Story
Leo is 7 years old. He was 1 of 2 in a litter. We initially adopted his brother from an acquaintance. Around 2 months old, the family that had Leo had a family emergency and asked us to watch him. 3 months later they returned and suggested we keep him since he bonded to us and our other dogs - including his litter brother. As they both aged, play-fighting got more and more aggressive. They are both neutered but no help. My wife spends a lot of time traveling for work and often takes the brother. When without the other, these dogs are great with other dogs. And always good with people. They both had formal training but that does not seem to help when they get worked up. At this point, I think Leo would be better off with the anxiety he feels around his brother. I am not in a rush to rehome him. Especially if it means finding Leo the best new family.

Story
Meet Stewart, aka Stewie! This scruffy little guy was spotted running as a stray before being picked up by animal control. Luckily, Stewie had an advocate at the shelter who reached out to rescue for help, and he’s been charming us ever since. Stewie is a social, funny, and affectionate boy, estimated to be 1–2 years old, about 17 lbs, and likely a wire-coat Jack Russell Terrier mix. His scruffy coat and signature “poodle-hawk” tuft make him completely irresistible. Stewie is currently fostered with a mom, dad, and two dogs. He’s become best buddies with one playful pup, and you’ll often find them snuggled together, while also respecting the other dog’s need for space. He does well as part of a pack and even spent Thanksgiving at his foster family’s beach house with eight adults and one of six dogs, where he fit right in and had a blast. He’d love a home with a young, playful canine companion and shares toys nicely. Stewie is a wonderful mix of goofy, clever, affectionate, and fun. He can be a little shy at first, but warms up quickly and becomes a total velcro dog, happily following his people from room to room once he’s comfortable. He has a medium energy level, is crate-trained, and nearly fully potty-trained. He just needs consistent breaks and supervision as he continues to perfect his routine. His foster mom practices structured crate nap times, and Stewie settles right in. At night, he sleeps in bed with the family and their dogs; during the day, he’s often found curled up napping in his foster mom’s home office. He’s great on leash, stays close, doesn’t pull much, and walks even more confidently with a dog buddy. This sweet, silly boy loves to play and enjoys his daily walks, but after some zoomies or exercise, he’s happy to relax on the couch or entertain himself with a toy. His foster mom describes him as an easy, awesome dog, snuggly without being pushy, never destructive, and trustworthy with free roam in the home with regular potty breaks. Stewart is ready for a family who will enjoy his spark and help him continue blossoming into the amazing dog he’s meant to be.
