm negative and microchipped.
