Story
Looks like: Yorkshire Terrier Male, 10 years old (estimated), 10 pounds Meet Casper, the friendly pup! This senior lad is full of energy and loves to play with toys. He is a joyful guy with a big heart who is happy to tag along wherever you go. Sadly, Casper was recently diagnosed with Lymphoma. Without treatment his prognosis is only a few months to live. We are choosing to give him the best change possible so he is undergoing cancer treatment at a specialist in the Monterey area. Based on his energy and enthusiasm, you would never know he is fighting a serious illness! If his adopters are willing to continue bringing him to treatment appointments in Monterey post-adoption, POMDR will cover the cost of his treatment (approx. 288 days). While Casper is very friendly and affiliative, he is working on resource guarding from both people and other dogs. While he does well with his foster pup sibling, we think he would also love to be an only dog where he doesn't have to share his toys. Casper does great around cats. He is looking for a forever home where he can float right into your heart (and toy bin). Handsome Casper joined us from the Animal Resource Center of the Inland Empire. He was brought in as a stray. Due to his senior status, they felt he would do best in a senior focused rescue.

Story
Looks like: Yorkie Female, 12 years old (estimated), 12 pounds Just like her namesake, this sweet senior lady is a little treasure that is almost retired from circulation, but unlike the coin, Penny's value only goes up with age! She may be small and a little slower than her puppy counterparts, but she is packed with love, loyalty, and charm that's worth more than any jackpot. Penny enjoys cozy naps, gentle pets, and quietly making her humans' lives richer one cuddle at a time. She is a rare find, so don't let this gem slip through your fingers! Penny joined us from the Bradshaw Animal Shelter when they reached out seeking a senior-focused rescue for her.

Spayed or Neutered,
Story
This little dog is at least 12 years old - he was found wandering the streets looking for a warm home and a meal. He was severely matted and very thin on intake on 11/30. He is off of stray wait on December 4th. He is very hard of hearing, and we suspect he does have some vision. He has no teeth left, we suspect they all fell out, leaving 2 very large oronasal fistulas (open communication between mouth and nose) - he is very thin but is ravenously hungry, he needs wet food only and some assistance with eating. As of 12/10/25 he has gained 1 lb in shelter with soft feeding. He graciously allowed us to shave out all of his horrible matts. The medical team has attempted repair of his large, extensive oronasal fistulas on 12/5/25. As of recheck on 12/10/25, one has re-opened (R maxillary canine site), another fistula repair flap is still holding at the L maxillary premolar area. Definitive repair at these sites may require surgery with an maxillofacial surgeon given extensive size. If an adopter or rescuer does not seek repair, pt is at risk of chronic rhinitis (nose inflammation) or aspiration (if food or water enter nasal cavity through fistulas).
